The maiden's sad tale.

I looked at him in surprise, as I found it very hard to process what he had just said.

What did he mean by that?

If that fuel had finished, then it meant that the rest of my journey had become very fruit less.

"So, what do you suggest...?" I asked him in a very composed manner.

"I think the remaining fuel can still lead us to where we're going to." He replied, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Honestly, I had almost lost my mind, when he made the initial announcement. The rest of the journey continued in silence, as we all remained still in our thoughts.

It wasn't an easy journey.

"So, you were telling me something." I asked the maiden, and she nodded her head.

"Yes... Yes, ma'am..." She stuttered, and I smiled. It was quite obvious that she was still tensed, and she was also finding it hard to talk.

Well, I've been there before, and I just hoped that she would have her freedom, soonest.

"Alright then. You can continue. I'm all ears." I said to her with a warm smile.

In as much as I wanted to know her story, I also noticed that the men in the car, were also trying very hard to hold back their emotions.

"So, the orphanage decided to start selling us gradually, so that they would be able to improve the cost of living. So they said." She gulped down a large saliva and cleared her throat.

"Take your time, my love. No one is in a rush." I said to her with a warm smile.

She nodded calmly, as she was trying to remain composed.

"Thank you, ma. Gradually, it became a daily routine that they would sell one of us everyday, until they increased the number. The orphanage started selling us in higher numbers; five to six in a day." The maiden explained, and I gasped in shock and horror.

Phew!

Honestly speaking, this was really terrible. Very very terrible.

"I feel for you, my dear. You've been through a whole lot, and I hope that you'd get the opportunity to have a perfect life." I said to her with a warm smile, and she smiled happily.

The fact that she was gradually regaining her confidence, was really worth being happy for.

"Thank you very much, ma." She appreciated with a smile.

"Sure. You're always welcomed. So, was this orphanage not getting any kind of support from the government, and none profit organizations?" I asked her.

Honestly, I really needed to get the full details about the whole incident. I didn't know the reason, but I really wanted to.

"Nope, the organization was obviously getting some funds and allocations, but they were so blinded by greed." She continued.

Honestly, one of the biggest problem that our world was facing, was greed. Everyone wanted to have it all, that they mostly didn't care about how they would achieve that goal even at the detriment of others.

"Damn! This is just so bad and terrible. I can't imagine what the lives of those children would have turned out to become." I muttered in rage.

At this point, I just wished that I could lay my hands on those monsters, and teach them a bitter lesson.

People like Alpha Roman, didn't deserve to be alive, after all.

"Exactly, ma'am. We were made to pass through the most humiliating form of torture and abuse. Although I don't know what the future holds for me, but I'm glad that I'm still alive till this day." She said with a smile.

Honestly, most of us had really suffered.

"Aww. You'd definitely be alive. I just want you to be optimistic that everything would turn out well for you." I said to her with a big smile.

From the looks on her face, I could clearly see how excited and happy that she was about the whole conversation.

One of the weird things about them in that castle, was that they didn't talk to each other. As weird as it sounds, it was the way that they operated, and I found it very weird and absurd.

Maybe, their own partner of emotional blackmail, was distancing people from each other, and making them hallucinate like they weren't normal.

"Thank you so much, ma. Indeed, it's been long that I last felt this way." The maiden appreciated.

Well, I wasn't even done with my questions. I really wanted to know how she came in contact with Alpha Roman. That was the most important part that I was dying to know.

"My pleasure. So, how did you come in contact with Alpha Roman?" I asked her, and her head immediately dropped in fear.

I knew that feeling.

"Ohh! You don't need to be scared. He is not here to harm you." I said to her in a reassuring manner.

She really needed to be strong enough for herself.

"Urmm... It was at the orphanage." She began.

Honestly, I could still smell the fear and tension that was in her eyes as she spoke.

"As I said earlier, you don't need to be scared about anyone or anything. You're an adult, and you can equally face your fears, as well. Meanwhile, what actually happened at the orphanage?" I asked her.

I knew how terrible that she might be feeling, but that wasn't going to stop me from knowing the truth about the whole drama.

"Alright, ma'am. It was at the orphanage that I met Alpha Roman. Since their routine was to sell most of us, the day that Alpha Roman came to the orphanage, we were lined up in pairs for him to choose from." She said, and I groaned in anger.

Why were some people so heartless?

"But, were there no government or military officials that could stop this atrocities?" I asked her, and she sighed.

"Most of them are even the ringleaders of these notorious gang. They bring buyers to the orphanage, and take their own share of the money." She said to me, and I sighed in anger.

Honestly, it was really unbelievable.
