Chapter Fifty Nine: To Much To Drink

Amelia watched Eric leave the room, she was expecting Maxwell to follow suite but he seemed to take longer, she was anxious, she hoped she wasn’t the sole reason why their little pep talk came to an end, the last things she wanted now was to provoke Maxwell into thinking she was still onto him.

Even though she was. She wanted to stay clear of the the drama that came with it, Maxwell came out few minutes later, finely dressed in suit he had an impeccable smile on his face, now she could see the resemblance between him and his mother, as they stood close to each other.

Amelia noticed she rolled her eyes occasionally, obviously telling her son what sort of a jerk Amelia was by spilling a drink in her EXPENSIVE dress that she bought for a million pounds.

Amelia could not take it, the party was a sham and almost aware of her time, she wanted to go back, and besides it didn’t give off the warm vibes of a house warming party, it was more of a chit chat zone for people in suit and fury dresses.

Not only that, on this very day she had been called a peasant but an overprotective mother, who had given birth to a psychopath.

Amelia gulped down another glass of wine, everything was just messed up. She just wanted to leave. She wanted to go back to being a doctor without all the odds that followed, but now she has a baby to save and Jonah to free.

She can’t call the police because obviously, the culprit in question is a rich momma's boy, and also smart as hell.

Maxwell's eyes met hers, in the crowd, she passed a smile toward shin but he frowned at her, Amelia had no idea if he was frowning because of what the mother must have told him or worse, that he knew that she was the one behind the door the whole time.

She wanted to know for herself rather than staying tin doubt so she confidently hopped down from her chair, she moved towards the mother and son.

“Hey” she said the moment she got to the same place as them.

Maxwell and Gloria both turned to see her, their expression was indifferent, it gave nothing off, it made it even hard for her to know what they were thinking or saying.

“I want to go home, I think I might have had too much to drink” she said while holding her stomach, Maxwell walked up to her, he pulled her by her chin with one of his fingers. A smile appeared on his face as he leaned down to kiss her.

Amelia had no idea if it was just for the show, or if he did that because of his lust for her.

“We will go soon baby” he kissed her again.

“Oh my goodness, the both of you are so sweet to each other, stop it, you make me miss your dad so much” Gloria said in a teasing manner, Maxwell smirked.

“You should miss your husband indeed, all my life I have watched the both of you obsess with each other, and I think I might as well have found Mine” he kissed Amelia again.

Something was definitely off between the both of them, first it was Gloria pretending like she liked Amelia in the first place after she had openly called her names, and secondly was Maxwell.

He was deceitful.

Amelia literally felt really bad and unsafe being in their midst, it was as though they were snakes, very venomous snakes in green grasses.

“Can I leave now?,I don’t feel so well. And I have so much to do tomorrow” she persisted.

“Sure,”

Maxwell turned to his mother and placed a kiss on her forehead, then her hands.

“I will be back tomorrow, or maybe next year”

“Oh silly you!,” she slapped him playfully on the shoulder then pulled him in for a hug, Amelia’s eyes rested on Gloria, she was still finding it hard to believe it was the same lady that had earlier abused her.

“Don't worry mom, I will see you soon enough” he kissed her cheeks again, then turned to take Amelia's hands, he placed a kiss on her hands then closed her with the jacket as they began to walk towards the path they came in with.

They were taking the chopper back home.

•••

Few hours passed, and they were finally at home, Maxwell Hasn't said a thing, he was just preparing dinner, In silence he did do little to talk to her, not like she should he worried about that since their relationship was a scam, but the Maxwell she knew was persistent, he would do anything just for him to have a conversation with her.

“Hey, can I assist?” She took the vegetables that he placed on the table then began to wash them, even tonight Herbert already washed.

Maxwell didn’t say a thing.

Amelia was very uncomfortable, she persisted again, this time she got close to him and tried to tell more jokes.

Maxwell didn’t say a thing, frustration and confusion intertwined In her mind, she just wanted to know what he was thinking that was all.

“Max” she finally confronted him.

“What do you want?” He responded.

He had never been so bland with her in his entire life, “what’s wrong, you are acting strange?”

“I believe you don’t want me to act otherwise, so why are you asking?”

“Because” she lost the words to say.

“I heard what you told Eric” she finally blurted out.

She was tired of acting cool about it, and wanting him to threaten her with it.

“ I know,” he responded in a chill manner, Amelia was taken aback by this, she wasn’t expecting him to be so cool.

“So let me get this straight, you kidnapped a baby from its father, sick and almost at the point of death, you placed the child in our care and then!you kidnapped the child!”

“Slice the garden eggs I need now” Maxwell pointed to her.

Amelia roed her eyes, she tossed the knife away.

“You are so desperate, sometimes I wonder how you got to this point, you need to be arrested and detained for life, you are a heartless psychopath!”

She was already getting on Maxwell edge. But he was calm and collected while he prepared the food.

•••

When Maxwell was done, he presented Amelia food in her room, then left.

Amelia was still very much aggravated, but she didn't show it. She didn't want any more problems at the moment, she just took her food then went out of the room, towards the path where Jonah was kept.

She wanted to sneak into the room and feed him, or maybe have a conversation with him, but once more Maxwell was a step ahead, he stopped her half way, then took the plate from her hands.

“Once more you can't stay a whole day without seeing your lap dog, why don't we take that trip together”

With the plate in his hands, they both walked towards the dungeon.

On getting there, Jonah was awake.

“Shit Jonah!” She ran towards him. Her hands fondled his cheeks, tears welled in her eyes.

“How are you doing?, are you hurt, what's wrong with you!”

Jonah didn't say much, he just held her as she hugged him.

He lets her cry, all she wanted before she pulled away.

“I brought you food” she said, she ran towards Maxwell then pulled the plates from his hands, but Maxwell was adamant to let go, rather he dragged it forcefully from her then tossed it away.

“What's wrong with you!” she shoved him.

“Why do you have to be so mean!” she shoved him again. Before she hurriedly ran towards the plate then began to gather the food.

Maxwell walked up to Jonah, he punched him hard on the face.

“Punk!”

Jonah could not fight back, he had been injected and most of his muscles were useless.

“How does it feel to be powerless huh!” He punched him hard again, Jinnah fell to the floor unable to stand, Amelia left what she was doing then ran towards Maxwell.

“Let him go!,” she pulled his clothes in an attempt to pull him away but it was futile as Maxwell was grounded now, he continued to punch Jonah till he knocked him out.

“You are a monster!, a damn monster” he pushed him hard while hitting him hard on the chest, Maxwell could not take he whining he pushed her away. As a result of this, Amelia fell to the floor, her face hitting the hard tiles with force. Which dented her skin.

Blood began to trickle down her face, Maxwell ran towards her, he wanted to hell her but Amelia pushed him away then ran out of the cell in tears.

She hated him so much, so so much that death would be a better choice, than to see him again.
