Preparing for War

Grayson pov

20 minutes later they all came back, some struggling behind but they arrived. I looked at everyone as they were still gathering around.

I looked at Wesley who was just as disappointed as I was.

My voice was loud as I got everyone's attention.

"I have never seen men be so disrespectful, growing up when I was told be there in 20 minutes I was never there in 20 minutes and I never dragged my feet to get there."

I sighed as I looked at this horrible group of men.

"You get here on time and be ready, or early. You do not drag your feet all mad that we have to train. If you want to not train then leave, we don't want to train someone who doesn't want to learn."

The men all looked down as I shook my head.

"Wesley and I will be training you as a group, when we see where your strengths are and what we need to work on then we will split up into two groups for training. Be prepared to be here early, be fed and ready to train for most of the day."

I started working with the men while Wesley walked around seeing which ones needed the most work and which ones could move on with him to train faster to be prepared for the war. We trained all morning long pushing there limits as far as I could.

"Lunch time, everyone fuel up and drink plenty of liquids we will be back here in an hour to split you into groups next."

The men hurried away to get food and you could tell we pushed them hard. It was needed to get them where we needed them to be.

"Wesley, do you know who you need?"

"Yes, unfortunately there isn't too many ready to be pushed to the next level Lycan. These human forms have never been trained before. I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did."

"Do you think they will be able to learn any of this or are we wasting our time here?"

"Honestly some might be able to try and understand, those are the ones I'm taking. Just not sure if the rest of the group is going to make it or if they just don't want to really do it."

"Am I going to have these problems in all the packs?"

"Not sure Lycan, all I can tell you is of my pack. My pack has been trained and won't have to work about this!"

He pointed to the field training where the men were at.

"Come let's get lunch so we can push these men again."

We headed back to the packhouse and grabbed a quick lunch. We both looked at eachother as we were eating. We stood up and headed up the stairs to check on our mates before we headed back to the training ground.

I reached for the door to knock right as Annabelle opened the door.

"Good afternoon Lycan."

She backed up to make room for me to come in. I walked over to my mate who was sitting on the bed watching a movie, propped up on the bed.

I looked at Sydney and smiled brightly. She was looking better.

"How are you feeling princess?"

"I am feeling better, my dear. Are you done for the day?"

I put my head down. Her smile faded.

"I am sorry my dear, we were just taking a lunch break to make sure we had strength."

"Can I ask ......a favor?" She looked up at me with her beautiful blue eyes.

"Yes." I responded cautiously.

"I want to watch, not participate but I would like to see how you train the men."

I growled at the thought of her getting her, I couldn't take it.

"Please, I will stay far away and Annabelle will stay by my side the whole time."

I looked to Annabelle who looked to the floor when I did. I couldn't keep her trapped in this room as much as I wanted to protector from everything I needed to trust Annabelle and Wesley to protect her as well.

"I want you far away from the training, you can watch but if anything happens you and Annabelle are to leave right away do you understand?"

"Oh my gosh, thank you thank you thank you!"

She wrapped her arms around me and held on tight. Annabelle and Wesley walked outside while we held each other. She looked into my eyes as I looked into hers as well.

I pulled her to my chest as I kissed her forehead, careful to not hit her stomach in any way.

She looked up, and smiled.

"I should go change so we aren't late."

I kissed her head one more time before she pulls away.

I walk outside to Annabelle and Wesley.

"Wesley and I will be on the field, let Sydney take her time and we will see you down there."

"Yes Lycan."

She walked back inside as we headed back down the stairs and out the packhouse to the training field.

We waited on the side as we waited to see who listened this morning and arrived on time. They slowly started coming in with time to spare still, we watched as what men stayed together and what men had issues.

We headed to the front so they could see we were here, Wesley stood more to the side as he was looking at the men inspecting there movement and conversations.

"Welcome back, I hope you all had a good lunch. We will start our training again but before we do.......Wesley here will be picking the ones to train separately with him."

I looked over to Wesley to speak.

"I will have Lycan begin training if I pick you then you will be told to head over to the field over there. You will all continue this training until I have picked everyone once done Lycan will answer for those chosen to now leave the field."

"So once again stay in your human form, control the wolf from coming out."

I looked behind me as I felt Sydney near by, she stayed far away like she promised with Annabelle. I smiled at her and bowed my head before returning my attention back to the men in front of me.

"Get in position, prepare to be attacked. Turn to face your partner. Defend your life, to the death!"

"Ready, Begin!" Shouted Wesley.

I walked around the field as did Wesley, seeing how weak these mens really are with no training. I felt that if we were attacked now, if we couldn't shift we would be in true trouble.

As I was walking through the field, a wolf came running over and fell at my feet.

"Lycan, they made it to the border......they are here!"

I growled as I looked around at these wolves, not one making a move just stood dumbfounded.

"Have they crossed the border or are they looking to see our security?"

"I......I really don't know sir."

"Everyone stay here, Wesley continue training while I check it out."

I looked behind me to see Sydney had stood up and had gotten up with Annabelle.

She had made her way to me with worried eyes.

"Please go to our room with Annabelle. I will be back shortly and fill you in."

"Okay I will but please be safe."

I gave her a hug as she took Annabelle hand and headed back to the packhouse. I could feel her fear and concern for me and this pack.

I headed to the border where the wolf said they were at but didn't cross yet. I stayed far enough away they couldn't see me but close enough that my Lycan could hear what they were saying.

"I can see the tracker leads here, it is weak from being in her for so long but its here close by." One hunter said.

"My neice will pay for trying to escape! Make camp and tomorrow we will kill some wolves to get to her, then if we have to we will Kill her too!" What looked like the head hunter.

So we will have to prepare for them to attack by first light.

I headed back to the training field. Wesley saw me and walked over to me.

"It's the hunters for sure, they are making camp. Intending to attack at day break. We need to be ready for them. We need to have a second patrol just in case to warn us and we will be up before they are to get in positions to counter there attack."

Alpha Trevor walked over with a worried expression.

"It's time isn't it?"

"Yes Alpha, they are at the border and will be attacking in the morning. So we will be up at midnight to make everyone in there spots. It is time!"

We walked to the group of wolves and let them know to leave and get sleep.

"We will be meeting in the packhouse at midnight and make sure to stay quiet. We will assign your rolls then. Now go!"
