Chapter Sixty Five: Seduction

As she sat back to listen to him, he gently held her palms together and his voice was barely audible. The expression on her face prompted him to raise his voice a little bit. She complained of not being able to comprehend what he was saying. He assumed she found the whispers lovely, but to her, it was very annoying.

“My mother will be coming to the town tomorrow and I need you to be in your finest behavior,” he said, sounding more serious now.

Amelia chuckled softly. His cheeks flushed as he believed he had lifted her mood with those words but pretty soon, her face etched with a big frown. She kept it low, not wanting him to question why she had that awful expression on her face.

“I need you to be on your finest dress,” he added and gulped as he imagined how pretty she would look once his mother had arrived, “the driver will take you shopping. I need you to wear a nice dress for dinner.”

Her expression remained the same and it was high time Maxwell discontinued himself from trying to impress her. He decided in his mind not to be harsh with his words this time around, but at the same thing, he hated it whenever he felt his words were being regarded as joke or riddle.

If the person being spoken to didn't show any sign of full attention, he could be annoyed. At this point with Amelia, he kept his emotions in check since he was even still trying to convince her how much he loved her.

She didn't say one word despite the many words he had spilled. She was not reluctant as well. She was indeed ready to carry out any task he instructed her to carry. Maxwell felt ease at that thought, and focused on building her emotional strength and attachment to himself.

“I would do everything you've told me. But I have one request to make,” she said, slightly raising her fingers to signify the urgency. Maxwell didn't stop talking rapidly, so she had to indicate for him to pause his speech.

“Can I get to see Jonah? It can just be at some intervals. I mean, um, regulated intervals.” She requested, shutting her eyes and blinking them rapidly, as she eagerly anticipated his response. She had assumed it would be negative, but she still gave it a try anyways. After all, trying something out isn't a crime. Not doing so is close to being a crime.

“There is no problem about that. I grant your wish.” He said and she placed her palms on her face to hide her emotions. He knew she was happy about the news. Who would expect him to permit her access to the pack cell to see Jonah daily, or as much as she wanted?

Perhaps Maxwell didn't believe Jonah could have some secret plans with Amelia. They didn't have to converge before that could be possible. He was being kind, according to his belief. And again, he trusted his instincts not to let him regret the wish he just granted.

“You will be living with me for two more weeks,” he suddenly added, making Amelia's racing heart come to a quick pause. She focused on his lips, eager to learn about what his next words would be.

When he guessed that she focused on his lips, he smacked them and winked at her. She shifted her gaze from him as usual, which led to a simple change of tone in his voice.

“Depending on how you cooperate with me and follow my rules, I will either release you and your chick, or you both shall suffer…” he said, but a little cough came up his throat.

“Both of you will suffer the consequences of your actions if you don't cooperate. But trust me, you want to cooperate with me. You'd like to go home with your little boy.” He said, referring to Jonah.

Sha stared at him with a mix of shock and happiness written all over her face. She wasn't sure of the most perfect feeling she should attach to her face at this point, so her face went blank and she gulped at each word he said.

She knew most of his words did come to her unexpectedly, but since she was already ready and had made up her mind to obey all his rules, then nothing would sound new to her.

She nodded her head briefly and stood to leave. Maxwell stood as well as though he was giving her a standing ovation, like though he really loved her to honor her that way.

He grasped her palms lovingly, once more, but she couldn't feel any connection. No chemistry was obvious between the two of them. She was only feeling tense and silently wishing he'd let go of those hands and permit her to leave to her room.

She exhaled a sharp sigh after he dropped her hands. She pushed a little smile to her chin so the sigh wouldn't make the whole scenario awkward. A large smirk also appeared on his chin but she knew he was only happy because he could exploit her as much as he wanted. She couldn't wait to live with him for two weeks and finally gain her freedom.

Though she didn't know what awaited her in the period of those two weeks, she felt hopeful and wished everything would go well. She sensed mischief laced with his smirk and big grin as she walked out of sight and vanished into her room.

Maxwell exhaled satisfactorily as she left, and then he pulled out his phone and made a quick call to someone. He informed them to send the package out.

He didn't lower his voice because he didn't feel there was a reason to. At the same time, he wasn't intending to be so loud about it. Only those who paid attention to eavesdropping information could hear him clearly.

Amelia waited behind when she heard his voice on a call. She was so curious to know what he was saying, and who he was speaking to. She didn't understand most of what he was saying, but she stood still, at that corner where she wouldn't be sighted, and kept listening, wishing she'd hear some coherent words from him and keep to her heart.

She'd been curious for long time to know more about Maxwell, and if this was her chance, she would be so happy to grasp it.

Maxwell kept speaking to her person on phone, and his voice went from high to low. He moved around like though he could guess someone was around him. He was more focused on the call that Amelia had showed up and he didn't know.

She wanted to listen more attentively and that probed her to come out of her hiding place. When she realized he was about to turn to look at her again, she crawled back to where she was. She made a mental note of each single word she heard, hoping to make more research on it.

It didn't make much sense to her but her determination to understand Maxwell better was firm, and she couldn't wait to comprehend what she was storing into her memory.

She felt the ease with which Maxwell spoke with the person on the phone with, and when he dropped the call, she hurried off to her room, unsure of how he would be convinced if she only said she had not been able to walk into her room.

Maxwell hung up, quite satisfied with whom he'd spoken with. He walked back to his room after staring at the direction where Amelia took her room. He believed she would be asleep in her room and never trusted that she could have been eavesdropping.

As he walked back into his room, he dropped his phone on the bed and also collapsed on the bed. He was already making plans for the arrival of his mother and he would like Amelia to cooperate with him. He had planned better gifts for her if she wouldn't let him down and punishment, severe one, If she would.

It seemed like a do or die affair. He was quiet satisfied with it. Who could question his authority?

He heaved deep sighs of relief after the day's stress and laid off on his bed, his heart beating slowly till he drifted off.
