Chapter eighteen

Lucas's pov
"Dad, it's not possible. She is not my mate",I said to my dad over the phone with a sigh. "You can't be so sure, lucas. People are after this girl, the greenwood pack knows how special this girl is",he countered." It doesn't matter if she is a special being or not. All I know is that she is not my mate. I'm not connected to her in any way. I don't like her",I protested.

" Not every mates like each other in the beginning. You will definitely fall in love with her in no time",he said and I cringed. The idea of me falling in love with Emma sounds disgusting to me. "Dad, no. This girl is not mine. She hates my guts, she doesn't even want me around her",I groaned.

" Listen, there's a connection between you two. If you're not connected to her in anyway. You wouldn't have gone to save her that night. You have to move closer to that girl and protect her from the greenwoods",he advised. " Okay dad, I will do that",I said. " Please Lucas, get closer to this girl. Elder Ava will make her findings soon",he assured me.

" Thanks Dad but I have one request. Please can you wake my wolf? It will be easier if blue is awake. I will be able know my mate",I asked. " I'm afraid not, Lucas. Your wolf has to stay that way for now because you haven't been taught how to control it okay?",he said. " Okay dad, bye",I replied sadly.

That was the conversation I had with my dad in school today. He said there's high chance of Emma being my mate which is unbelievable. The conversation made me go to her house to know how's she's feeling because she wasn't in school today. When I got to her house earlier today, I was blown away, she wore less clothes and exposed more skin. We fought as always but the moment where we almost kissed was stuck in my head. Damn! "Lucas! You have a message",Chris's voice pulled me out of my little world of thought as he handed me my phone.

The message was from an unknown number and it says "hi handsome". I rubbed my eyes to see if I was dreaming. Did Emma just call me handsome? Is this a joke?. I replied the message and typed "Emma, is this you?" and hit send. "No, it's not Emma. This is her cousin Zoe",the person replied and I was disappointed. I thought it was Emma well she can't call me handsome because she thinks am ugly. Zoe I don't like the girl. I don't like the vibes I get from her like why the hell is she calling me handsome?

"Is that Emma?" Chris asked and I shook my head. "Emma's cousin, that new girl",I replied. " She called you handsome, is she interested in you?",he smirked." I think so but I don't like her. She's too forward, too blunt and jumpy",I complained. " I guess, you are starting to have feelings for Emma right",he winked and I hit him with a pillow.

"I don't like her",I argued. "But she is your mate",he said. "Nobody is sure bout that. You guys should stop assuming nonsense", I warned. " Boys, what's the matter?" Eva yelled from the kitchen and we giggled. " You sound like my mother", Chris said. " That's because I am your mother now",she grinned and we laughed.

Next morning
I groaned when the sound of the alarm woke me up. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and bath. After taking my bath, I wore a grey dress pants with a white shirt tucked in. I feel like dressing up today. I brushed my hair and used my hand to roughen it so that it will look messy. I have added more weight and I look really good. I grabbed my backpack and went to the sitting room.

"Wow! You look really good. Who are you dressing up for?" Chris raised a curious brow and I chuckled. "Not dressing up for anyone. I just want to look good",I said. " You are dressing up for Emma. She will drool when she sees you",Eva winked. I rolled my eyes and grabbed an apple, I don't feel like eating this morning. Chris and Eva joined me in the car and I drove to school. On my way to class, I saw Zoe. "Hi handsome",she said giving me a flirty smile.

She is beautiful, green eyes, pink hair. She is tall and slender. "Zoe, I will prefer you call me by my name",I cautioned softly. " But you are handsome. You look really good",she winked and I rolled my eyes. "Thank you please get out of my way", I said. "No, why did you leave me on seen yesterday?" she raised a brow and pouted. "I was busy",I said with a frown and tried to walk away but Zoe stopped me. Gosh, what the hell is this?

"Zoe, why are you disturbing the guy?", I heard a voice behind me, a familiar voice. It was Emma's, I turned and our eyes locked. I couldn't pull my eyes away from hers. It was like a magnet was pulling me close to her. "Lucas!" Zoe yelled and I looked at her. "Why are you guys staring at each other like that?" she asked. " Zoe, it is none of your business. Can you excuse us? I want to talk to Lucas alone",Emma said in an authoritative voice.

" I will see you later",she winked at me and walked away. " Your cousin is a horn dog",I said to Emma and she giggled. " She is, she chases everything under pants",Emma agreed with a smile on her face.

I stared at her and was amazed. She looks really beautiful with the smile on her face. "You should smile more often, it looks good on you",I blurted out before I could stop myself and she blushed. "Thanks, I want to thank you properly for saving my life",she said and I smiled. "It's fine, I'm glad you are okay now",I said. She nodded and walked to the class. Wait what? Did Emma and I just have a conversation without arguing? This is nice.

I shook my head, I saw Astrid entering the class and I followed him. I sat beside the window while Emma was sitting in the middle of the class but I can still hear anything they say from here. "Emma! I was worried, I didn't see you in school yesterday. I hope you're okay", Astrid said to her. " I'm fine, I just went to do somethings",she replied him. "Okay look I went to this store and I saw this beautiful necklace. I bought it for you",he said with a grin and brought out a diamond necklace with a green pendant.

This necklace looks familiar, wait! Is it not the necklace used to know the strength and power of someone? Why is he giving it to her? Oh no! I think he wants to know who she is. If he finds out that Emma is a special being, he may try to hurt her. I can't let this happen.

"You bought a necklace for me?" Emma said feeling shocked." Yes now put it on. Let's see how good it looks on you", Astrid winked and handed the necklace to Emma. Emma was confused but she was about to put on the necklace when I snatched it away from her. "What the fuck?" Astrid yelled at me angrily.
