Chapter Twenty Eight: Save Me
A mask and a glove was provided for Jonah, before he was led to the tent, the last thing he wanted was to be seen by a large group of people.
For all he knew, it was going to implicate him, and if they didn't blackmail him like Maxwell had done, then they would be mongers for his help. He hated the attention it would bring to him, so it was best he did it with a facade.
The ladies were separated in different rooms, as their separate energy was distracting.
One at a time, he healed all of them, then he was taken to the male sectors, the process took him about six hours of healing and cleansing people of their impurities, and amidst the last barge, he felt blood trickle down his nose.
Amelia and Adonis were outside the whole time, he didn’t let them suspect something was wrong with him, he didn’t want to worry about it either, so he wiped it with his hands then continued the process.
His head was lighter when he was done, he could barely stand on both feet, and his nose was bleeding even more.
“Jonah, are you okay” Amelia asked, noticing he was quiet after the charade.
“Fine” he muttered before excusing himself.
The camp bubbled with whispers, everyone was talking about the strange man who healed them with a touch, they confused him to be a god, there were so many suggestions, so many questions asked with no hope for answers.
Before Jonah was brought to heal them, Adonis had done a pep talk in the camp to everyone present, he made them sign non-disclosure agreements.
The workers were not excluded from this, they were never to say it outside, nor were they allowed to ask any further questions. It was an experiment, and the experiment was over, they were healthy and fully functioning.
“Hey champ, you did a nice job back there”said Adonis.
Jonah had just cleaned his nose, and had retired to the office, his curious heart wouldn’t let him be, he feared he had worn himself out, and might die, he could not voice his complaint so he sat quietly and listened to him speak.
“Honestly, I don’t know what you are, or where you come from, but what you did today, I really appreciate you, and that’s why I want you to have this, I know men like you wouldn’t want money, that’s why I want you to see it as a way of saying thank you, and not a form of payment” Jonah stared at the check in shock.
Indeed he wasn’t expecting any form of monetary value to be attached to it, he did it because he could, and for what it’s worth he learnt something about himself that very day.
Women and men emitted different energies, their sickness could be told apart without him having to look at them, and the process almost seemed effortless.
“Jonah, are you okay?” Amelia asked again, noticing he had zoned out after Adonis offered him a check.
“Fine, fine” he stuttered.
Taking the check, the figure stunned him, a check of seventy thousand dollars, he had never seen the amount of money in his entire life, talk more of standing the chance of owning it.
“I can’t take this, it’s too much”
“No, it’s not, I want you to have this, as a way of appreciating your gesture to come over,” Adonis said, turning to Amelia.
“Thanks, I would want you to have this as well,” he handed her a check for half of what he had given Jonah.
It took them by surprise, but they accepted it.
Now Amelia drove Jonah back to his house, it was evening already, and they had barely spoken to each other, she didn’t want to bring up the conversation from what had happened earlier so she bid him farewell then drove back home.
On getting home, she noticed a familiar car outside her house, it belonged to Maxwell, reaching over to the car, furiously knocking on the window.
“What are you looking for here!, you can’t just come to my house uninvited,” her tone high pitched, laced with anger she warned him.
“Stay away from me Maxwell, If you have any issue, pick it up with Jonah not me”
As she made do to leave, Maxwell stepped down from his car, immediately reaching out to her.
“Amelia, don’t you dare walk away from me” he pulls her hand, his hard finger clenched around her wrist. Amelia squirmed in pain, as he crushed her wrist.
The burning pain sent her on her knees immediately,
“Max, you are hurting me” she said amidst shortened gasps.
“You caused it, you are always rude to me” he pulled her up to his body, his hands wrapped violently around his waist, he thrust his lips on hers forcing a kiss, Amelia but his lips, followed by a quick slap.
“How dare you!” She cursed.
Aggressively Max trudged towards her, he pulled her by her hair, forcing a kiss on her lips then pushed her back, her head slammed the hard floor.
“Everytime Jonah!, it has always been Jonah, why can’t you see that I love you, you belong to me, me alone !” His fingers shoved into his hair violently as he paced back and forth, without regarding the lady on the floor.
Blood pooling beneath her head, Amelia had already embraced darkness.
“Amelia! Oh no no” he rushed towards her, he slapped her cheeks.
“Amelia, please wake up,it was a mistake!” He said, but Amelia wasn’t waking up at all. He tried waking her but nothing.
While in panic he contemplated his next step, if he takes her to the hospital, he might be held and locked for taking her life, and just when he was about to take the risk, Jonah called Amelia's phone.
An idea sparked in his mind, so he texted Jonah.
Amelia: Jonah I am in trouble, some men are surrounding me, please come save me! Hurry!
