Protective Cloak
Alpha Lobo POV
His hands were filled with blood right after I finished beating Meera. I stared at them, the dark red liquid dripping from my fingers onto the floor. I couldn’t feel anything. It was as if my senses had been numbed, as if the gravity of my actions had yet to fully sink in. Meera lay unconscious at my feet, her face filled with bruises and cuts. The reality of what I had done slowly seeped into my consciousness, but my mind refused to process it. It was easier to feel nothing, to embrace the void. But, she was there, amd my hand were stained.
Meera has been a bone in my tgroat hut i jad frown fond of her. The one I had thought that I started liking her. But today, I discovered the truth—a truth that shattered whatever was left of my heart. She had been sleeping with one of my guards, and the child she was carrying was not mine. The betrayal cut deeper than any physical wound ever could.
I had lost control. The rage had consumed me, transforming me into a monster. Now, here she was, broken and bleeding because of my fury. I bent down, my fingers brushing against her swollen face. “Wake up, Meera,” I whispered, though I knew she couldn’t hear me. “Why did you have to lie? Why did you have to betray me?”
She remained motionless, her chest barely rising with each shallow breath. I knew what had to be done, but it didn’t make it any easier. Taking out my phone, I called for my men. They arrived quickly, their faces a mix of shock and fear as they saw the state Meera was in.
“Take her away,” I ordered, my voice devoid of emotion. “Clean her up and send her back to her parents’ pack. She’s no longer welcome here.”
The men hesitated for a moment, then obeyed. As they lifted Meera’s limp body, I turned away, unable to watch. The blood on my hands felt like it was burning, a constant reminder of my failure and rage. I walked over to the sink and tried to wash it off, but the stains remained, both on my skin and in my soul.
When Meera was finally carried out of the pack house, I collapsed into a chair, my mind filled with regret and confusion. How had it come to this? How had I allowed my anger to take over so completely?
The door creaked open, and I looked up to see Sabrina standing there. Her presence want what i needed but i didn't have a choice. She walked in with wuth a feel of calm and confidence, her eyes meeting mine with an unreadable expression.
“ Lobo,” she said, her voice smooth and steady. “I heard what happened. May I come in?”
I nodded, gesturing for her to sit. “Please, join me for a drink.” I replied. Sje decided to act being polite and i decided to act the same too.
Sabrina took a seat across from me, and I poured us both a glass of whiskey. We sat in silence for a moment, the tension thick in the air. I watched her carefully, trying to gauge her intentions. She had always been a mystery to me, a puzzle I could never quite solve.
She took a sip of her drink, her eyes never leaving mine. “I’m sorry about Meera,” she said finally. “I know this must be difficult for you.”
I scoffed, unable to hide the bitterness in my voice. “Difficult doesn’t even begin to describe it. She betrayed me, Sabrina. She lied to me, and I…” My voice trailed off, the regret of my actions weighing me down.
Sabrina leaned forward, her gaze intense. “You did what you thought was necessary. But you need to stay focused, Lobo. There are bigger issues at hand.”
I knew what she was referring to. Zeeb. She had instructed me to kill him and inwas yet to do ao. She looked unhappy wit it. “I’m trying my best to find him,” I said, my frustration evident. “But it’s like he’s vanished into thin air. I have no idea where he is.”
Sabrina nodded, her expression thoughtful. “Zeeb is cunning, but he can’t hide forever. We’ll find him. In the meantime, you need to stay strong. The pack needs you, Lobo.”
I looked into her eyes, searching for any sign of doubt or deception. But all I saw was determination. Sabrina wasn't ome to he trusted. As bad as i keot wondering what her intentions for being nice are.. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. “Thank you, Sabrina. For sympatizing with me. It means more than you know.”
She smiled, a rare and fleeting expression. “We’re in this together, Lobo. You’ll get through it. One step at a time.”
We sat in silence for a while, finishing our drinks. The weight of the night’s events hung heavily in the air, but there was a sense of resolve as well. I knew that no matter how dark things seemed, I couldn’t give up. I had to keep fighting, for the sake of my pack and for myself.
As Sabrina got up to leave, she paused at the door, turning back to me. “Rest, Lobo. Tomorrow is a new day. We’ll face whatever comes l.”
I nodded, grateful for her presence. “Goodnight, Sabrina.”
“Goodnight.” she replied, closing the door behind her.
My thoughts a storm of rage and frustration. Anisha’s words, her threats, still echoed in my mind, a relentless reminder of her defiance. Zeeb, my own brother, had become a failure and a threat to my rule. I couldn’t let them win.
Sabrina came back, ahe looked as though she forgot something. Her eyes gleamed with a knowing look, one that promised answers and more. "Lobo," she began, her voice a smooth, silken thread that pulled me from my dark thoughts. "I can't find Zeeb or Anisha. Her powers block me from seeing Anisha, and because she’s in love with Zeeb, her love covers him, making him invisible and stronger."
My hands clenched into fists, the anger surging anew. "Invisible and stronger?" I spat, my voice barely controlled. "How can love make him stronger?"
Sabrina stepped closer, her eyes never leaving mine. "Love is a powerful force, one that can shield and empower. Anisha’s love for Zeeb is a protective cloak, making him invisible. As long as they are together, he will be nearly impossible to defeat."
The rage boiled over, and I growled low in my throat. "Then I’ll kill him," I vowed, each word laced with venom. "I’ll kill my brother and tear them apart. Nothing will stand in my way."
A smile played on Sabrina’s lips, seductive and dangerous. She moved closer, her hand trailing up my arm, igniting a fire beneath my skin. "Lobo," she purred, "there are other ways to gain power, ways that don’t involve such brute force."
Her words were a promise, and despite my anger, I was drawn to her. "What are you suggesting?" I asked, my voice rough.
Sabrina’s eyes sparkled with a dangerous allure. She leaned in, her breath warm against my ear. "If I become queen," she whispered, "I will mate with you. Together, we will fill the world with hybrids, a new breed of wolf that will be unstoppable."
Her lips brushed against mine, the kiss a slow, seductive promise of power and dominance. The temptation was intoxicating, a heady mix of desire and ambition. I could feel my tesion weakening, my anger giving way to a lust for the power she offered.
"Sabrina," I murmured against her lips, my hands gripping her waist, "together, we will rule. Nothing and no one will stand in our way."
She pulled back slightly, her eyes locking onto mine, filled with a triumphant gleam. "Then it’s settled," she said, her voice firm and commanding. "We will destroy Anisha and Zeeb, and I will become queen. You will be my king, and we will create a new world order."
The vision she painted was intoxicating, a future where I held ultimate power, unchallenged and supreme. I could see it so clearly, feel the weight of the crown, the adoration of our subjects, the fear and respect of our enemies.
But beneath the seductive promise, a flicker of doubt remained. The bond between Anisha and Zeeb was strong, stronger than I had anticipated. Their love was a force I couldn’t easily overcome. .
As she kissed me again, deeper this time, I let myself be swept away by the promise of power and conquest. Iblet her do whatever she like. Together, we would forge a new destiny, one that would see our enemies crushed and our reign unchallenged. I ahd noniea where all these thoughts wrre coming frm, but they were coming.
But as the night stretched on, and the darkness deepened, I couldn’t shake the nagging thought that this path, while promising power, might also lead to our downfall. Sabrina’s ambitions matched my own, but her methods were as dangerous as they were alluring.
For now, though, I was blinded by the vision of what could be, the power that lay just within our grasp. And I would stop at nothing to claim it, even if it meant destroying those I once called family.
