Perplexed soul

Down the aisle, I was lost in thoughts, drowning in my fear, my fingers stuck beneath the gnawing teeth, it was almost certain that I would not be welcome in his presence anymore.

I would have said he would behead me, but I was pregnant for his child, the only security I had was that he wanted this child more than he wanted anything in his entire life.


Meera had no idea how much trouble she had placed me in, she must be so happp, at least she got exactly what she wanted, she could finally stay over, but with a price tag attached to it.


‘Goddess please, I beg of you, spare my life while she is around me, bless the Alpha with a calm mind, at least not to hit me while she is around’

I could barely completely my prayer when I caught sight of Beta Zeeb ln the garden, he was tending to some flowers.


Whilst holding a petal, I watch him bring it closer to his nose, inhaling with utmost gratitude , he was so engulfed that he didn’t notice how close I was behind him.

He might be lobo’d brother, but he was completely different, he wasn’t blessed with canal aggression, he was quiet and barely talked to people, he was blessed with tactics and strength. A face sculpted precisely to be pleasing.


I have heard servants adore him so many times, I could almost recite their words, but while staring at him lovingly, there was a particular comment that resonated in my mind.

I walked closer, out of sheer curiosity in hopes he wouldn’t take note of my presence but my attempt fell right through when he pulled his sword from his sheath, in a jiffy I was placed in a vulnerable position.


The tip of his sword pointed directly at my neck.


“Beta zeeb, it’s me!” I said amidst my panic, my hands suspended in the air, I stood my ground, my eyes bulging in its socket, my heart pacing in an insane speed, I was only a step away from being killed.


“Oh sorry, I didn’t take note of your presence” he apologised, immediately he threw the sword far from him, grabbed me by my shoulder, he raised my neck, checking for a scratch, it was the first time I saw him worried.


“I am fine” I said, hoping he would leave me, and maybe calm down, but he didn’t till he had convinced himself that I was okay.


“I am really sorry Luna, I was” he paused, then stared at the pot of daisy’s, he narrowed his eyes back at me, somewhat embarrassed.



“I didn’t know you liked nature this much, I like that, at least we have something in common now”

“Uhm”


I watched him scratch the back of his hair, he avoided my gaze like a plague, it was our very first conversation in years.


Maybe he wasn’t comfortable with it, I totally understand, so I eased his suffering by focusing elsewhere.


“Meera. She’s staying for a month, probably you might entertain her, I shouldn’t be the one telling you this, but my sister has a eye for you” passing a weak smile towards his direction, I took note of his expression, it bore worries, he was instantly pale like blood had been drained from his face.


I confused it for surprise, but he creased his brow in an obvious frown, he was angry?


“Luna”

“What is it zeeb”


“How much do you trust your sister?, I just want to bear from you that’s all, how close are they both of you”


Just as I suspected, he must have suspected Meera, and I hated that his brother had to be the barrier between both of them, they would make such a great couple. Zeeb was the perfect mate for Meera, so as an older sister it was que.


“Zeeb” I started, “Meera is a playful Wolf, she plays with everyone” I didn’t need to say everything in detail for him to understand what I was saying.


“I just want to ask how close you are with your sister,”


“We are very close zeeb, and very much inseparable, what ever you feel is just mere doubt, I know a lot is going on in the park, but I won’t believe my sister can be a party to it, you have told me once, and I wanted to correct you, but you left so quick I could not say anything, so now that I have the opportunity to say it



“I want to tell you, Meera is my junior sister, I watched her grow, we have loved each other dearly since our early days, and the goddess had bonded us together, so whatever you see, I just want to let you know that it’s just a phase, she likes Alpha lobo, because he’s friendly with her”


“And not you—“


“Stop!” I retorted. Instantly triggered.


“Fine, if you say so, then I believe you” I wasn’t opportune to speak, as he walked away after he completed his sentence.

Odd.


Now I was left in the garden with a perplexed mind, what does he suspect of her so much, besides he’s not the only one who knows Meera is so playful with Lobo.


Well…


To ease my thoughts I walked out of the park, to meet up with the park members, I had taken it upon myself to perform a public sermon on sanitation today, and mostly health care for the park members as I won’t be available to heal people, it would only be reasonable for me to educate them on how to stay healthy.



I alarmed the park messenger to move the messages across town so the wolves interested would meet me at the community hall while I prepared myself for the speech, and just when the park wolves had begun to trip I felt a thud in my heart, a sharp familia pain.


Lobo was at it again, shit! I could not bail on the park wolves now.
