Chapter Fifty Three: A Break In Time

At that point in time Amelia wanted to run back to her room, to close the door and imagine something happened but Maxwell had flicked the light on, he had seen her fidgeting on a spot, with her phone in her hands, he heard her voice.

“Well doctor Amelia, what can I say?, it's funny how you are becoming more predictable by the day, I must say, Jonah really has a toll on you” Maxwell said with a mused look, he walked closer to Amelia with his hands behind his back as he approached her.

Amelia was left in a position, unable to phantom what's next to come, she wanted to say something other than.

‘You don't know what you are saying, damn you’ she short deadly glares at him, her hatred for him was clearly visible in her stare, Maxwell couldn't help but notice, and it gladdens me to say he finally got hurt by it, he might be cunning and most times overbearing, but he only thing it to break Amelia.

He wanted her to see his desperation and adore him for it, but Amelia was always ignorant of it, he knew how bitter her heart was towards him, but he was not prepared to coax her Into thinking she had a choice not to love him.

“Oh yes I know, I really do, because why else will you be out here with your purse, phone and shoes,”

“To take some air” Amelia blurted out in her defence.

“You are a pathetic liar”

He leaned closer to her, his finger traced her nape gently, the warm air proceeding through his nostrils bask on her skin, she felt her skin prickle but her feet were too rooted to move.

“The windows are wide open in your room, wasn't it enough?”

Her scent played with his sense of reasoning, it smelt like delicate flowers in the summer, he leaned closer again to take a whiff, it teased him.

Like a psychopath he savoured her scent, her vulnerability aroused him in the most unspeakable way.

“Damn it” he cursed, he was lost for so long.

“ I just wanted to walk around” she added

“Sure, sure, why don't we walk around, I was also hoping we could walk around, besides exercises are needed” he took her hands against her while, harshly pulling her towards his room.

“Max!Maxwell please” Amelia begged, she feared for the worse, she didn't want to get tied up or beaten, Maxwell was a psychopath, there was no limit to what he might do.

“Hey don't struggle, I don't want to leave a mark on your skin”

“Maxwell”

“We are going for a walk ammy, that's all”

Maxwell pulled her all the way to his room, then he punched some holes on the wall with his fingers and a little passage opened, it was as dark as a tunnel, but as soon as they entered, a sensory light flashed, the ray almost blinding Amelia.

She raised her hands to cover her eyes.

Maxwell house was modernised, with weird technology, it was easy to say he wasn't a doctor because of the financial benefits, because it would take a long ass time for a doctor in his level to achieve such, but now wasn't a time to discuss his financial prowess.

“Dim the lights' ' he commanded his in house AI and soon enough the lights were deemed and he pulled Amelia deeper.

“This doesn't look like a place to take air,” Amelia said, her throat bubbling with inconvenience.

“Yes it is, are you walking?, yes or no?; and besides everywhere here is air conditioned, there's so much air for you to take in and feel relaxed here,” he said.

Amelia was short for words, Maxwell had promised her she wouldn't be hurt, so it was either two things; he was going to do really bad things to her personally, like lock her in here so no police officer wouldn't find her, or he was taking her to Jonah.

Those were the only scenery in her head, and as luck may have it, a slight suppressed groan gave off an answer to her unending question.

She was going to see Jonah. Her heart beat quickened, what has this sick prick done to him!

“Jonah!Jonah?”

“He can hear you,” Maxwell said, totally annoyed.

“Motherfu*ker! What have you done to him!”

“Wait till you see for yourself would you”

A frown settled on his face as he relentlessly pulled her to the room he had kept Jonah all this while.

At the sight of him, Amelia tugged really hard on Maxwell's hand, but he was a step ahead, he pulled her back.

“Move one more step and I will have his legs lasered off” he threatened.

Amelia stood in a spot, fazed by this, she was stuck between running to the bleeding man or standing her guard and listening to Maxwell.

The room was made of strong still, she could almost feel it had heating rings in it, and it could cook him if he wanted it.

Jonah was suspended on his toes, his blood dropping to the floor beneath him, his hands widely held apart by a spring chain that extended from both sides of the walls.

“Jonah can't die, Maxwell he's an innocent man, Maxwell please” Amelia fell on her knees, her hands clasped in a plea.

“Please, please Maxwell I beg of you!,”

“For this cheap crap? Seriously?”

Maxwell was engulfed by disgust.

“He's innocent, Jonah hasn't done anything wrong, if he dies here I won’t be able to forgive myself”

“You don't have to, he's just a cheap lowlife dog that happens to have magical hands, the moment I chop his hands off he's just useless and you know”

“Maxwell”

Maxwell sighed, it was becoming hard to really attain Amelia as a girlfriend, the sight of her kneeling before him because of Jonah made him nauseous he had to think of something, anything at all that would make her be with him, even if it was forced.

“How badly do you want to see him free?” he asked Amelia.

“Please Maxwell, I beg you, I will do anything”

“Anything?”
