The third moon.
He stared at me in disbelief, like I had said something abominable.
"You tried to do what?" He asked with a raised voice, and immediately disengaged his hand from mine.
I paused and looked at him wearily. This was really going to be my doom.
"You heard me right..." I muttered, with my head still bent in shame and uncertainty.
At this point, I was deeply worried with what I was going to say to him.
"Come again, I didn't get you." He asked further.
Even though his questions were clear enough, I still kept mute as I tried to ponder about what my next move was going to be.
"I tried to kill Alpha Roman..." I repeated again, and this time, we both went calm. Obviously, he was really trying to process the possibility of what I had said to him.
Honestly, I knew that it might be hard for him to believe, and I didn't blame him for it.
"You must be teasing me..." He began. "The Alpha Roman that I know is very brave, and he has never lost a fight to warriors of other packs, talk more of a mere woman..." Vincent spoke, and his words deeply infuriated me at that instant.
"What do you mean by a mere woman?" I thundered in anger. "Well, I'm not surprised that you can say that as well. It quite obvious that one of the norms in your family is disrespecting and degrading women." I yelled at him, and he jolted in shock.
Probably, he didn't expect me to say that, but I didn't care. Why would he even refer to me as a mere woman?
That was really degrading.
"You're totally misunderstanding my point, ma'am. I apologize for trying to infuriate you." He said, and my heart melted immediately.
To be frank, he was the first man that had ever accepted to be wrong, and also apologize immediately. This was really heartwarming.
One of my many weaknesses, were apology. I really had a soft heart that could be melted by any kind of apology at all.
"Oh! I apologize for overreacting as well. It's just that this whole drama is trying to get into my head." I muttered with a sigh, and he raised his head before asking me a question.
"So, you were saying something, ma'am. You were talking about Alpha Roman, and how you tried to kill him. Can you explain better?" He asked.
Now, I didn't know the next words that I needed to say that might justify what I had done. Honestly, I didn't also know what to say or think about the whole dramatic incident.
"He has been taking advantage of me since day one, and I couldn't bear it any longer..." I cried out in fear and grief.
Even though that I was trying very hard to control my tears, it seemed very impossible to do.
"You don't to cry, ma'am. Just hold back your together and finish up the story, so that we would know the next step to take." He said to me with a warm smile, and I nodded immediately.
I didn't have a choice, other than to narrate the whole incident to him. Well, since he already knew what his brother was capable of doing, it wouldn't be a big deal for him to understand my terrible tale.
"So, I can't really remember everything that happened that faithful day, but I think that he tried to force himself on me, and I hit him with a flower vase, and he passed out..." I explained.
He gasped in surprise as well, as I noticed the look on his face. Maybe, he didn't believe that I could do something like that.
Well, everyone had a limit to what they could endure, and I didn't want to push further. Alpha Roman, had frequently continued to belittle me, to the extent that I couldn't endure it anymore, so I decided to take the bold step of fighting for myself.
"Just that...?" He asked with an expression less look.
"Nope... After I was convinced that he must've passed out, I dragged him into the toilet, and I hit his head with a metal twice, before tying him up." I explained further.
To be honest, I was even getting disgusted by my own explanations, as it made me feel like I was also a murderer like Alpha Roman.
Nevertheless, if it was the price that I had to pay for my freedom, then I'd do that with my whole heart.
"Damn! He would definitely wake up, but not the same. He would only begin to remember what happened to him, after the next eclipse..." Vincent announced to me, and I felt a wave of happiness. Temporary happiness...!
Even though that I didn't know the time that the next eclipse was going to take place, I was still very convinced that it was going to be worthwhile.
"Honestly, I'm confused. I don't know if that is a lot of time from now." I responded with a shaky voice.
One of the things that was really confusing to me about my life, was why the moon goddess, allowed to experience such pain and tribulations. From the very first day that I could remember, it has always been from one problem to another.
Honestly, it was really tiring.
"We can figure out something to do before that time. The next eclipse is like three moons away, that's in the next six months. So, before he would regain his sanity, we must've been able to achieve something." He explained to me.
Vincent was really an epitome of strength and humanity. The way that he always treated my problems like his, was really what being happy about.
"I just hope so." I sighed in tiredness.
Not far from us, I saw a log of wood that was piled up together, and I decided to sit on it and keep thinking about my life.
"You just gave to be strong. We would definitely make it out of this phase alive." Vincent, admonished. Just out of nowhere, a large python appeared at the back of Vincent.
"Turn your back..." I screamed at him.
