You Can Leave
Garcia's POV
"I know you want to leave; let me help you." The voice of the lady who had interrupted me and Zakuski echoed. I turned towards the direction of the voice, and I noticed that she was standing behind the door. I walked up to her because my curiosity was piqued.
"How?"
"I know you want to go back to Adrian, and that's why I am ready to help you. If you really want to go back to him, I'll be ready to help you escape." I lifted my eyebrows, my heart pounding so fast, because there was something about her that seemed suspicious, but I'm ready to take the risk.
"But..."
"I know you don't trust me yet, which I fully understand, but Adrian is no longer himself; he's on a killing spree. You can be the only one to tame his dragon, so you have to go. I am helping you because I don't want my family to be killed by him; they mean so much to me." Her voice trembled; her eyes looked believable. Without a follower, she led the way. I made sure that no one was seeing us. She navigated the way until she found herself in the kitchen. She was about to open a small wooden door to the right of our direction when I suddenly stumbled on a plate, and it fell to the ground. It suddenly alerted the guards who were standing at the door.
"Who is there?" One of them entered the kitchen, their eyes frantically searching. We immediately hid inside an oven, which was the only available option at the moment. Gladly, the oven was cool because it hadn't been in use for a while.
I could hear the sound of his footsteps coming closer, which made my heart pound even faster. I closed my eyes, expecting to be noticed because the footsteps stopped close to the oven.
Suddenly we both felt warm; we checked and realized that the oven had been ignited. We tried to stay calm until they left, but we didn't hear the sound of footsteps leaving, which made me even more scared when the heat increased.
Thirty long seconds felt like hell; pain scorched through my body. I couldn't hold it anymore as I immediately crawled out of the oven while coughing. Emelia also did the same. Our faces were covered in dirt. I could see the angry face of Jonathan; he dragged Emelia on the ground by roughly pulling her hair.
"My lord, please forgive me, please." She pleaded, but her words fell on deaf ears.
Before I knew what was happening, I felt a tough blow across my face. I don't know who did it before I completely blacked out.
I woke up, my heart pounding, my eyes feeling heavier than they were supposed to be. I searched my surroundings, and that was when I noticed that I was in Zakuski's room and in his bed. I immediately tried climbing down only to feel both limbs tied to the edges of the bed with heavy silver chains, which made my skin burn in pain.
I let out a growl until the door pried open, and then I saw Zakuski walk in while wearing a bathroom robe. His hair was wet and curly; he looked soaked in water, and his fangs were clearly visible as he licked them seductively, which made him look more sexy and dangerous.
I struggled to get out of bed, but my actions only proved futile. "Don't waste your energy, little one, because it'll only make things worse; rather, I want you to take deep breaths and accept the reality that you are mine now."
"I can never be yours." I spat in disgust.
I could see pain in his eyes when I said that, then he stood up from his seat and walked towards the table. Before he carried a plate of food, he walked to me and sat beside me, fetching a spoonful of the food as he directed it towards my mouth. "You have to eat; I know you must be hungry."
"I'm not hungry."
"Please eat something because it always hurts me whenever you treat me like I never mattered to you, Garcia."
"Because you never did, everything that happened between us is in the past, and I'd like it to remain that way, because I have had enough of your tantrums, and the commotion that you have been causing is too much. It is high time you stop because I can never be yours."
He was silent as he heard every word, then he placed the plate of food on the table and brought me closer to him as he whispered to my ears, "I have always loved you, and I regret not fighting when I should have; for that reason, I'm ready to be better." He said before he stood up from the bed.
"I'm not going to force you to do anything that you will not be proud of, so if you want to leave, I won't stop you, but I'm only requesting that you stay with me for just a week, and if you still don't want me, then I'll let you go and live with Adrian."
I paused for a moment; his words sounded sincere, and his eyes said an unspoken emotion, which was pain. I opened my mouth to give him an answer, but nothing came out of my lips. Then he walked to me, sat on the bed, and unlocked the chains.
"I have unlocked the chains, so if you decide to leave, I won't stop you, but the only thing I want is for you to have ever cherished what we shared. Then give me the chance of just one week; that's all I'm asking."
Thinking of what Adrian might be going through, I immediately stood up and walked up towards the door. I twisted the doorknob, about to leave, when I heard the voice of my wolf, my wolf who always talks in desperate times: 'You need to stop because he's also our mate.'
