Chapter 35 His Birthday
It seems like I don't want to get up because the words of the Chairman's nephew are still not pressing on my brain, at least, less than a year was written in the memo I signed before. I admit I can't sleep well. It was only six o'clock in the morning and I could hear my other fellow teachers who were still waiting for the order to be issued at their home school.
Today is February 22, I have so many reasons why I should be productive, but at this moment, I felt downcast. After arguing with my brain and body I was proud to be the winner. I decided to clean the house first and take a shower later so that I would have all the dirt later. I just left the door ajar so they knew I was awake, I started sweeping the ceiling to get rid of the squeaks there.
I carefully removed the bedroom I had made but left the bed piled on the side. I also removed the curtains and placed them on the table where the others lent me. From the side of the closet I took there the large suitcase, carefully placed the clothes and some of those displayed in my closet. I just left Zeke's electric fan, I taught grandma how to use it.
Also my thick blanket and I will leave it because I have a lot of extras there. After I had arranged everything I decided to take a bath, I just wore simple highwaisted pants and a gray fitted shirt. I decided to go out and greet the earlier noise that was enveloping this place.
"Very fresh," Khaye began, staring at me.
"Since his Engineer will be seen," Clarrise whispered as grandma whispered.
I sat on a large rock which faced them, they were now sitting on bamboo chairs and behind them was cooking lunch.
"Are you going home right away ija? I would like to send you some snacks so that you can take something home with them, alas, especially to your man who loves sticky," grandma said smiling and I also smiled.
"Even if I'm still here until nightfall," I replied simply to his delight.
Somehow, I can take something home with them, especially one, I don't know if she has already told me about Zeke sleeping position because she also knows Zeke's favorite snack.
"How's that? Will you be with anyone here when we're gone?" I asked the old man who still couldn't take her smile away from me.
"Of course. There are a lot of people here in the paddy field every noon, in case I need help, eh, I have a lot to approach so you don't have to worry," she said with a smile.
I just nodded, accompanied them to lunch because that was my last day here, as long as it was clear I wanted to stay here. It's nice to live away from the city, from noise and pollution. Since there was no class there were only two, we were all busy with the coconuts and sugar that Clarrise was preparing. I rarely see mom cook a meal so it looks like I still need to watch what they do so I can learn as well. I entered the house again to prepare the things I would take home, I had to take another bath so that I wouldn't feel the heat when I came home later.
"Annika? The driver will pick you up at four o'clock later," Khaye said loudlyI hurried out of the house.
"Hey, it's almost four o'clock," I wondered glancing at my watch.
"So, just now he signaled again, he sent it at twelve o'clock. Come on, let's take care of your belongings," she said so I took out a suitcase and a big bagpack.
"How fast are you? I thought you could come home later, or he, here, it can't be ruined because it's cooked well," said grandma as she slowly put the banana leaves in my bag where it was.
With only thirty minutes left, we hurried and decided not to take grandma with us, I just gave her a big hug and then left the place where I had lived for almost a year. Khaye and Clarrise were the only ones with me until we got to town, when I hit driver who was smiling and waving at us, the two of them tapped me.
"How's that? It's only up to here," Clarrise said smiling as I smiled.
"I gave you my number, you can call me anytime," was my simple answer to Khaye.
"All right, let's go. I know someone is waiting for you." I know who he is referring to.
I just shook my head and then turned my back on them, Manong just supported me by putting things in the back of the car. The ride was almost quiet, I had the bag next to where the food was and the cell phone that I hadn't used for almost a year because there was no signal. When we were on the wide road I turned that on and turned down the volume due to a series of notifications coming out.
Too many message, I felt like I'm an important person not until those messages are came from NDRRMC, NTC ... What the hell!
My sleep was interrupted because I was not comfortable, because the flight was continuous and we arrived past eleven o'clock in the evening. I was supposed to be picked up at six o'clock but because there was a problem and it was done at four o'clock. When we got down in front of the gate, Manong waved and then left, I could see that the mansion had hardly changed, from where I was standing, some of the rooms were dead, it looked like different.
I was about to apply my finger to the iron when suddenly a loud horn blew behind me which I was facing. The light died there and out came who.
"Annika? You're just coming back?" Jairo asked, still confused.
"Obviously," I replied.
No word was said and I suddenly took my suitcase in hand and immediately put it in the car. You opened the door next to him so I entered. I'm not going to act anymore because I'm already drowsy.
The gate opened freely and Jairo was running just right. I don't know why Lana is afraid of him, of all the Azarcon, Jairo is often quiet but he's not hard to talk to.
"A lot of people are inside now, for sure they don't know you're coming, especially the one who's getting drunk," he said with a smile looking straight at the road.
"Yeah, they didn't know."
There were many cars and the light in the living room was still on, the large window was open so that Zeren and I could see each other, who suddenly widened his eyes and stood up in his chair. Jai offered, to carry the suitcase while the bag was still with me, even though I didn't have sa main door when Zeren immediately greeted me with a hug and a kiss.
"I missed you!" she said happily while squeezing my cheek.
"Why are you still awake?" I asked here because it was early to sleep.
It just shook then took my hand and went up. Instead of going straight to the living room I immediately went to the kitchen to unload the contents of my bag. There is too much food there and it looks like it will take another tomorrow before it runs out. My twin looked at me in surprise and soon helped to arrange the dishes.
"Uh... You gave him a gift? He loves it, eh," she asked simply, which made me sneer.
"Grandma sent it, the one with his name engraved on it, that's his," I replied when I finished putting it in a container.
After that, the people in the living room became quiet when I entered, uncle gave me a smile and I came here voluntarily.
"I fell asleep on the ride, that's why I couldn't text," I lead here causing it to laugh softly.
"And you really chased?" it says loudly that I smirked.
How come he is also participating?
"What do you mean?" I broke away from hugging it and pushed the top up.
"It's almost twelve o'clock, come up, greet him. You're the only gift he wants," he said then sat down and took the wine glass.
I couldn't help but swallow and narrowed my eyes and turned away from them. But before I could get out I hit the clock, just two minutes before twelve. I don't know why I spontaneously accelerated my walk, chasing two minutes to greet him, he's 29 years old now.
He will be missing from the February calendar. I knocked quickly and leaned my ear against his door.
"C'mon! Wake up! I'm here!" I shouted softly at its door.
It's already 11:59 pm. I know this birthday is important to him. I can't stand it anymore. I quickly opened its unlocked door so I could quickly enter. With my heart beating so fast, probably because of nervousness, I couldn't help but greet him.
"H-Happy birthday, Z-Zeke. I'm sorry if that—"
I couldn't finish what I was about to say because of a hot object that enveloped my body, its heat penetrated my skin and it was only then that I realized that it had no outer garment. I fell on its neck with a strange aroma.
"Thank you lord," he whispered in my ear.
He spontaneously walked away from me and kissed my cheek. I don't know if I should be amazed at his looks and his body. I quickly averted my eyes as I looked down at him.
The fvck! He's wearing a black boxer. Why is there a big rat shape there? Oh my god!
"Did you brief?" I asked quickly which he quickly nodded.
"It's fresher when there's no bri—" His eyes widened immediately and he quickly took the blanket on his bed and automatically covered it.
I don't know why I laughed at his appearance, he was like a child caught lying.
"You're beautiful," he said softly so I stopped. It smiled as it stared into my face.
