Chapter twenty seven

Emma's pov
He didn't answer me immediately, why is he so nervous? I just wanted to know who he is. "Lucas, why are you not saying anything?",I asked him. He sighed and stood up from the couch he sat beside me. Why is he acting like he wants to drop a bad news?

"I'm a Prince",he muttered and i raised a curious brow.

"A prince? That's nice, where are you from?" I asked.

" Can you stop please? We will talk about that later",he cut me off and I frowned.

"What are you hiding? You know you can talk to me. You are a prince so where are you from?" I asked again and he frowned.

" Emma please, I'm from around so let it be",he snapped and I raised my hand in surrender even though my mind is full with a lot of thoughts. Why is he hiding his identity? What did Astrid say to him that made him fight him in the cafeteria? Why did astrid visit my mother? What relationship do they have?

"Emma, am sorry for snapping at you. Alot has been going on and it's really making me angry",he apologised and I sighed. A lot has indeed been going on and I know there's something wrong somewhere. There's something about Lucas and this Astrid guy.

"I'm not comfortable with all these. You need to talk to me. Everyone has been acting weird around me. What are you hiding? Who is Astrid to you? Why is Astrid bent on been my friend? Why did he even visit my mother?" I ranted feeling frustrated.

" Astrid visited your mother? When?" Lucas raised a curious brow. " Yesterday, I think",I shrugged and he gasped. " You need to go see your mother. How did he even know her?"he asked.

" I have no idea, Lucas. I will go visit my mom but don't even try to change the topic. Talk to me",I whined and he sighed. " I will tell you everything but not now. You are not ready to know anything now, trust me. Just stay away from Astrid and if he trys anything funny with you. Call me",he said.

" I'm ready, just tell me already",I said with a groan. "No Emma. Now you have to go visit your mother",he said. " Okay then but my car is still in school",I muttered." You can take my car and I will go pick yours later",he said and I sighed." Thank you",I muttered and walked out of his room.

Eva and Chris were nowhere to be found so I just left the house. Driving Lucas's car is actually nice, it's a sport car and it makes me feel powerful. I parked the car, locked it and walked into the hospital. "Good afternoon. I'm here to see my mother, Martha",I said to the nurse at the reception.

" What's her ward?" The nurse asked. " Ward ninety eight",I replied and she gasped. "I'm sorry, you can't see her",the nurse said. " Why can't I see my mother?" I asked. " Your mother is in coma. You can see the doctor instead",she said and I was shocked.

" What? Coma? When? How? Why didn't you call anyone to inform us?" I yelled at her. " We tried a number but it wasn't reachable",she said. Oh my goodness, coma? How did it happen? I still came here yesterday and she talked to me.

"I need to see your doctor now",I said. "Hold on, I will have to call her and inform her",she replied. My heart was racing and I was nervous. " As you go down the hall, you will see the doctor's office on your right",she described and I nodded.

My legs were shaky as I walked down the hall." Come in",the doctor said when I knocked on the door. "Good afternoon Ma'am",the doctor said with a smile on her face as I walked in.

"I heard my mom is in coma. What happened to her? I was here yesterday and we talked. She was still okay",I asked and the doctor sighed.

" We are confused as well as you are, ma'am. We placed her on medications and she was on a stable condition not until we heard her cry. She was gasping for air and screaming. We tried to make her relax but her blood pressure was high already do she slipped into coma immediately",she explained and I frowned.

" Gasping for air? How?" I asked confusingly. " I think someone did something to her. I asked the nurse about who visited her last and she said a guy claimed he is her nephew. We called the number provided when she was admitted but it didn't go through",she said.

"Nephew? The guy has a black hair, tall and broad?"I asked the doctor and she nodded. "That was the description I was given",she nodded and I gasped. Did Astrid hurt my mother? The only sister my mom has is Zoe's mom and Zoe is her mother's only child.

"What did he do to her?",I asked. "We found large hand prints on her neck and she was gasping for air when we go there so it shows that she was choked", she said.

" Alright, thank you doctor. Please don't let anyone see her or come close to her. I will inform my sister about this",I muttered trying to keep calm. " Yes Ma'am",she replied and I left her office.

What does Astrid want from me? Why did he do that to my mother? I didn't want to leave but my mom forced me too. They do know each other but he is not her nephew. I sighed and walked into Lucas's car. I drove home immediately because my mind was messed up.

The moment, I got home. I went straight into the kitchen to get something to eat which I did. I ate the leftover dinner from last night. After eating I used my medications to calm myself. Joan would still be at work so I don't want her to be distracted. I picked my phone and I was about to call Astrid when I heard the door open.

"Hey Emma", Astrid said and my phone fell from my hands.
