CHAPTER SIXTY ONE
DALLAS
The two ladies stared at me like I'd grown two horns. I was coming from the direction of Oliver’s room in nothing but his shirt. It wasn’t difficult to put two and two together.
While I didn’t give a shit about what Tabitha thinks, I care about Heather’s opinion. She is the only friend I’ve made in this place. I hope she doesn’t think I’m a whore or something. Plus the news currently going around about me wouldn’t exactly help my image.
God, why didn’t I think about this before saying yes to Oliver?
The three of us were still in the intense staring competition when Oliver waltzed into the living room.
“I asked her to get just one thing, and she is taking forever. Such incompetence.” I heard him mutter as he strolled towards us. He came to a sudden halt the minute he saw us, his brows knitted in confusion.
Tabitha had her back on him, so she hadn’t seen him yet.
“What’s going on here?” He asked, his deep voice piercing through the tensed atmosphere.
Tabitha flinched. She spun around, her eyes slightly bulged.
“I asked you to get something from the study. Why are you frozen in the middle of the stairs?” his voice sounded angry, Tabitha shuddered slightly.
“I… I was… I didn’t…” she stuttered.
“And now she’s lost her voice too. I have a meeting to attend, Tate. Get going if you’d like to remain employed under me.” he said, his tone harsh and void of warmth.
“I’m so sorry.” Tabitha apologized and walked hurriedly up the stairs. She threw me a deadly glare before she brushed past me.
Heather scrambled away before Oliver could even say anything to her. I felt a pit in my stomach, but it quickly went away as I saw Oliver walk up the stairs, a huge grin on his face.
I opened my mouth to say something but he wrapped his arms around me and sealed his lips with mine. I kissed him back, a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips. He groaned and dipped his tongue into my mouth, devouring my lips.
I could already feel my juice slicking my thighs. I need to stop this before it escalates into something more. I was sure if this continued for a bit longer, I wouldn’t mind if he fucked me raw on the floor. Heather and Tabitha were within earshot.
I broke the kiss and pushed him back slightly. A groan of disapproval came from him.
“You need to go to work,” I said.
“Work can wait.” he leaned in to kiss me, but I tilted my head back.
“We’re in hallway, Oliver. Anyone can walk in on us, including Heather or Tabitha.”
“I’ll gouge out the eyes of anyone who sees your freshly fucked face. It belongs to just me.” he said, a hint of possessiveness in his tone.
A strange feeling erupted in my stomach as I swallowed it down. Oliver wasted no time in claiming my lips once more, but I protested. “You need to go.”
He trailed his tongue around my ear. “Is that what you really want?” He mumbled against my ear and the previous pent-up wetness evolved into an ocean.
“Yes” I lied. As much as I wanted him, I couldn’t let him miss the meeting. The insistence in my eyes finally made him pull away.
“Fine,” he groaned. He rubbed his bulging erection on my stomach.
“I’m going to punish you for this tonight, little monkey.”
Heat erupted in my stomach and I found myself anticipating the punishment.
The sound of heels clicking on the tiled floor filled the atmosphere. I pulled away from Oliver and spun around. My eyes clashed with Tabitha’s. Her face hardened at the proximity I was in with her boss, but she didn’t make a comment or give any other reactions. I assumed it was because of Oliver’s presence.
“Did you get it?” Oliver asked, his face expressionless.
“Yes.” Tabitha replied, her tone clipped.
“I’ll meet you in the car,” he told her dismissively.
She nodded and walked down the stairs, without sparing me a glance.
Oliver gave me a quick kiss before following his assistant down the stairs. My eyes trailed his retreating figure till he disappeared through the huge doors at the entrance.
I ran my finger over my lips and a blush crept into my cheeks.
My stomach growled, a reminder that it was way past breakfast time. I should go see if Heather made breakfast.
Heather.
The image of her shocked face when she saw me a few minutes ago flashed across my mind. I need to talk to her. But I should probably change out of this shirt first.
I should send a text to Lisa too. She would kill me if she found out from someone else.
.
.
.
“I knew it!” Heather squealed so loudly that I had to cover my ears.
Her reaction when I told her about my relationship with Oliver was the complete opposite of what I imagined. I expected her to be horrified that her new friend was dating her boss, but she seemed rather ecstatic about it.
“You knew what?” I asked, a line of confusion appearing on my forehead.
“That he likes you. It was so obvious. He looked so horrified when he found out you weren’t home last night, and it was getting late. Also, when he came back from his business trip and left immediately, he learned you had already left for Korea.”
A blush crept into my cheek as I recalled those events. I had brushed it off as he was only protecting his cure, but reflecting back on those moments, he had always acted differently around me.
Saying he had feelings for me would be pushing it. He made it clear to me that he doesn’t do emotions. But I was sure he cared for me, which was a big and almost nonexistent word in Oliver Kang’s book.
“Anyway, I’m happy for you. You both look so good together.”
A smile touched my lips.
“Thank you.”
My phone buzzed on the kitchen island indicating a text notification. I picked it up, and my smile widened as I read the text.
DEVIL’S INCARNATE: Get dressed. We’re going on our first official date in a few hours, little monkey.
