Makeshift feelings
In the dim light of the makeshift medical tent, Anisha’s focus was unwavering. The air was filled with a low murmur of conversation and the rustle of medical supplies as some female wolves helped her set the place up.
She moved smoothly, her hands steady as she worked tirelessly. The tent was soon filled with patients and she began to show her expertise—applying ointments, bandaging wounds, and administering herbs to those in desperate need.
Anisha approached a particularly frail man, whose emaciated frame lay propped up on a bed of blankets. His face was etched with exhaustion, and his eyes reflected a glimmer of hope as he looked at her. With a soft touch, she offered him a bowl of warm broth, her voice gentle and reassuring.
“Here, this should help you regain some strength. Just take it slow,” she said, her tone soothing.
The man accepted the bowl with trembling hands, his gratitude palpable as he sipped the warm liquid. For a brief moment, the fatigue that weighed on Anisha seemed to lift, replaced by a sense of fulfillment as she witnessed the relief her care brought.
She had always loved to see people relieved of their pain.
Nearby, another patient winced as Anisha expertly cleaned a deep gash on his arm. Her hands moved with practiced efficiency, applying a soothing salve and wrapping it in a fresh bandage. The patient managed a weak smile, his voice filled with gratitude.
“Thank you. I didn’t think I’d make it through the night,” he murmured.
Anisha returned the smile, her own eyes reflecting her dedication. “You’re going to be just fine. Rest now; you need to conserve your strength.”
The hours ticked by as Anisha continued her rounds, moving from one patient to the next. Despite the growing exhaustion, she wiped tears from her forehead and set to work.
After administering care to a patient they all thanked her gratefully and the grateful look from those she helped, provided her with the strength to carry on.
At a corner of the camp Zeeb stood there with the Rogue Alpha sipping a glass of wine with him.
“She is really good and a hard worker, I'm grateful to you two, you were tight, we really need your help.” The Rogue Alpha nodded, causing Zeeb to smile.
“Yes she is,” Zeeb replied. He had been against all this and for it to actually go smoothly was surprising. Perhaps it was going too smoothly, Zeeb had a foreboding feeling creeping in his mind.
Zeeb gulped down the wine and turned to the Rogue Alpha, “If you would excuse me sir, I would like to go talk to her.” Zeeb smiled at the Rogue Alpha as he saw Anisha finally packing up.
The Rogue Alpha nodded at him as he dropped the cup on the table. “Alright then”
In the quiet of their tent, Zeeb and Anisha finally found a moment of solace. As Anisha sat down, exhausted from the day's healing, Zeeb pulled her gently but firmly into his arms.
The exhaustion in Anisha’s eyes was met with Zeeb’s intense gaze, and they shared a tender, charged moment.
They could feel the air between them become cooler as their lips almost met. The connection was palpable, each moment stretching on the brink of passion. But just as they were about to kiss, a loud crash echoed from outside the tent.
Anisha's eyes snapped open, her head turning towards the noise. Zeeb’s grip on her tightened protectively as both of them quickly realized that their romantic moment was interrupted.
“Emergency!”
“Emergency!” someone shouted from outside.
The sounds of chaos and shouts from the rogues filled the air, pulling them back into the urgency of their situation.
“Stay here,” Zeeb murmured, his voice a mix of concern and frustration. He gave her one last lingering look before slipping
out of the tent.
Anisha, still shaken, decided to step out and see what was happening.
As Anisha rushed outside, her heart sank at the sight of the Rewa Park leader bleeding and Anisha immediately leapt to his aid. He had been talking to Zeeb saying a few words before collapsing.
Zeeb had already gotten the info as his face turned pale white.
The rogue wolves stood in a circle around Anisha, their expressions hardened with skepticism. The air was thick with suspicion as Anisha’s pleas cut through the tension.
“We can’t just take in a stranger,” the rogue leader said, his voice gruff. “What if he’s a spy? We don’t know anything about him.”
Anisha’s eyes were earnest and desperate. “He’s not a spy. He’s the leader of Rewa Park, that's our pack, and he’s gravely injured. We need to get him to the tent for treatment.”
Zeeb stepped forward, his demeanor firm and authoritative. “He’s one of ours. I vouch for him. We’ve seen how dire his condition is. We can’t just leave him to suffer.”
“Let them through, and help them.” the Rogue Alpha said, rushing to the scene. Two rogue wolves stepped up and picked the already unconscious man and led him to the tent.
Amidst the chaos, Anisha expertly guided the injured leader to a quiet room for treatment. The park members gathered anxiously, but Zeeb quickly shooed them away to ensure privacy.
With the room now quiet, Zeeb turned to Anisha and, with a grave tone, revealed, "Lobo attacked him back in the mountains. He must have discovered your hideout."
Anisha’s face went pale as the realization struck her. The safety of her previous refuge was compromised, and she knew she could never return there.
The weight of the danger hung heavily between them, but Anisha’s resolve hardened. She glanced at Zeeb, her eyes filled with a bit of fear.
“We have to find a new place, and quickly,” Anisha said, her voice steady despite the turmoil. Zeeb nodded in agreement, understanding the urgency of the situation.
But at this moment the leader of the rogue came into the tent and glanced at the injured man then at Zeeb and Anisha.
