The nightmare.
I looked at Sandra to be sure that she was still awake, and she smiled at me.
"They are just farmers who are snail hunting. We don't need to be scared." She said with a smile, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
I didn't want any problem at all. I was initially worried that it might be a replay from my dream. But on a second thought, I was confused on how Sandra found out about them already.
"That's great to know, but I have a question to ask you..." I replied her, and she smiled immediately.
"How I know them?" She asked me with a smile.
I was puzzled at how she found out very fast.
"Yes." I replied her.
She paused for a while before saying anything.
"Well, this is a rural community, and it is a norm that Luna's and young female wolves would always come out in the morning period to farm and hunt bush animals." Sandra explained, and I nodded my head.
These few moments that I've spent with Sandra, has really changed a lot about me already. She knew a lot of things that I didn't have any prior knowledge about.
"Wow. You really know a lot about this kingdom. But, why can't the Alpha's and young male wolves join?" I asked her with a smile.
I really wanted to discover more about our Kingdom, and also have more knowledge about werewolves.
"Well, it's a long story. History has it that the last time that an Alpha went with his entire family to the farm in the early hours of the morning, they came back and met their houses burnt to ashes." She narrated.
As she told me the stories, I listened with rapt attention. She was indeed a good story teller, and she could give information with so much details.
"Wow! That's so unbelievable. So, who burnt the houses?" I asked her in an inquisitive manner. I really wanted to have an idea about the whole story.
"Well, it was the rival pack. They made sure to destroy the whole village, and claimed territory. That is why till today, the Alpha doesn't leave his pack, unless he wants to go for a war." She explained.
In as much as I was thrilled by the news, I was still very dumbfounded that a lot of laws that I didn't know about existed in our Kingdom.
"Wow! Thank you very for the information. I'm so grateful that I crossed path with you." I said to her with a smile.
We both hugged each other, as we held hands together in prayer. We've been asking the moon goddess for help, and we had to take our prayer life, very seriously.
Indeed, the joy that came with freedom, was just undescribable.
Soon, after discussing for a long while, sleep came knocking on the door, and we both fell asleep and drifted into slumber.
*****
In no time, it was morning already, and we were woken by the crows of hen, signalling that it was morning. Well, it was a village, and it was very normal to experience such.
Probably, it could be called a farm settlement.
"It's morning already." I said, yawning.
"Another day for the commencement of a long journey, ahead." Sandra, replied.
I only smiled at her, as I made to enter the old bathroom, and take my bath.
"I pray that we find luck today." I said, as I walked inside the bathroom.
The only thing that bothered me the most, was how we were going to cross that village, and arrive at our unknown destination, safely.
"We must do everything fast, so that we can be able to leave here immediately." Sandra said to me, and I nodded immediately.
I didn't want them to close in on us, so I just had to hurry up.
Soon, we were at the reception. The goal was to inquire from the old lady, about the way that we could leave that village, safely. One thing that scared me, was being betrayed by that old lady.
"Hello ma'am, good morning." Sandra greeted the woman.
"Good morning, my daughters'. I hope you had a great night? It's quite obvious that you're about checking out." The old receptionist said with a smile.
The wrinkles on her face, were just very visible immediately she smiled. It wasn't a deniable fact that she must've been a very beautiful young lady, when she was in her youthful age.
"Oh yes, we're about to check out..." I replied her with a smile, while Sandra handed the room keys to her.
She collected the key, and jotted something down on a worn out paper.
"Safe journey..." She said with a smile.
"Thank you ma'am. Meanwhile, we have a little inquiry to make." Sandra said and looked at me, and I signalled to her to continue since she was on point already.
"Sure. Go ahead... What could that be?" The old lady stuttered.
We looked at each other, as we both tried to come up with the right words to reply her with.
"The thing is, we are from a far away land, and we do not have so much information about how to scale through to the other side..." I heard my voice saying these words.
To be honest, I hadn't even expected myself to say such words, as I was still very tensed with the way that everything was going.
"Mmm. Where are you heading to? Do you have anywhere in mind?" The old woman asked us.
Meanwhile, I didn't have anywhere in mind, so, my mind went blank at that very moment.
"Well, we just want to get across that big river, and cross to the other side of the world." Sandra replied her.
We stared at each other in silence, as we calmly anticipated a reply from the old lady.
"Are you ready to pay the price?" The old lady asked us, and we looked at each other.
What price was she even talking about?
"What is the price, ma?" Sandra asked her.
