Chapter 51 04/4 4:44
"Go to sleep. I love you."
A loud rumor I heard in my brain. Chasing the breath I was wide awake and almost sat down, I just stared at a man bent over my side and looked asleep.
"Zeke?" I called anxiously but I immediately stopped in my supposed seat when it suddenly got up.
"U-Uncle," I failed to call then smiled at him. He stared at me and sat up.
He left his seat and then forced a smile. "Are you okay?" its a weak question that made me smile.
"Y-Yeah, my body just hurts." I rolled my eyes at a spacious room and uncle and I were the only people.
"Zeke, please? Has he seen the child yet?"
He averted his eyes from me and then took a bottle of water. "Are you going to name the child?" its question that didn't even answer my question.
"Zeke, he supposed to name the child. Hasn't he been here yet? Can I borrow your phone?" I asked again but this time he was silent.
Even though the body hurt I just forced myself to sit up straight and look at my finger. The engagement ring. I stopped staring when the door suddenly opened and Mara appeared there smiling at me hard and slightly looked at uncle who shook his head.
"Sir Matt is taking care of your baby, the child is healthy, so you have nothing to worry about," she said with a smile and something written on the paper he was carrying.
"Thanks. Is Zeke there too? Lucas? Has he arrived yet?" I asked him gently.
But instead of speaking, uncle immediately tapped Lucas and Lou on the shoulder and then left us in the room. Mara did the same, she came out of the room so there were only three of us left. Lucas laid Zeke's cell phone in front of me. The screen is cracked and almost impossible to use.
"Why is this? Where is he?"
This time, I felt nervous. Something is not right. Every time I look at Lucas I remember what happened before I finally gave birth. Doctors running, and he who quickly ran and hung up the phone.
"He received your message at 3:44, so he hurried to leave the site. He left me there. It's four o'clock when you come here to the hospital—"
"I didn't tell you to tell me what happened, I'm asking you where Zeke is? Is it hard to tell where he is? I don't care if he goes to a meeting, just tell me where he is!" I was annoyed to shout because I had been asking questions before but no one was answering my questions.
"After I delivered you earlier, I was also shocked that Zeke came," Lucas continued, so I was encouraged.
But no. Why are they like this when they look at me? Why isn't Zeke there?
"If he was upset at four o'clock, why didn't I go with him?" To my surprise and this time Lou had laid down a white rose but it was already covered in dirt and red marks.
"I found that in Zeke's car. He'll probably give it to—"
"W-Where's Zeke?" I asked incredulously.
Blood. It's blood. I know there is blood in this white flower. My chest suddenly throbbed as the two averted their eyes.
"You answer!"
"C-Calm down Niks, you'll see him too," Lou whispered standing up then nodded Lucas.
I no longer knew what was going on. Lucas just took the wheelchair. I am supported by Lou in a wheelchair and a nurse who had just entered also supported me. I don't know why I'm nervous. All I knew was that I was slowly pushing my seat as I walked down the long hallway where uncle and Sevein and I were still looking at each other.
As time went on my heartbeat got stronger, I no longer felt physical pain, but fear. When we turned again, I saw mama and Keus. Mama was just an idiot staring at the floor while Keus was talking to his fellow doctors.
"L-Lucas? W-What's going on? M-Ma?" I called Zeke's mother who immediately turned to me.
Her swollen eyes widened, her face was lifeless and she couldn't even smile at me. The tears welled up, but before I could get past Zeke's mother, her tears finally fell. When the wheelchair stopped, a door opened for me, the window closed so that the person inside could usually be seen here.
Keus and I caught sight of the fact that they were just as lethargic. It sighed before opening a door. Lucas gently pushed the wheelchair, the cold, white room opened up to me, almost without everything, except for a bed and turned off the engines. I deliberately stopped at the opposite bed where a human figure covered you with a clean, white blanket. My forehead furrowed and then I stared even harder at something in front of us. The drum grew louder in my chest and without a word touched the hand that was dangling.
"He rushed here at four o'clock. He received your message so he left the site immediately. He could not answer your calls because he was on the road. The cctv showed that he was driving fast. They met a big truck in intersection. Zeke's car stopped immediately, that's all, the ten wheeler truck hit him. He was rushed here earlier. 4:44 pm it was confirmed that your husband's body can no longer handle it."
It was as if I were being drenched in cold water because of what Lucas had said. My body would almost tremble and I could see the veins in my hand slowly shrinking. I don't even know how that happened and can't believe what happened.
"H-He said he'll come back to me, he'll go home. He'll watch over me every day when I give birth," I said weakly as the blanket slowly came down from his body.
As the blanket came down, the tears of pain and fear disappeared. I want to be weakened by what I see. I could hardly recognize his appearance and the blood on his face was still almost fresh.
But that's just the puzzlement of what happened next.
Can I die now?
