Uncovering Vincent's dark secrets.
After what seemed like an eternity, we finally moved away from the sight of Karen.
"What just happened?" I asked in a shocked state. Honestly, I was really trying my best to figure out what I had just experienced.
"You just encountered a spirit." Vincent responded to me with a smile.
We continued the rest of the journey in silence, as I was still trying very hard to process what I had seen with my eyes.
"But, why did she turn into an evil spirit so fast...?" I asked him in surprise.
Deep down inside of me, I was feeling kind of guilty that we didn't take her along and also save her.
"It doesn't take time for spirits to possess someone, and take over their souls." He began. "In the past, you knew her as Karen, but the moment that she ate that apple of doom, her Identity changed into something spiritual." Vincent said.
I didn't know if it were as a result of so much thoughts that I had going through my mind, that made everything that he was trying to say to me, sounded like a parable.
Indeed, I was really confused with the way that things were going.
"Now, what would be her fate?" I asked him in a sober mood. I really felt very bad that she was going to be subjected to live a weird life.
One thing about these spirits, was the fact that they were overly too cruel to even hear the cries of their victims. I couldn't even remove the picture of the similar experience that I had encountered in the past, talk more of wishing it for someone else.
Well, I just prayed that the good spirits would be with her.
"Her fate would be determined by them. It's a pity that she didn't listen to me. Now, they would really teach her a very bitter lesson." He muttered with a sigh.
Anyways, our lives had to go on. We didn't have to continue dwelling in what had happened in the past.
Now, what seemed to bother me the most, was the volcano that was still ahead of us. Even though that I was in a haste to escape, I didn't also need to underestimate the power of what that volcano could do.
It could melt anyone that tried to cross it.
"So, what do we do next?" I asked him with a blank expression. Even though that I had a lot to say, I was worried about pressuring him to do what he didn't want to do.
We didn't need to make any kind of mistake in this life defining moments.
"Honestly, I'm really trying my best to recollect. We really need to be careful to make it across the volcano, once it goes off." He explained.
Here, it was going to be another challenge, because I still had some questions to ask.
"But, how are we going to know when it goes off? It's already getting dark..." I asked him with a weary look.
One thing that I've been so scared about, was spending the night in a place like this. Since it was normal for spirits to walk around in the day time, I knew that the night would be something else.
"That is exactly what I'm trying to figure out about. We really need to know the right time that we would make it across that volcano." He said.
At this point, I didn't have any other word to say. The only thing that gave me motivation was the fact that I was still breathing. The fact that I always got into trouble whenever that I tried to escape from the claws of my wicked Alpha, was very worrisome.
It wasn't normal.
Just then, a serious thought came into my mind.
Why did Vincent agree to go with me all along?
Why has he been playing along all these while?
If truly that the Alpha was his brother as he said, then it meant that my life was in a great risk, as he wouldn't hesitate to hand me over to him.
"Sorry to disturb you, but there's this question that I've been meaning to ask you..." I heard myself saying those would.
It wasn't like I didn't know what to say, but I was trying my very best not to sound round.
"Sure, ma'am. Go ahead." He gave me the permission to go ahead with a smile.
Now, the ball was left in my court to play.
"So, why have you been loyal to me?" I began my first question. "You had so much chances to escape or runaway to anywhere that you chose in this world, but you chose to remain true to me. Are you up to something?" I finally asked him.
Although these questions might sound weird to an extent, I really knew what I was talking about.
Immediately I asked that question, I noticed the change of mood in Vincent's countenance.
Honestly, I didn't mean to upset him, but I was just very inquisitive to know.
"I have no bad intentions, ma'am. From the very first day that I saw you at the auction stage, I knew that you were different from the rest that he had brought back home and defiled..." He explained.
Immediately Vincent said these, I stared at him in utter bewilderment. He knew all these while that I was trying to escape, and he decided to help me?
Wow!
"How?" "Where?"
"Do you mean to tell me you knew about that auction day, and you were also present?" I asked him in a very flabbergasted manner. I just wanted to be sure of what my eyes just heard.
"I was there. I was the one that lifted you up..." He said.
At this point, I knew that I didn't have any other thing to hide from him.
"So, why did you follow me to escape?" I asked in in absolute shock.
He paused for a while, before replying me.
"If I didn't escape with you, he was definitely going to kill me..." He muttered in despair.
