Chapter Nine: Your Time Is Near
As Jonah got home, he was secluded by darkness once more, his thoughts as noisy as a circus.
Amelia was the only reason he felt the least calm at that moment, she was the only reason why his thoughts were not clawing at the walls of his mind like it did earlier.
His eyes darted around the room, a familiar darkness lurked around, the little bulb suspended wasn’t giving off much as he expected, Jonah sighed in exasperation as he slid down to the floor.
He never wanted to leave Amelia’s house, he didn’t know how to tell her that he doesn’t feel welcome at home anymore, even though he had told her about the dream and how dreadful it was, he could not get himself to convey the fact that it didn’t ease his mind.
He hated that he was worried, and he couldn’t do anything to help.
On this very day, Jonah chose to sleep outside rather than being held captive in his own room, he wanted to feel free to run away, and he wanted a witness at least, if something happened to him while he was asleep, after what happened the previous night, Jonah feared sleep.
He stood from the dusty floor, then pulled the clothes he wore, the weather was warm, and almost stuffy, he needed something utterly different so he walked out bare chested.
He had hoped he would be able to comfort himself with the stars in the sky, and maybe stay awake, but his hopes were defeated by a wave of fresh air.
The young man laid mindlessly on the floor of this house, snoring without a care in the world, it had barely been ten minutes since he assured himself he was capable of withstanding sleep, just for the thoughts of Amelia to cross his mind again.
Her voice was a lullaby, it sent him deeper with each second.
This night wasn’t any different from the last, but this time it had a more specific purpose and message, it seemed like a pathway to an answer to a question he asked himself that very day when he fell down to the floor.
The brass rusted knife being shoved continuously into him, he saw it all, but this time in a third part body, his subconscious mind swirled around the premises, it hovered around his body.
But just before he was rushed by a fleet of police officer, he could spot flickers of light smiting his body, lights resembling fireflies hovered around him, the sound it made was celestial, it emitted his body till he was fully clothed by it.
The police officer seemed to be oblivious about it as they lifted him then placed him into the Ambulance, he was still undergoing that process of change.
In a blink of an eye he saw himself within the four corners of the ambulance, covered in a thin shit, the cuts on his forehead healed right before his eyes.
Still calm and collected he swayed around the van still every other scene that happened played before him.
Jonah had no control over his dream, so he had no idea where he was going next.
He could think, he could remember things from the waking world but he had nobody to carry out his worlds.
The scene became blan and soon enough everything took form before his eyes, he saw himself, bare chested in a mediaeval setting, the rocks were bigger on the earth and the air was chilly.
A man with much more longer hair, a bare skin wrapped around his torso, sat before a fireplace, there were people seated around him.
All of them except him were bruised. From the looks of it, this man who had an uncanny resemblance to him was much more gruesome and hairy. He took the form of a Viking and Jonah was intrigued by it.
The man before him placed his hands on the men beside the fireplace, and without being told he could already tell they were being healed.
He watched intensely as the man healed all of them, but just then the scene turned blank and then a huge sea surfaced before him.
He saw the man being held by a bunge of Vikings like he was and he was tossed into the ocean, right into the mouth of a whale.
The scene turned blank again, then reappeared in a different time, much more civilised than the one he had just encountered.
A different scenery but the same activity, a less bulky man healed a fleet of bruised people, he could tell he brought about peace and balance in whatever society he
Found himself but just like the last, he was caught and killed by the enemies.
This scene was shown up to five time again before he saw himself, he saw dark thick shadows flowing around him like stubborn flees.
Behind his fram stood a fiery smoke, same from last night.
“Your time is near Jonah, you can’t run away from it this time” a high pitched voice yelled.
Jonah felt the urge to close his ears but he had non, he waved his head in disagreement.
“Use your time well, act fast, take a purpose”
Jonah began to run, he wanted to save his ears from exploding into tiny mucus, but soon his delima ended as he jerked from the floor.
Perspiration flooded the earth beneath him even though the weather was chilly now, Jonah felt his body burn, it was as though he had been placed under the scorching sun to roast.
Petrified Jonah stared around the house for a possible threat but their head non and it was so late at night.
He picked up this shirt then ran back into the room.
The night went back in centipede speed, and earlier after his nightmare doctor Amelia had demanded that he come to the hospital that morning, in full incognito.
It turns out their little secret has been found by the doctor Moxley.
The boys healed the previous day had been found and now in the hospital and chosen to silence the act.
Jonah knew the secret wound was hard to hide, knowing the patients were not aware they were being experimented on.
He had a similar reaction when he figured out he came out without a scratch, for sure he was aware he was stabbed and anyone in his position had already prepared their mind for pain.
Jonah wore this overall as usual, this time he decided to put a little effort into looking nice.
Every day he spent in that hospital, he was willing to blend in with the white walls, but today made an attempt to make his hair look nicer. He took his bath properly and tagged a better perfume into his needs than his wants.
As he walked into the hospital, Amelia was the first to get his attention, she was worried sick and today she was the one that looked like she hasn’t slept a bit, her eye were puffy and her lips were crusty.
“Jonah!, finally” she yanked him by the hands then pulled him to the corners.
“So this is how it’s going to be, we need to heal these people, you can take it as a way to finally test your abilities, they are in coma and have deep wounds” she said in panic.
Jonah listened intensively as she gave him his role.
“So I want you to wake them up, can you do that”
“I don’t know for now, but I will try” he said.
Her eyes darted around the corner every now and then, making sure they were the only once in the premises as the last thing she wanted was to arouse suspicion.
After being told what to do they both went to their various sectors, but all along Jonah could not give his full attention into his chore for the day, he kept on zoning out every now and then because of the dream he had the night before she called.
He didn’t have the chance to tell Amelia about the dream so he chose to relieve himself of the burden by sharing the dream with her this time around.
During lunch Jonah and Amelia sat on the same table, eating when he proposed his thoughts.
“Remember you asked me how I came about this powers, I might have answers”
Amelia paused in her tracks, “How?Do you remember anything?”
“Not really, I had another dream, but this time it wasn’t entirely scary, it was like a remembrance of what I would call a passed life, I saw some people who looked exactly like me,”
Amelia was one lost, “please expanciate”
“It seems I might have a whole generation of men with this ability. Men who look exactly like me”
“Like your father?”
“No, like a reincarnation,” he concluded.
“Wow, well that explains a lot, so do you know anything aside that”
“No, you called, and I can't remember much from the dream anymore”
“You know what?, how about another dinner date, this time we will do more research”
