Chapter 37 Meeting a family
"You're so stupid!" I shouted softly as I pointed my own reflection into my bedroom.
Last night I was still restless especially when I said those things to Zeke. I have no regrets, but Lucas! They heard it, they were in the back then and when the light came on Fred tempted us there. Damn!
I dropped my body on the bed, the speed of my breath coinciding with the beating of my heart. What the hell is going on me? Did Lucas say this to the people in the mansion? To uncle? How about Aunt Ezra and Aunt Matt?
I blew out all the bad air and then sat down again, calmed myself down and looked in the mirror again. I looked so bad, my chest was scratched from the thin shirt because I used to take off my underwear when I went to sleep.
Mr. Zenos:
Uncle? I'm going to your office today. It's just important.
I know that he is in the company now, especially this Friday, their meetings that are still late into the night. I immediately took care of myself and never opened the cell phone again, I just wore black jogging pants and white long sleeve turtleneck. I brought only my cell phone and immediately commuted.
I'll go ahead of them so that uncle doesn't say anything bad to me, so that he doesn't think I'm keeping a secret. Until now I still haven't received any call or message from Zeke, good thing because he won't bother me now. The ride took an hour due to heavy traffic, I even had to walk to get there.
"Ma'am Veroni—"
"Annika," I corrected and forced a smile at the guard.
"I'm sorry Ma'am, come in," she said calmly and I nodded.
Almost everyone who greets me just looks at me, I don't care if it gets to my uncle, as long as I can say what I want to say right away.
When I went up to the 20th floor, the woman I knew was the head of finance management. "Ma'am Nikasha, is it Sir?" its question that I asked. "He's still in the meeting, but it looks like it's over. Do you want something to eat—"
"No. Thank you," I replied then she turned his back and took the elevator again.
When I got to the floor where almost only the meeting room could be seen, I knew they were at the far end so I sat down first in the empty seat next to that door. I can't see what's inside the conference room because it's covered, normally those without a cover are the ones without users. At ten o'clock in the morning, my stomach was talking because I didn't even drink coffee. After a while I got up because the door had already opened, it was a sign that their meeting was over. The directors who had stopped walking came out first to catch a glimpse of me.
"G-Goodmorning Madame," she greeted quickly bowing a little.
"Morning," I replied and smiled wryly.
Others are the same so I just smile. I'm not their boss, why are they like that when they treat me like that? When I bowed again, it was uncle and Zeren who opened up to me, I could see in their eyes the surprise that the message I had sent was obviously still unread.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Zeren asked.
I was just standing in front of them and when the elevator rang I came a little closer to my uncle. I couldn't help but pinch my thigh I knew they noticed.
"Are you at fault?" he asked then walked slowly causing me to be behind them.
"Yeah? Um... I don't know," I said softly.
Zeren took my trembling hand to calm it down. Uncle and I were in the back walking slowly.
"Let me see. Will that make me angry?" its serious question that traces in the voice the strictness.
I want to back off but they will notice that I am making an excuse for them to run away. I took a deep breath and then decided to say that. "I already answered Zeke," I boldly promised that I almost lost my soul.
He just kept on walking down the long hallway as if there was no end. They still have no idea what I'm saying.
"What do you mean?"
"We're in a relationship now," I said weakly as we stopped walking at the same time causing my nervousness to rumble.
It slowly faced Zeren and me, eyes narrowing and head tilted. I couldn't resist his gaze so I immediately avoided him. "Well, congrats," he said smiling and then slowly looked at my stomach.
"No! There's no baby here," I covered my stomach as they both laughed.
"I'll just offer you to eat Annika, I didn't think of that thing," he said shakily then mediated between the two of us.
I didn't know what was running through my uncle's mind, I was expecting that he would be dropping a multiple questions about us. We quietly arrived at uncle's office, I sat down immediately because I felt my knees were shaking earlier. Zeren was just silent as he stared at me and sometimes even smiled.
"Come home with me, you can call your boyfriend if he wants you to introduce as his girlfriend infront of his parents," uncle teased while signing something.
"Exactly. You have to be formal even if you already know—"
"Fine!" shocked I said they laughed.
Fortunately, I don't have a twin. I don't know what I'm going to do when it's here. I dialed Zeke's number, just a few seconds later he answered it immediately.
"Zek—"
[Love!]
My chest throbbed quickly as it spontaneously resounded throughout the room, I could clearly see uncle stopping my brother's signing and swallowing, I barely sat up properly and then breathed loosely.
"Zeke, what time are you vacant?" Some time later I heard laughter coming from the other line, Lucas and Keus laughing.
Where is he?
[I'm at the mansion, I'd like to talk to your uncle in case he's not here. I'll just wait for him—]
"Why? I mean, what do you say?"
[That guy's talk, do you have an appointment? What time are you out? I'll pick you up.]
"Don't. I'll go there too, I'll go down—"
[Just wait.]
"What ?!" I said annoyed because time almost stopped in this room because they had been staring at me for a while.
[I love you. Take care of our child tap—]
I quickly put down my cell phone and then stood up. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm not used to it. Zeren just nodded while uncle smiled sweetly then closed the folder.
"We have to go, Zeren. Your brother is going to explode," teased uncle as my body heated up.
"Don't have coffee first, you'll be even more nervous. You have to be professional," Zeren added to my annoyance.
I just clung to my uncle, ignoring those who greeted me. Until sa we were in the car I was silent, I had a strong feeling that this was also Zeke's plan. I was nervous because Aunt Ezra was the one I would face. There's something uncle says but I can't understand, I'm just busy chewing bread that can't be consumed. When we finally got down there were cars I didn't want to see.
"Here we go Ma'am," uncle teased.
I left uncle's car, he was knocking on the main door which I didn't like, I quickly clung to the hem of his arm that Veron often does. Even before we set foot inside, a resounding wink greeted us from Lucas.
"Hi Annika, hi uncle," he said softly then waved.
"Good mood huh," uncle smiled at him.
I didn't look at anyone I met, until we got to the living room I was still holding uncle's skirt.
"What's wrong with that one? ?" Uncle Ponce asked.
"In love."
W-What the hell!
I immediately looked at uncle who secretly winked at me, I could clearly see in the reflection in his eyes the arrival of others, including Zeke next to Sevein. Why are they complete? Seriously?!
"What is it that my son has something important to say? How important is it to you?" introduction by aunt who sat across from us. At that moment I just looked at them, the couple Roux and Sevein were in the other seat, my eyes searched for Zeke and it was only then that I felt the sinking of the seat next to me.
"Sshh, Dad and older brother already know. I'm nervous about Mommy," he whispered to me so I was even more nervous.
Sevein laughed while Uncle Matt secretly winked.
"Hey, what's going on? Is there a problem?" asked Aunt Nieva who was sitting next to Lucas.
"Don't worry Mom, just think we're in the movie, it's over with that big revelation, then a lot of crying. Trust me Mom," Lucas whispered who was close to us.
"Why don't you tell me? I have a meeting with my client," Sevein began causing me to hear Zeke's sigh.
This is it! I just wanted to back off because it seemed more annoying what Zeke was going to say, I noticed the trembling of her hand and sweating.
"Because there are things in the world that we need to understand even if it's chaotic. And in that chaotic part, the important thing is love," he said directly while staring at his mother.
The laughter of Sevein and his father as well as Lucas was so suppressed that I could just cover my face. What is he talking about? The hell?! What is it, quote?
"Okay? What do you mean, kid?"
"Annika and I, are meant to be, Mom."
"What the hell!" I whispered and I could do nothing but squeeze my head behind uncle to hide.
Embarrassing! I just want to die.
"W-Wait, I can't understand—"
"They're getting married," uncle said softly but that was enough for me to hear the excitement of the other people in the mansion. Is this the right decision I'm referring to?
"Really? Oh my god! Does that mean I'm going to have grandchildren?" said Aunt Ezra loudly.
"We're just in a relationship but we don't have any plan with that," I said quickly as my aunt nodded.
Everything is quiet. When I rolled my eyes my uncles were smiling while Aunt Cecil was staring at me. I know, not everything is really convincing. I felt its big palm crawl up my back. Fortunately, we were close so no one noticed.
"Are you sure?" Kierra groaned as she bit the apple. "I mean, are you sure Zeke with Annika? That's final?" its joint made Zeke laugh.
"W-Well, I hope it's last Zeke. I don't want to know—"
"There's no such thing as Mom. Even if you betray me," Zeke replied.
It looks like in that conversation they were referring about Zeke's past relationship. As far as I know, it was Fionah herself who admitted to Aunt Ezra that their relationship was not really real. They're just using each other.
As time went on, Aunt Ez's face became more and more soothing to me. She drank coffee and then whispered something to her husband. The towel was still in her hair which was obviously just after bathing. Auntie got up and looked like she was going to go upstairs again. But before she could get out of the living room completely, her voice rang out.
"Well done Zeke. You chose the right wife for you."
