Chapter hundred and forty six

Dallas

When I saw Ron walked in with Jenna, I immediately felt immense rage towards her. She tricked me and kidnapped me, now she shows up in front of me. I wanted to punch her.

Tabitha had passed out from the blow Amanda gave her so she didn't see Jenna arrive.

My anger rapidly dissipated when I saw Ron point a gun at her.

He wouldn't actually shoot his daughter, right? But a part of me knew he would.

Jenna turned to face her father really slowly. There was no fear in her eyes as she met his gaze. I have a feeling it wasn't the first time this has happened between them.

“Father?” She called, her voice gentle but firm.

“Why are you really here? Is it to save her?” He asked.

Save me? I almost scoffed. She was the one who kidnapped me in the first place. Jenna didn't say anything. She simply stared ahead.

“So it's true then. I always knew you weren’t fit to be my child. You took so much after your mother in character. You're always so soft it's nauseating. Maybe I should shoot your other leg to teach you a lesson.” Ron said and actually pointed his gun at her leg, but she didn't even flinch.

Jenna pressed her lips together.
“If you suspected what I had in mind, why did you bring me down here?” She asked.

“I was curious to see what you might pull, but even your rescue attempt is pathetic.” He tsked.

“I'll let you go unharmed because you have to announce your engagement publicly soon. We can't have you all bruised up in front of the camera.” He smiled at her but I could hear the threat slightly included in his words.

Jenna nodded and cleared her throat.
“If you guys could come in now, it would be much appreciated.” She said loudly.

A look of confusion flashed through Ron's face just as the door burst open. I almost sobbed as I laid eyes on him.

Oliver walked in with Xavier flanking his side. They both had guns in their hands and were dressed in leathers. Several other unfamiliar men barged in after them, their guns all pointed at Ron.

Oliver glanced at me and his eyes softened with relief. It almost seems like he would cross the distance between us and hug me tightly to himself.

As relieved as I was to see him, I was aware of the danger he had just walked into. Ron wouldn't let any of them walk away alive.

Jenna dived towards me. I turned my head to the sides, thinking she wanted to punch me, but her hands went to the ropes binding me instead. She opened her purse and brought out a knife. With one clean slice, the rope came off.

My mouth hung open in shock. Why was she helping me?

She seem to read the question on my face.
“Ask questions later, we need to get out of here while he's distracted.” She said.

A quick glance at Ron and I saw he was in a heated conversation with Oliver. I couldn't hear what they were saying due to the sound of gunshots outside this room.

“Can you walk?” She asked.

I tried to stand up from the chair, but my legs wobbled and I fell back. I didn't argue with her when she offered me her hand and hauled me up. She dragged me to a corner. There was little to no light here, but we were obstructed from everyone in the room.

I leaned against the wall, trying to steady myself as she hastily went through her purse.

She tore her pant suit to reveal fighting leather clothes clinging to her body. There were knives of various sizes strapped over her body. She hastily gathered her hair into her a ponytail.

As if sensing something, she snapped her head up and shot at someone behind me. I heard a loud thud. I hadn't even notice the person sneak up on me.

“Can you use a gun?” She asked.

“I'm better with knives.” I replied, still leaning against the wall.

She nodded and handed me two long knives.
“You're weak. Avoid fighting as much as possible. Follow the exit by the left side, you should find a black van parked under a tree. Go straight to it.” She explained quickly.

I nodded. She was about to walk out of the corner when I suddenly remembered something.

“Wait!” I called out to her.

“What?” She snapped, clearly irritated.

“Tabitha.” I managed to say.

“Leave the assistant. She's not important. You have to go now.” She urged.

I managed to steady myself and glared at her.

“Leave her and you'll find out just how good I am with knives.” I squared my face to match my annoyance.

She might be helping now for some unknown reasons but it didn't make me loathe her any less.

She stared at me for a few seconds before groaning something about how she didn't sign up to be a babysitter, but she charged towards Tabitha.

I tried to run after her but only managed a few steps before I decided to walk. My whole body was aching badly now. The bruises on my body seem to ache more.

When I reached her, she had cut Tabitha's binds and handed her over to one of the men with Oliver. The man had dashed through the chaos and made it out. I heaved a sigh of relief.

“Can we go now or are there more people you want to save?” Jenna said sarcastically.

She walked away, holding her gun up. I followed behind her, tightening my grip on the knives. We made it into the corridor, using the door the man with Tabitha had went through.

The place had become so chaotic that I didn't even know where Oliver was anymore. The last I saw him, he was pointing a gun towards Ron. I really hoped he was fine.

“Why are you even helping?” I asked.

The corridor was empty, save for the sound of gunshots in the air. It seems like a good time to ask the questions.

Something flickered in her eyes but it was gone in a second.

“Can we talk about this when we're not surrounded by people that want to kill us?” She said harshly.

Just as she said that, a door burst open and three Brothers ran towards us. They were still a good distance away from us but I could easily see their frame and they were bulky as hell.

I'd fought bigger men before on the street of Seoul, but none of them had been trained assassin. Maybe I really am going to die today. But I'll be damned if I go down without a fight.

“Time to put that knife skill to use, Little sister.”

What? Did she just call me–?

I didn't finish the thoughts before one of them swung his arm at me. I easily ducked the blow but was too slow to dodge the second one. I went flying and fell hard on the concrete floor.

Well, good news, I didn't break anything in my body, and he doesn't have a gun. I could take him. I've never killed someone before, but isn't there always a first time for everything?

I rolled in the floor before he could send another blow my way. I picked up my knives and charged towards him. I blocked out the aching of my body and focused on the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

Years of training kicked in and I began swinging. The man seem taken aback at first but he quickly got over his shock. He dodged all my strikes and attacked me with his hands.

Either he was really arrogant and thought he didn't need a weapon to defeat me or he was stupid. It was probably both.

He held his ground for a few minutes before he switched to defensive. Despite the situation, I couldn't help but feel a little excited at my feat. I managed to defeat a trained assassin. If I could just stab him with the knife–

A gunshot resounded through the corridor. The Brother stared at me wide eyed before falling to the ground. I whirled towards Jenna and glared at her. She was leaning against the wall with a bored expression on her face as if she didn't just kill three men.

“I had him.” I snapped at her.

She rolled her eyes and pushed off the wall.
“Sure you did.”

“I really did.” I insisted. I didn't need her saving my ass just because she has a gun.

“You had plenty of opportunities to make the killing blow but you didn't. You've never killed before in your life, have you?”

My silence was answer enough. I thought it would be easy since I was in danger but I'd been hesitant in killing the guy. I might be great with swords, but I've never fought in a real life situation before. The brawls in Seoul are the closest I've ever been because I would knock people unconscious.

But I didn't tell Jenna all that. It wasn't her business. And I still hadn't figured out why she was helping. What did Oliver offer her? It definitely couldn't be money. She might not be ‘Oliver Kang’ kind of rich, but she was insane rich.

Did he offer to marry her? That seem like something she would agree to. She had been obsessed with him since childhood after all.

“How about you stick to wounding them and I'll do the killing?” She said.

But it was unnecessary since we’ve already reached the exit now. I whirled around to tell her just that when I saw someone pointing a gun at us from the shadows.

I opened my mouth to scream at Jenna to get out of the way, but I froze just as Ron stepped out of the shadow and pulled the trigger.

It was the last sound I heard before I fell to the ground.
