CHAPTER FORTY SIX
OLIVER
I sat on the couch, tracing the rim of the glass I was holding as I stared at the feminine figure on the bed. Dallas Valencia, the first and only woman who always ends up in my bed without any carnal activities involved. Yet.
I downed the content of the glass in one go. It didn't serve the purpose I want it to because, first, it's non-alcoholic. There is no way I'm getting close to alcohol even if I'm dying. Second, I was beyond frustrated with myself. And it’s not the physical kind of frustration. I can’t quite figure out what it is yet.
After the haunting phone call with Joe the other day, I had become restless. I couldn't help but wonder who killed Dallas's mum, and if they might be after Dallas as well. Especially now that she is contesting the will. The possibility of it is minimal, but I wouldn't take my chances. I can't let anything happen to her.
My first guess is Lucien. He had motive and valuable information to plot the woman's death. And it couldn't be a mere coincidence that he tried to make a deal with Dallas just few days after the lawyers approached him to fight the will.
I didn't give it much thought before I got into my private jet and came to Seoul. The first thing I did after I settled in the hotel was to find out where Dallas was. I found out she was at a nightclub with her friends.
I went there and found her extremely drunk, and she puked all over the place. So I drove her back to the hotel I was staying, changed her, and set her on my bed to sleep. She regained consciousness in-between and spurted out extremely crude words. But aside that, everything went well. I think.
I had never cared for a drunk person before so I wasn't exactly sure I did a good job. I had to call the hotel assistant to prepare the bath because I had no idea how to do that. But I did everything else by myself, including bathing her. I ended up becoming rock hard that my erection throbbed, but I made no attempt to touch her inappropriately.
Wow, being a gentleman is so hard. I'm used to taking what I want with or without the owner's consent.
I never thought caring after someone would feel so... fulfilling. It wasn't a hassle like I had anticipated. It was like trying out a new sport. The excitement, if that’s what the feeling is, was undecipherable. Or maybe, it felt different because it's Dallas. Everything feels different with this woman. I can't imagine how it'd feel like if it was any other person.
Dallas turned in her sleep, mumbling some inaudible words. She slowly opened her eyes and darted her gaze around the room. The room was dark and the only source of light was from the moon outside. She hadn't seen me yet, but I was watching her every move.
Well, that’s not creepy at all.
She called for her friend, Lisa, and another unfamiliar name. Must be the other girl at the club. She held her head and groaned before she got out of bed, probably searching for the switch. My breath itched as I stared at her long, sexy legs. The image of her completely naked in the bath tub flashed across my mind and I became hard again.
Fuck me!
She switched on the lights and our gazes locked. I flashed her a smile. Her eyes widened before she let out a horrifying yell.
"What are you doing here?" She screamed.
I sighed. Guess she is finally sober now. Her drunk side was so much fun.
Mental note: get her drunk more often.
"In my room?" I raised an eyebrow.
She dragged her gaze around.
"This isn't your--" she trailed off as the realization dawned on her. "You're in Seoul?" she whisper-yelled.
"Glad you figured that out," I said sarcastically.
"Why are you in Seoul?"
"For business."
I wasn't lying. She is my business.
"Why am I in your hotel room? I was at the club with Lisa and Ari." she paused.
"You kidnapped me?!" She yelled.
Okay, maybe not sober enough. I couldn't refrain myself from chuckling at her angry expression. She looked so adorable when she is mad.
Adorable. Another word I never thought I'd ever use.
"This isn't funny. I'm on my vacation which you consented to, and now you just kidnapped me. What happened to 'enjoy yourself on the trip', huh?" she stomped her feet angrily on the tiled floor, her arms angled on her hips.
The shirt rode up with each movement she made, but not enough to show her bare pussy. I know it's bare because I removed her under wears too. She didn't seem to be aware of what she was wearing.
She traced my line of sight and her eyes widened. She got into bed and quickly draped the duvet over her body. I chuckled.
“Y..you.. Why am I.. Did you…” She stuttered
“Yes, I changed your clothes last night, and gave you my shirt. Your dress was uncomfortable for you, and you were trying to pull it off.”
Her eyes became so wide that I feared they’d pop out of their sockets. She tightened her grip on the duvet.
“You didn’t…”
“Rest assured I didn’t do anything to you.”
Even though, I really, really wanted to. But I didn’t tell her that. She released the duvet and fidgeted with the hem of the shirt. As if remembering something, her gaze flew to me.
“Oh my God! Lisa and Ari. They’re at the club. They must be worried about me. I have to go back.”
She jumped out bed, darting her gaze around, probably searching for her things.
“You don’t have to worry about them. I made sure they got home safely.”
I sent a designated driver to pick them up and told them that Dallas would be spending the night with me. Lisa got excited and agreed right away. Or maybe she was just too drunk. The other girl was very skeptical and made me confirm a lot of things before she agreed for Dallas to go with me.
Dallas nodded and went back to bed without arguing. I wondered how much trust she had in me to just believe my words without questioning me.
“Why did you bring me here?” She asked, her voice was low and soft this time.
“You were drunk.” I said and stood up from the couch.
“You should take the hangover pills on the nightstand.” I added, hoping she wouldn’t ask me anything again.
I couldn’t tell her the real reason I was here. Not until Joe gathers enough evidence, Lucien is merely a suspect. And also, if Lucien was guilty, he must have had a powerful accomplice. We still needed to find out who that is.
I unbuttoned my shirt, preparing to go to sleep. It wasn’t exactly going to be a good rest. The monsters are just waiting for me to close my eyes, and they’ll start haunting me. But pretending to sleep will be so much better than staying at Dallas like a creep.
I contemplated sleeping on the couch but it seem really uncomfortable. I decided to sleep on the bed instead. Besides, I had already done a lot of gentlemanly deeds today.
“What are you doing?” Dallas asked, her voice hoarse as she swallowed hard.
“Going to sleep.” I said casually.
“You can’t sleep here.” she said in horror.
“Why?” I smirked.
“Because…”
“Come on, it’s not the first time we’ll be sharing a bed.” I gave her a knowing smirk.
“That was different. You weren’t naked.” She said through gritted teeth.
“I’m still in my pants and you have a shirt on. This is a king sized bed. We don’t have to come in contact with each other.. Let’s just sleep and get this over with.” I sighed and sunk into the bed, closing my eyes.
I heard Dallas grumble beside me, before moving as far away from me as possible. I could feel my erection strained against my pants.
This is going to be a really long night.
