Sandra's sad tale.
I stared at Sandra with so much fear written in my eyes.
"What do we do now?" I asked her in fear. One thing that scared me the most, was the brutality that awaited us, of we should get caught.
The most annoying part of the whole was that if we would get killed, then it'll be after torturing us.
"I'm about to take a big risk. Just play along. Even if I am caught, just continue the journey and make sure that you're safe." She responded, and I was left heartbroken.
What risk was she talking about, and how would I continue this journey without her?
"If you're caught, then I don't think I'd be able to do this without you." I responded to her in tears. At this point, I was already sick and tired of all the happening.
"Open this door, right now!" The voice barked from outside the car, and I shivered in fear. I just continued staring at Sandra, while wait for her to come up with a suggestion.
"What are we going to do now?" I asked her.
She beckoned on me to hide at the back of the car, and I obliged immediately. I was surprised with what she did next.
Sandra wined down the car glass, and spoke in a language that I didn't understand. Immediately, the security officer apologized to us, and we immediately drove off.
Immediately she ignited the car engine again, I stared at her in disbelief.
"What did you say to him?" I asked her from the back seat.
She kept mute for a while, without saying anything to me. I really wanted to know the language that she had spoken to the security officer.
"Can we not talk about that?" She asked me, and I paused.
What was she trying to keep away from me?
Why didn't she want to talk to me about it?
"What is it that you're trying to hide from me? How do you think that I can trust you, when you can't just explain this kind of issues to me?" I questioned her in tiredness.
Immediately I asked her that question, the whole car went silent. It was as if she had been waiting for me to say something to her or maybe, she was thinking of the exact word to say to me.
"No, it's not like that. You don't have to misunderstand." She replied.
"Then explain to me!" I said to her.
We both paused for a while, as the only sound that could be heard, was obviously the sound of the wheels of the vehicle, cruising over the main road.
"Fine. Since you insist, then I have no other choice than tell you everything..." Sandra, said.
"I'm all ears." I responded immediately.
With the way that she was acting, I knew that she was finding it hard to talk to me. I didn't know what it was, and I was getting more curious as a result of her silence.
I really needed to know what she was trying to keep away from me.
"It's a very long story." She began.
"Please, start from somewhere." I replied in an inquisitive manner.
"The truth of the whole matter is that my parents were killed by my uncle. My dad was an alpha of the moon pack, while my uncle who was his younger brother was very envious of him. As time went by, he succeeded in eliminating my father..." She said amidst tears, and I immediately touched her shoulder softly.
This was the first time that I had seen her in this mood, and I felt bad because I was the cause of it. Maybe, that was the reason that she didn't want to talk about it.
"Ohh, my bad. I'm so sorry that I made you remember your past. I apologize. Meanwhile, we can forget about this topic." I said to her in a passionate manner.
She looked at me with a warm smile on her face, and I felt very happy that she had a rare personality of being happy, even when she was hurt and broken.
"You don't owe me an apology. It's my destiny, and it's also my past." She responded.
"Ohh! I'm glad that you've overcome that feeling." I responded to her, with a warm smile.
"Yes. So, as an alpha's daughter, it is a must that I'd learn the moon language, and also know how to speak the goddess language..." She explained to me, and I gasped in surprise.
"Is that what you spoke to that security official, and what effect did it have on him?" I asked her with a puzzled look.
She smiled at me, as she continued what she was saying.
"Yes, that's the language that I spoke earlier. About the effect; the language is only known by less than eight hundred people in this world. When you converse in this language, you easily get away with everything because you're seen as one of the rarest gem alive." She explained, and I sat still in puzzle.
I was just very shocked with the explanation that she had given to me. This was indeed a brilliant discovery, and I was glad that I had learnt something new.
"I'm dumbfounded..." I replied in awe.
She smiled, before replying further.
"Yup. No one knows about it, and we'll swore an oath of confidentiality, before learning the language." She continued.
I stared at her, with a puzzled expression.
"If you swore an oath of confidentiality, then why did you tell me? Are you not scared of dying or the worst happening to you?" I asked her in an inquisitive tone.
"Well, I believe that the covenant was broken, after the death of my father. Even if anything happens now, then I wouldn't have any kind of regrets at all, because I confided in the right person." She responded to me, and I smiled at her.
It was just a great moment of genuine sisterhood.
"Thank you for believing in me. Sorry to ask, is that your uncle still alive?" I asked her.
"Of course, that monster is still alive. He is the reason that I have to pass through that this very difficult phase of my life. Well, I'd make sure I end his life, and I don't care if it is the last thing that I would do." She spoke with so much bitterness in her voice, and I knew that she meant each of those words.
