17_ Serena's mate

Serena"
My parents will not allow me to return to school after that day because my father wanted to ensure the safety of the entire school. Though everyone at the school thought that my father did conduct a major investigation and examine the entire school and place that could be the hiding spot of the culprit who attempted to hurt me, before they let me go back to my normal day at school. After three days, my father finally allowed me to return to school.
Despite the fact that it's been three days. I still don't know what's going on with Killian, except that he's in danger because the crossbow that hit him was poisonous. According to the servant I was assigned to gather information about Killian's condition, he was transferred and brought to the western part of our realm, where the sanitarium for the serious illness was located. It indicates that Killian's condition was critical.
Killian was one of our kingdom's strongest guards and the next zeta, and yet he brought in the sanitarium? I'm curious what kind of poison that is.
Because I'm so worried about Killian, I'm afraid my heart will burst.
I can't just stay here and wait! I find a way to get away and return to see him later. I'll be returning to school tomorrow, so this is my only chance because I know my father will assign me to a large number of guards as a temporary replacement for Killian.
I look at my guard, Joshaque, the son of the second zeta, who has returned from suspension for what I've done. Adriana would be my guard later since I hate that girl well I couldn't feel conscience if ever she would be suspended.
They would be suspended, that was what my father said. I mean, at the very least, I can give them a short vacation, right?
"Are you certain you're just concerned, Serena?"
I let out a huge sigh of relief when she reappeared after three days. And she sounds as if she's mocking me.
"Really, it's been three days, and the first thing you did was mock me?"
"I'm not mocking you; I just want you to express the emotions you've been suppressing. And remember, you're not legally eighteen yet, so my existence is entirely up to you. But don't worry, your birthday is just around the corner, right? By then, I'm sure you'd see me whenever you wanted. By the way, Elena is my name, so please stop calling me your wolf; I have a name, you know."
I sigh and roll my eyes. "Whatever Elena or my wolf was, you and I were living together as one. And don't bring up my birthday because I don't want to think about it. When that time comes, I'm sure there will be more perfidious and fickle people to add to my list. For the time being, Killian is more important to me. I need to see him right away. Every day that I don't see him makes my head itch."
"We both know your parents won't let you go anywhere without hundreds of guards, Serena, because your best soldier wasn't here because of you."
All I could do was gnash my teeth in frustration, knowing it was all my fault.
I take a seat in the chair next to me. I let my fussy headrest rest for a while.
*****
My mother came to see me later that evening. We walk together to the mess hall and talk about my upcoming birthday while we eat. They were both excited, while I was thinking about how I could get away...
When night falls, I change into a black gown. I chose the most comfortable dress I had because I planned on crawling on the wall with my wolf nails. Because my room was on the roof of our palace, it would be another massive battle.
No one knows I can do that now because they believe I'm not strong enough to have a strong nail because the typical wolf would begin to develop strength after we reach the age of eighteen. Well, for some reason, I was different from everyone else.
But it was because of this that I was more powerful and intelligent than other wolves.
This is why I was able to escape from my guards, and I won't tell them about my strength that allows me to escape at any time.
"Are you certain you want to do this, Serena?"
"Stop talking, Elena; I'm concentrating; I'll be dead if I make one wrong move."
I murmur as I continue to crawl down to the ground. I'm hoping Phoenix was in his stall because I prefer him to any other horse.
Every time I yank my nail through the hard rock wall, I make sure it's well yanked in, or I'll fall.
"Wow, Serena, you did it!"
Elena's words make me roll my eyes.
"I always do this when I want to get away. It's as simple as counting."
The difference now was that there were a lot of guards walking around.
When I saw someone approaching, I quickly hid on the other side.
"Oh my goodness! Someone was on their way, Serena!"
Elena stated,
"Shot up Elena," I said.
I hushed and dashed to the other side. That's what I did until I got to Phoenix's location.
When I saw the horse I adore, I wanted to jump for joy.
"Phoenix!" I burst out laughing, completely forgetting that I had just skedaddled.
"Serena, you've gone insane! You're supposed to hide and remain as quiet as possible."
My wolf reminds me of this, but she sounds frustrated.
"Elena, I understand. I got carried away."
"Please, Lord, help, us."
Elena says as I ride through the horse's back. I just sigh and roll my eyes.
"Don't be worried; I know what I'm doing."
In vain, I said.
"Yes, that's me. I'd like to remind you that even when you hadn't seen me. I've been here since the day you were born. And, as I recall, you frequently fall while attempting to ride a horse."
I crack a witty grin.
"But I was still practising at the time," he joked.
"Whatever," Elena stagy said after Phoenix stepped on something that caused me to almost fall to the ground."
"Oh wretched god, please save us!"
Elena's outburst made me laugh.
"hoooo"
Phoenix ran faster, and the only light I had was a small but thousands-of-miles-away hole from atop a mountain thousands of miles away from where I was. I catch a glimpse from above and smile, hoping that one day we will be able to create something that will allow us to reach that beautiful light.
I try to recall the map that I caught a glimpse of earlier at the library. Then I let Phoenix take the lead.
After about an hour, I arrived at the aforementioned sanitarium. I sigh as I realise there is a lot of security that I must overcome.
"Oh... uhh," she says.
"Shut up, Elena, I don't want to hear what you're thinking."
I tied Phoenix to a tree and hid in a densely forested area where he would be completely hidden.
I came across the sanitarium's darker side. I take a deep breath before leaping into the wall.
When a guard patrol comes close to where I am, I twirl on the ground and quickly hide.
I always sneak out of the place to go to my favourite place, but I've never done anything like this. Every guard I passed through had my heart racing so fast. I just wished I could see Killian after this terrifying hour of my life. This is the first time I've snuck into a restricted area.
"Did you ever consider what would happen to you if you were caught?"
Of course, I don't close my eyes as Elena asks because all I can think about is to see Killian again to at least alleviate my concerns about him.
I successfully entered and checked every room I passed through because I don't know where Killian could be, so I need to check every single room.
When I finally got to the end of the hall in the right section, the guy I'd been look for for three days appeared in front of me.
Killian was on the bed, but he wasn't the same as I used to be. Killian appears to be very weak; his pale skin was lifeless; as I approached him, I noticed that he had a lot of life support plugged into his body.
I couldn't keep my tears from falling. She is now blaming herself even more.
When I touch his face, an electric sensation rushes through my body...
"Did you sense it, Serena?"
All...tated... "Why, you ask? I hadn't felt that way before; we'd been together my entire life, but this is the first time I've felt that way."
I said, shaking my head.
"Killian was most likely a friend of ours. Serena, your eighteenth birthday was approaching, so he could have been our mate."
I swallowed hard, about to touch Killian again when I heard footsteps approaching!
