Chapter thirteen

Lucas's pov
Many thoughts ran through my head when I left my room. I'm really angry and sad at the same time. Why does Emma think so low of me? To the extent of thinking I can rape her. I'm a Virgin for goodness sake, I have never been intimate with anyone. She is even the first person I kissed, I know it's a CPR but I count it as a kiss since my lips were on hers. Why did I even go the that place to rescue her? The thing that was telling me to go was more like a force.

I was directed to that place by a voice in my head. Who is this Emma girl and how are we connected? How did we even get here? Could she be my mate? No, it's not possible. I don't even like her, I have no bit of likeness towards her. All I feel is anger and regret towards her.

"Lucas? Are you okay?"Eva asked me. "I'm just thinking about a lot of things. I'm kinda confused",I replied with a sigh. "Is it Emma? I'm sorry about what she said to you. Astrid has been the one poisoning her mind",Eva said. " Poisoning her mind? How? Look, she doesn't like me and I don't like her either",I shrugged." Astrid told her that you raped a minor in high school", she informed me. " I did what? That guy is really stupid. We didn't even attend the same school.

We don't even live in the same place so why will he say such thing about me to her?" I half yelled. " I think he wants her to hate you. Who is this guy to you, Lucas?" She raised a curious brow." He is the son of my father's enemy. He is also a future Alpha like myself. He knows I'm here to find my mate and he claims he is also here to find his",I explained. " Ohh, I can see why he goes around talking bad about you. You need to put him in check",she advised.

" I will, thank you",I gave her a smile. That bastard, Astrid I swear I will fight him when I see him tomorrow. "Are you hungry?" Eva asked and I nodded. "I will be prepare something for us to eat. Chris will be here soon",she said.

" Eva",I called her. " Do you know what mate is called?" I asked. "Two people meant to be together? ",She shrugged." Do you know that everyone has a mate?" I asked her again and she shook her head. I went close to her ,"Chris is your mate",I whispered and she gasped in shock. " Are you sure?" She asked. " Yes I do",I nodded. "Does he know?" She asked me again. "Yes he does", I nodded.

"Then why didn't he tell me?" She whined like a baby. " He was scared to tell you that's why I decided to tell you by myself",I smirked. " I really like him too, Lucas. He should have told me, I wouldn't have ended up with Noah",she said sadly.

" Listen, everything is sorted out now. When your man comes back, go talk to him. Tell him how you feel about him okay? You guys should be together, I love a perfect love story",I winked. " Thank you Lucas. You are the best",she smiled and i smiled at her back. " Please can you go check on Emma please?" Eva gave me her puppy eyes. " No, Eva. I don't want to go back in there",I said as I rolled my eyes. " Please just do it for me",she pouted , I couldn't resist.

I opened my door slowly and peeped, she was awake with her eyes wide open. "Lucas, hi",she said in a weak voice. "How are you?" I asked her and walked in. It's not that I care about her but I need to know how she is feeling because she is in my house and I don't want her to die here. "I don't feel too good", she muttered and broke down into tears. "Hey, don't cry. You are just getting better, crying will make your condition worse",I said and sat on the bed beside her. She drew in a sharp breath, I have never seen Emma this fragile and vulnerable.

"My mom, she has cancer and my sister said she has just few months to live. I'm not in good terms with her but I don't want her to die",she sobbed. I feel so sorry for her. I was surprised when she placed her head on my chest. I had no choice than to hug her. Her body was soft and warm against mine. It was now that I realized how tiny and small she is ,behind her hard exterior and queen bee behavior.

"Everything will be alright okay? You, your mom and everyone will be okay",I whispered soothingly into her ear. She didn't reply, she cried and cried till she fell asleep on my chest. I felt a flashlight on my face, I opened my eyes slowly to check what's happening. It was Eva taking a picture of Emma and I. "You guys look cute together",she squealed like a child.

I positioned her carefully on the bed. "There's nothing like together. Why did you even take a picture?" I frowned at Eva. "Because you both looked so peaceful, her sleeping on your chest and you closing your eyes. It was a beautiful sight",she smirked . "You are too childish",I said. " No, I'm not. I like you and Emma together",she pouted and I rolled my eyes. " There is nothing like that. Emma and I are enemies remember? We don't like each other besides she needed some comfort and I gave her.

Her mom was diagnosed with cancer and she has just few months to spend on Earth",I explained and Eva gasped. " Poor thing, she must be going through a lot right now. Please let her stay for the night",Eva pleaded. " I have no choice than to let her stay. Even though, we are not friends. I'm not heartless, I will sleep on the couch while you will sleep in Chris's room",I smirked, she blushed deeply. " You are making me shy",she whispered and I laughed. I really like Eva, I love spending time with her. She is the perfect mate for my beta.

"I'm home,fam!" Chris said as he opened the front door. Finally, I didn't even hear any car sounds. I guess Eva and I were so engrossed in our conversation. "Chris!!! You are back!" Eva yelled and ran towards him. She gave him a hug while Chris picked her up. Her legs were wrapped around his waist. I was surprised when she attacked him with a kiss.
