Chapter sixty eight
OLIVER
After five days of sleepless nights, dealing with paperwork, and putting up with annoying reporters, I was finally able to wrap up everything I needed to do in D.C. it was finally time to return to New York.
I might have hastened a few things I should have taken my time with. I didn't even want to wait for the court trials which was next Monday. I needed to return to New York. I already arranged for Tabitha to fill in for me, while I attend the trials virtually.
After we handed Jason over to the cops, I called Joe and asked him what he found out about Ronan. He had very shocking information for me regarding who Ronan was partnered with. But while I didn't expect it, I wasn't exactly surprised. The old man sure do hold grudges. And after how I humiliated him and his son, I didn't expect him to not retaliate. But again, he didn't think it through. That's how he lost his fortune in the first place.
But Alberto Castillo is a New York problem. And since he doesn't have direct ties to this crime, I can't have him thrown in jail for it. But I can definitely get him in other ways. The man wasn't exactly known for living a decent life.
Ethan was already digging up dirt about him, and boy, there was a lot to dig. The old man would find himself transported from his king sized bed to the cold, hard floor of New York prison by tomorrow morning.
And I would enjoy the night cozied up with my little monkey, listening to her erratic heartbeat after fucking her brains out. The thought sent a straight jolt to my cock.
Calm the fuck down, Oliver.
My body seem to react each time I think about her. It was easier to stay away when I haven't made her mine, but the five days I was away from her felt like five fucking centuries. I've missed her like hell. Her smile, her hair, everything. I've missed everything about her.
The car ride from airport was annoyingly slow and torturous. I needed to see her. Everytime I tried not to think about how her absence is affecting me, I ended up jerking off to the memories of her.
I couldn't sleep properly without the feel of her warm body against mine. I've officially lost it. I was addicted to Dallas Valencia and I'm not even bothered about it. It's the kind of addiction that I never want to end.
“Aunt is asking if you were back in New York. She wanted to know how the meeting went and why you didn't wait for the court trials.” Ethan's voice pierced through my thoughts.
I had been so consumed by my thoughts that I forgot he was with me in the car. He came to meet at the airport and insisted on riding with me to the mansion. He claimed to have “something” he wanted to do.
“Tell her not to come to my house. I have no interest in finishing our previous conversation.” I said without turning to face him.
I've gone out of my way to ignore her since the news broke out. She has sent me multiple texts and left hundreds of missed calls but I didn't reply to any. I'm impressed she didn't fly to D.C herself to access the situation.
Aside from her husband, the company was the second thing my mum loved dearly. She didn't show much interest in it when my dad was alive, but after his death, she took over with iron hand and kept the company afloat. She dedicated more time to the company than me.
I figured it was a way of handling her grief. While I wallowed in self loathing and developed a ridiculous allergy, she worked herself to death barely noticing my presence. Suzy practically held the family together during those times.
I was certain she knows about everything that went down in D.C. Just because she's no longer the CEO doesn't mean she doesn't know about everything regarding Kang empire. She was just using that as a cover-up to see me.
I didn't want to argue with her further about my relationships. I can't not marry Jenna, but that doesn't mean I can't have Dallas too. But she doesn't seem to understand that. I needed her to stop interfering with my personal life.
“I'm just going to tell her that you'll come visit her soon,” Ethan said.
I finally turned to him and pinned him with a glare. He merely gave me a shrug and typed on his phone.
We finally got to the mansion. It took a lot of self restraint not to sprint inside. I was suddenly annoyed by Ethan's presence. He was surely going to give me hell about this later.
“Sweet cousin, why do you look like you're in a hurry?” Ethan said, his tone laced with amusement.
“I just have something important to attend to.” I muttered.
He chuckled, clearly not believing what I said. But there was no use telling him something he already knows.
It was around nine in the morning so she must still be sleeping. I turned to the staircase and was about to climb the stairs when I saw her at the entrance of the kitchen. She hadn't noticed me yet.
I released a breath I didn't realize I was holding. I pressed my lips together to refrain a smile. I glanced back to see Ethan sitting on the couch.
I walked towards her, keeping my steps light so she wouldn't hear me.
“Hello there, my little monkey,” I wrapped my arms around her waist, hugging her from behind.
She flinched slightly but eased into my embrace. She turned around to face me, a smile plastered on her face.
“You're back.” She said.
“I am.” I said and captured her lips in mine.
I kissed her hungrily and hurriedly, pouring all my emotions into the kiss. I let her feel how much I want her. How much I crave her. I pushed her back against the wall and was about to show her that when–
“Jesus Christ, what did I just walk into?”
Dallas broke the kiss and quickly disengaged herself from me. I closed my eyes tight and took deep breaths to calm myself down.
Remind me why I haven't killed this man?
Right, because his mother is my aunt and I don't want to make her childless.
“What the fuck do you want, Ethan?” I growled.
I glared at me, wishing he'd just vanish and rid the world of his annoying presence. No biggies. I'll adopt a son for Suzy. Or have someone make a robot version of Ethan.
“What? I just wanted to go to the study. I had no idea I'd walk into a R rated scene.” His face was the picture of innocence, but his eyes had the mischievous glint I know too well.
“Study is upstairs. Get lost.” I bit out. Dallas nudged me slightly.
What? I'm not the one interrupting his make out session. I deserve to be annoyed. Ethan smirked at me before turning to Dallas.
“Hi, Dallas. It's nice to see you again.” He smiled at her.
He ignored my glaring and extended his hand to her. Dallas accepted his hand with a sweet smile.
“Nice to see you too.”
Ethan tightened his grip on Dallas's hand.
I'm not going to kill my cousin!
I'm not going to kill my cousin!!
I'm not going to kill my–
Fuck it!
I grabbed Dallas's hand and yanked it free from Ethan's grip.
“Get. Lost.” I said, punctuating each words.
“Wow, someone's cranky.” He chuckled.
“I'll see you around, Dallas.” He said and walked up the stairs.
“That's was harsh.” Dallas muttered as soon as Ethan left.
“He was touching you.” I said simply as if that was enough explanation. It was the best I could offer.
“It was a handshake, Oliver.” She chuckled.
“Still unacceptable in my book.”
“Are you going to glare at every guy that hold my hand?” She asked, her tone light and playful.
“They wouldn't have a hand because I'll cut it off.”
She let out a small laugh, but stopped she she saw the expression on my face.
“Oh, you're serious.” She muttered.
“I never joke with anything that has to do with you, Dallas. You mean too much to me.” I said and dragged her closer to me.
“Are you scared?”
Her lips tilted into a smile and she wrapped her arms around my neck.
“Oliver Kang, that was so hot.” she said.
She crushed her lips on mine and we continued to devour each other's lips. I tugged on her shirt's button and was about to undo it when she stopped it.
“Wait.” Her voice came out as a moan.
“I… I need to tell you something.”
“You can tell me later.” I said impatiently and buried my face in her neck.
“No, it has to be now.” She shoved me away slightly and I groaned, but I stepped back and gave her some space.
She steadied her breathing and stared at me.
“Something happened.” She chewed on her lower lip. She seem hesitant at first and that was enough to make me worried. I arched an eyebrow but waited for her to speak.
“It's about my mother.”
