Chapter 44 Misunderstanding
A few weeks ago it started when Zeke didn't come home. We fight more often, just simple things become a big deal, I don't know how to handle this anymore. I just silently watched him as he adjusted his own collar, I want to help him, but he always said he could. I immediately got up when he grabbed his bag that he often carried.
"Are you coming home later?" I asked but it turned away.
"I'm not sure. I might not be able to go home for three days," he replied making me sigh.
"All right. Call me tonight."
"I'll be busy. Maybe I'll just text you," he replied then left me alone in the room.
He didn't kiss me in my forehead like he usually do. He never say goodbye. It lets me know. At any rate, he would prefer to go home even after midnight. He suddenly changed at instant. In a short period.
Because maybe that's in the blueprint I accidentally discarded. I know that's important to him. But I didn't know it would reach this far. Even though I couldn't rest, I felt like I really didn't want to.
I got up immediately and ran to the bathroom, quickly bowing my head and vomiting several times. I could barely vomit. This is how I felt then that I thought I would never come back. My soul was almost separated, I could just throw up what I wanted to take out, my head was a little aching. Feeling weak, I tried to clean myself. I squeezed the medicine on my stomach again to make me feel better. I was about to go to bed when I heard the voice below.
"Annika? I'm going in," it opened so I did nothing but go out. Feeling weak, I faced it and frowned slightly when I saw it.
"Hey! What happened to you?"
"I don't know Ghan, I just vomit a lot, the ones I eat are clean," I replied while my stomach was still rumbling.
"Did the Engineer already know that?" I shook.
He doesn't know it yet and I have no intention of saying it because it is simply a pain.
"Why don't you tell? It's like he's going with you to see the doctor. Maybe it's not a pain?" it whispered in the last part.
"What do you mean?"
"Wait for me here and I'll give you what can cure you," she said standing up.
I only stayed on the stairs because my stomach pain was also slowly disappearing. After a few minutes, Meghan finally arrived, even more embarrassing because she brought the dish again. I could do nothing but accept that thing. The whole afternoon passed without me even receiving a message from Zeke or a call. I feel like I'm missing out so much, if then my writing day was full, now it isn't. Very different from what I'm used to.
I even overcame a withered leaf that hadn't even been exposed to sunlight or watered. Every time my heart beat faster, I became even more scared and nervous because of what Meghan gave me and what she said. I didn't drink coffee first and as much as possible just lay in bed. All afternoon staring atthree things I will now only use. I'm not ready to use that yet especially since I'm not comfortable. I would rather use that when Zeke is here and she will see the result.
I decided to call Lou and Kevin who are Zeke's co-workers but they are both not answering, maybe they are really busy, I don't doubt Zeke, but won't he be able to text me even for a moment or just call me five minutes? It's time for me to go to bed but he's still gone, he really has no intention of going home. I tried to call him but no Maru answered.
To Zeke:
Sleep early okay? I'm going to sleep now. Good night. I miss you. I love you.
To: Maru:
I'm sorry, If I have something wrong did to you, I'm really sorry. Please do remember, I love you.
I let out a loud sigh before deciding to go to sleep. The next day I felt pretty good, I hadn't eaten well for a few days and I was just sleeping. I decided to clean the whole house and list the things and food we needed. Because the market here is just a walking distance away, I just walked it. Almost everyone in the village is leaving because today is family day, I just found out that every weekend they get together to take a walk or visit other relatives. There's even a point that I'm the only one in the whole place because sometimes Zeke doesn't come home.
I only cooked frozen food because I couldn't finish it either, I made the most of my good feeling so that I could move properly. The night came and I just planned to check my cell phone, I was suddenly nervous when I saw a message from him, so I immediately opened it with a wide smile.
Zeke:
Good night.
I forced a smile when I read that. It was almost two o'clock in the morning when he sent me that message and nothing else, mostly from my siblings and Mara and Pat who kept in touch with me. I just didn't play it and understand what was being done.
After taking care of the housework I went straight to the other room, where I was writing. I plan to revise the description I made so that tomorrow or the day after I can write the first chapter. Depends on my mood. It took me almost thirty minutes to adjust the description I needed for the next novel, I didn't want to strain my brain so it was only eleven o'clock at night that I would try to sleep.
I turned off all the lights in the house except outside the house and in the bedroom, I would have gone to bed when my eyes hit the three things I want to use, there is also a point in what Meghan tells me, I want try it first before doing what he says with Zeke.
["Use that first, try the three, when all the results are the same, you know. Then just tell the Engineer so he can accompany you to the hospital."]
I feel strong. But I just try to ignore it because we still have a problem. I stared intently at the three pregnancy tests before deciding to hide them where he couldn't see.
