Chapter twenty

Emma's pov
"Hey Emma",Zoe said as she walked towards me."What do you need?" I replied. "Chill Emma, why are you so grumpy?",She raised a curious brow. " Why were you flirting with Lucas this morning? Are you not ashamed of yourself?" I said and crossed my arms over my chest. "I told you i like him, are you jealous?" she smirked and I rolled my eyes. " You can like any other guy but not Lucas. Don't even talk to him when you see him",I warned.

"And why are you saying this?",she asked. " Don't ask me questions, just do as I say",I replied. " Why don't you admit it?" She smirked. " Admit what?" I said. " Admit that you like him. There's no harm in doing so",she said. "You can go home alone after closing hours",I said and walked away from her.

"Hi Emma", Astrid said as he stopped me on my way to the cafeteria. "I'm busy, we will talk later",I muttered. "Are you avoiding me?",He pouted. "No Astrid, I have things to do. Let's talk later",I said. " Okay, can I have your phone number?", He asked. I looked at him and remembered what Lucas told me. He is evil and I should stay away from him. I believe Lucas because I know he can't hurt me.

"And what do you need her number for?" I heard Lucas's voice behind me. " Why don't you mind your business? I wasn't talking to you",Astrid spat. " She is my business so get the fuck out of here",Lucas said in a stern voice. Did he just call me his business?

Astrid walked away angrily. Lucas turned to me and I blushed. He looks so cute in his cooperate outfit today. We had a conversation without arguing and I'm even going to his house for our project. What changed?! We are becoming friends. "Are you okay?" he asked me and I nodded. He walked away and I just stood there. There's something going on between Lucas and Astrid. I really want to find out about it. When Astrid gave me a necklace this morning, Lucas snatched it and ran away with it. I'm confused, what does Astrid want with me?

"Emma!!!" Eva yelled and gave me a hug. "How are you doing?",she asked. "I'm doing good, thank you",I replied with a smile."I'm so glad you are okay",she said. "Thanks and how are you doing?" I asked and she grinned. " I'm doing good. I'm so happy right now, Chris and I are dating",she whispered and my eyes widened in shock. "Wow girl, I'm so happy for you",I gave her a hug.

"He is amazing and I love him",she said with happiness in her voice. I guess, love they say is a very beautiful thing. She looks so happy, I wish I can experience this feeling one day. "I'm happy for you. You look happy with him",I said. " Yes, I am happy with him. So what about you and Lucas? ",She asked.

" What about us?" I raised a brow. "Don't you think it's time you guys should forget about the past and move on?" She said. "We are cool, we had a conversation earlier and we didn't argue",I said and she smiled. "Awwwn, that's cute. I can't wait for this ship to sail",she whispered and walked away. I rolled my eyes and laughed at her behavior. I don't know if anything can ever happen between Lucas and I but we will surely be good friends.

I went to the cafeteria to get some snacks. The rest of the day dragged slowly and I smiled when it was closing time. I carried my bag and went to the parking lot. "Hey Emma, over here", Chris said as he walked out of the building with Eva.

I followed them and we walked towards a red car. Chris opened the front passenger door for me and I entered. Lucas was in the driver's seat, I said nothing. Chris and Eva were giggling in the backseat. The car ride was about twenty minutes and we got to his house. We all alighted from the car and went into the house.

"Want something to drink?" Eva asked. "No, I'm fine",I declined her request politely. I sat in the sitting room while Lucas was no where to be found. "Do you live here?" I asked Eva who was in the kitchen. "Yes I do now. I want to be close to my baby and my house is not safe for me anymore",she replied. " Oh",I said. Chris and Lucas walked to the sitting room, Lucas was so nervous and shaky.

"Babe, we need to go to the store to get groceries", Chris said to Eva." Bye guys",Eva smiled at Lucas and I as she and Chris left the house. "Hi", Lucas said in a low voice. "Why are you nervous? I don't bite",I muttered and he sighed. " Can we start the project now?" He asked. " Are you eager to chase me away?"I countered. "No, Emma. That's not it. I just want us to start working on it early so that you can go home before dark", he said. "Okay so we will be dealing with the heart in our project......",I explained to him about the title and we started working on it. He really did well and I noticed he is brilliant. "Can we take a break? I'm bored already",he groaned. I checked the time and realized we have been studying for two hours.

"We have covered enough for today. We will continue later",I said and stretched my body. He went to the kitchen and took two bottle of orange juice from the fridge. He gave me one and I drank it almost immediately. "So let's talk",he said and sat beside me on the couch.

"What should we talk about?" I asked. "Let's talk about you. I want to know you, who is Emma star?" he said. " I'm just me, nothing much",I replied and he raised his brow. "Emma..",he said my name and it sounded sexy in my ears. I stared into his eyes and he stared into mine like he was looking deep into my soul. He looked nervous and I wonder why.

"Can I ask you something?"he asked in a shaky voice. What's going on? " Talk to me, why are you nervous?"I said. He didn't say anything for a while and I was shocked to my bones when he finally talked. "Can I kiss you?"he blurted out and i gasped in shock.
