Mine Now
Zakuski's POV.
Hope surged within me when I heard what he said, "I want to know how I'll be able to do that." I asked, curiosity etched in my voice. I have never lowered myself to ask for advice, but today I am, because I am desperate to make things right with the one woman who has always driven me crazy.
"I thought you would be matching the dragons, or are you having second thoughts?"
I thought hard, many thoughts running through my mind. Honestly, I am beginning to have a rethink of my decision while recalling what my sister Isabella had told me.
I swallowed hard as I nodded. He walked to me, patted my back, and said, "Garcia would be the only woman to keep you sane in this kingdom, and we need a better leader, so I suggest that you fight for her, even if it means taking lives in the process." His voice was calm and gentle. I looked into his eyes, unable to read his emotions, but they spoke volumes.
I took a deep breath, telling myself that I could do it. We then walked outside, where all the soldiers were present; many of them were standing. They all looked prepared, eyes focused, and they looked determined.
I stared, my gaze focused, as I said, "Today is the day that would mark history, a day that would show we are meant to be, a day that shows everything would change, because we have been preparing for this, so we are marching to the dragon kingdom today. I mean, no one should convince us otherwise." I said, my voice was deep and hoarse as I said those words with so much authority etched in my voice. I went inside to get ready. I polished myself in well-tailored black leather clothes, my hair was well adorned, and I made my lips appealing in case I saw Garcia.
We started the journey; everyone was in place, and we marched to the kingdom unnoticed. I swallowed a deep lump, my heart racing. I'm trying to calm my nerves, but I failed. I can't help wondering what Garcia would think of me when she eventually sees me.
I heard the gentle sounds of footsteps. I turned back to see who it was. I was shocked when I noticed Isabella; she had wrapped her hand on her chest as she walked up to me.
"Please don't start your lectures; I have already made up my mind, and there is nothing you are going to say that would make me change my mind."
She stood in front of me; her gaze was intense as she asked, "Are you sure about this? I want you to be certain that you are not making the wrong decision."
"I have never been so certain."
"Alright, if you insist on going, then I'm going with you."
"Please, don't make things harder than they already are," I complained with a hoarse voice as I walked out of her place without waiting for her to continue with her statement. She followed me quietly, feeling frustrated. I stopped walking and turned to look at her. I felt my heart racing so fast as I turned to look at her. "I'm not finding all these funny; I want you to stay back at the palace and look after it."
With a deep sigh, she walked away to her room. I walked out and led the team to the battlefield. We marched to the kingdom and carried out the plan. Thankfully, Jonathan was there to take the lead while I navigated my way through the back door. I could hear the loud sounds of screams as the kingdom burned in flames.
I followed the scent of Garcia until I found myself in a small wooden room. It was well locked. I teleported into the room, and then I found her alone wandering around while looking scared.
"I'd like you to come with me," I said in a deep, hoarse voice. She acted startled when she heard my voice. When she turned, she noticed I was the one. I immediately saw tears in her eyes, and that was when she surprised me by pinning me against the wall. I could perceive her scent, which was already driving me crazy. Her neck was bare. I almost pulled her closer to my arms to mark her already, but I held myself. Rage surged within me when I noticed the mark of Adrian clearly embedded on her neck.
"Why are you doing this, Zakuski? Why are you back in my life when you were the one who had left me in the past? Now I want to be Adrian, and you are acting so pathetic."
"You need to..."
"I don't want to hear a single word from you. I want you to stop everything and never return to my life because I'm already officially claimed by Adrian." When I heard those words from her lips, it made me even more enraged, which made me roughly grab her hand while bringing her close to me before I teleported away with her, taking her to my kingdom. I immediately sent a mind link to Jonathan, telling them to retreat.
Because right from the beginning I have always known that we can't defeat the demons, I only wanted Garcia and at least wanted to make Adrian feel the pain I was feeling.
Garcia pulled away from my grip; she shook her head in horror and sat down as she lifted her gaze to look at me. "I want to know why you had to go that far. Why?"
"Because..."
"Because you are too weak to accept the reality that I'm not marked by Adrian? You think by making me remember everything, it will make me run back to your arms like a mindless lunatic?"
"It is not the case." I tried lowering her voice as I walked closer to her, wrapped my hand around hers, and made her look into my eyes before I said, "The mark of Adrian is not stopping me from embedding my mark on you."
