Tragedy in the ocean.
The rainstorm was just so much, that we couldn't do anything.
"What are we going to do now?" I asked the canoe man.
"I can't really tell. Maybe, we have to swim across, or give up..." He replied with an unconcerned tone.
This was just the height of it all.
"What do you mean by that? How would you bring us to the middle of the ocean, and forsake us?" I asked in anger.
At this time, the water was already entering the canoe, and we knew that it was going to capsize soonest.
"I haven't forsaken you, yet. I leave you to the moon goddess..." Immediately he said that, he disappeared into the thin air, and we both started shouting in panic.
What just happened?
The scene looked very surreal, and unbelievable.
"Did he just vanish like that?" I asked Sandra in disbelief.
"Ohh moon goddess, come to our rescue! That's a spirit... We've been at the mercy of a water spirit, since." Sandra cried out.
To say that we were both scared, was an understatement to what we were both feeling at that moment.
"What are we going to do now?" I asked in fear.
"Wait for death to come. At least, it's going to be peaceful." Sandra said with a smile.
I looked round, and I couldn't see anything else. Aside the fact that it was raining, we couldn't also see what was far from us, as everywhere was already covered by cloud.
"What if I help you two?" The voice of the canoe man sounded. This time around, he was floating on the air, with two heads.
We both screamed in terror, but we had to comport ourselves, as we had no other choice, other than to.
"Please, help us." We both begged in tears.
We were met by a hysterical laughter or better still, an evil laughter.
"The help will come on just one condition..." He continued to mumble.
In all honesty, we were just willing to do anything that would help us get out of this terrible situation.
"What condition are you talking about, sir?" Sandra asked him. At this point, the both of us were already engulfed in fear.
How did we not notice that we've been with a spirit, all these while?
"Mmm..." The canoe man, muttered. "Are you sure that you are going to do it?" He asked with a sarcastic laughter.
We both stared at each other, with a question look. This has to be harder than we had ever planned.
"From frying pan to fire..." I scoffed with so much fear and annoyance. This wasn't what I had planned for.
The mysterious spirit man, looked at me with so much disgust.
"I can see that you're the stubborn one." He mumbled.
Sandra gave me a dangerous glare, before saying any other word.
"It seems like you don't want us to leave here alive. We're at the mercy of this spirit, and you're still trying to annoy him. What if he decides to sink us, or hold us captive in the marine world?" She whispered into my ears, with both fear and panic.
At that very moment, it dawned on me that I had made a terrible mistake. I had allowed my emotions to get hold of me, and it wasn't the right thing to do.
"You're the sensible one, and I would allow you to go..." The water spirit said, referring to Sandra.
What?
I froze at the moment that he said that. My mouth had put me in trouble, once again. What was I going to do now?
At this point, the wave was just so much already, and it was as if we were going to drown at any moment from now.
"No! Please, I apologize to you. Don't take me to the spirit world... Please..." I begged him in tears, and he only let out a mischievous laughter.
It was at that moment that the voice of the old woman started ringing in my head. I recalled everything that she had said, and realized that I had made a terrible mistake.
"In all you do, always know that spirits do not forgive..." Her old voice echoed through my ears, and I knew that it was destruction that awaited me.
What was I going to do now?
"Please, sir, forgive her." Sandra pleaded on my behalf.
"No!" He mumbled with an evil laughter. "Forgiveness is not in my dictionary..." He mumbled.
Immediately he said that, he turned into an old witch with seven heads. The both of us started shouting at the top of our voices, but we couldn't do anything at all.
"Please... Please... Don't harm me sir..." I cried out in fear.
"Shut up, you little girl!" He yelled at me.
We both looked at each other, as we held hands in uncertainty. At this point, I had already lost hope of leaving this place alive.
"Please, I promise not to provoke you again." I begged in fear.
It was just at this moment that it dawned on me that I was doomed.
"You cannot do anything to save yourself from my claws." The spirit man muttered to me.
At this point, I was already scared and terrified. I wondered what life in the spirit world would look like for me.
"Please sir, have mercy. We're just orphans, who are on a mission to regain freedom. We apologize for any misdeed, please." Sandra begged on my behalf.
Just as she begged him, the whole storm ceased, and the ocean became calm. Deep down inside my mind, I felt like he had forgiven me, and was now willing to let me go.
"I'll only forgive you and allow you to leave this river alive, on one condition..." He began.
Immediately I heard that, I was filled with happiness that he must've had a sudden change of mind.
"Thank you, sir." I greeted in appreciation.
"What are the terms and conditions, sir?" Sandra asked him.
We looked at each other, while praying that it won't be another problem.
"You'll be my wife for seven years, before I release you." The spirit man announced.
