The investigation

We pulled up to my old apartment, it  felt like a life time ago that I lived here. 

"Did you tell them you were coming?"

"No,  I wanted to surprise them. "

"That you will. "

"Why do you look sad,  my love?"

"Just so much has changed.  I thought I would be living here forever…..I know it sounds stupid. "

I just laugh it off.

"Come on,  let's go inside and surprise them."

We walked up the stairs and I go to open the door.  When I open it there are two uniformed police officers in the living room questioning Alice. 

"What's going on,  Alice?"

She rolled her eyes. 

"Your dad called the police because a werewolf kidnapped you!"

"What, that's ridiculous!"

"Yeah apparently when you left that day from your dad's he called the cops and said you were kidnapped. "

I turned to face the cops with Wesley next to me holding my hand still.

"Mam, if you don't mind we have a few questions for you to get this straightened out?"  Said one of the cops.

We all sat down and he flipped out his notebook.

"So your fathers says a man came and beat you and your fiancee up and kidnapped you."

I cringed at the word fiancee and I could hear Wesley growl too.

I took a deep breath.

"First of all he is NOT my fiancee.  That Mitch beat me up and left me for dead.   If it wasn't for Wesley……(I took a deep breath).....I would be dead right now."

"Sorry mam but there is no report of him beating you."

I huffed in frustration.   Wesley let go of my hand and pulled pictures out of his jacket pocket.

"These were taken after our doctor's took care of her!  We took them in case they were needed."

He looked at me with sorrow in his eyes.

"I never thought I would need to use them…..I guess I was hoping. "

I glanced at them, as I did my brain flashed pictures remembering the day like yesterday.   So much pain the anxiety raising in my chest.

Wesley reached over and grabbed my hand.  Instantly I felt safe and calm.

"Are these are pictures to keep?"

"Yes, I made copies if needed."

"Okay, we will be in touch.  Where will you being staying Sydney?"

My head snapped up at the mentioning of my name.

"I'll be staying with Wesley."

Wesley pulled out a card and handed it to the cop.  

"This has my phone number and address but please call first."

They gave him a strange look.  Then Wesley leaned forward.

"Werewolves tend to be jumping when someone comes on pack territory uninvited."

They eyes got big at his statement.

They quickly stood up and headed to the door.

We followed them to the door.  They handed me a card. 

"If you think of anything else please call us Sydney."

"Thank you."

We closed the door and Wesley pulled me to his chest and just took deep breaths and I calmed down.

I looked up into his eyes.  And he kissed my forehead.   

"Let's go pack your room."

I knodded my head and we walked to my old room.

I sighed. 

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just realized I really don't need much.  Just clothes and this jewelry box."

I went over and picked up the jewelry box and walked over to Wesley. 

"This was my mother's.   Its the only thing I have of hers."

"Its beautiful, Syd."

"This is my favorite though."

I lifted the jewelry box and pulled out a necklace.  Silver necklace with a heart.  The heart opened and it was a wolf.

"That's beautiful Syd…..did you're mom…."

"She loved everyone….werewolves and all."

"Then why is your dad?"

"So angry?"

"Yes"

"He didn't care for you guys at all when you first came out.  Then when mom died…...it was unbearable…...this was her way of keeping her secret."

"Sydney, how much do you know about your mom?"

"Unfortunately not much she didn't talk about her past much and now its too late."

"I think i have enough here.  We should stop by my father's before we leave."

"Are you sure, Syd?"

"Yes, I need him to know im done with him and his bossing me around."

We said our goodbyes to Alice and Rich.  

"Feel free to rent my room out, its time you guys made another friend."

We all hugged each other tightly.


Then Wesley and I left and headed to my dad's. 

As we got closer my stomach twisted in Knotts.  

Then I heard a voice.

"Stop turn back.  Don't let him catch you, my dove!"

I tried to shake the voice away almost crying.

"My dove, its time to meet your real family.  Go back with him….don't go near your father!  He will kill you!"

"Stop!"

Wesley slammed on the brakes. 

"What's wrong?"

"Take me home Wesley…...I can't go near him.  He knows now!"

"Knows what?"

"That I'm in love with a werewolf!"

Wesley flipped around and headed home.   He grabbed my hand and as we got closer, my heart rate steadied.

We got out of the car and he ran to my side.

"I'm okay really."

"Syd, how did you know?"

"You're going to think I'm crazy but I heard my mom's voice.  She told me I needed to leave and that my father would kill me!"

He looked at me deeply and said "I believe you and I won't let anyone hurt you ever!"

"You are mine, love.  You belong to this pack and we protect each other."

"I'm not a werewolf, Wes."

"No, but you are my MATE!"

He held me in his arms.  Then guided me upstairs to our room.  I sat my mom's jewelry box down on his dresser.  Then headed for the bed. 

I plopped down on the bed.  Ready to just pass out.  Wesley kissed my forehead. 

"I'll be back, love."

"Okay"

He left the room and I started to drift off.

"Sydney"

I groaned. 

"Sydney, it's time to open your eyes…..it's time to know who you are!"

I opened my eyes.  There was this spirit, blue and shiny floating above me.

"Mom?  It can't be…..you died?"

"It's a lot to take in.  But I am alive!  You are not all human.  You are part fae like me."

"Wait, I'm a fae??  Well part.  What does that mean?  Where are you?"

"I will answer everything but you need to come here to me.  Bring the necklace….it will guide you to me!"

I stood up.  And walked over and picked the necklace up.  It started glowing blue.  

"It wasn't doing it before…."

"I activated when I knew you left with it."

I got brighter then all of a sudden it zapped.   Knocking me to the ground.  She disappeared then my eyes closed.
