Chapter 14

MADELINE
Argh! I hate her!
My brother is acting like an idiot. He's soaring our family name in the mud. What is wrong with him? I was told that girl keeps coming to his house. Jayden would never invite someone like that to his house unless there's something else to it.
I won't let this slide. I won't let anyone get in the way of my ambitions. I may seem to ambitious for my age but life has made me like this. Life gave all the food things to my brother and allowed us to be under him. That's totally unfair on my side.
I bumped into another annoying person on my way out. She smiled at me while I flashed her an angry look.
"Hello Madeline. I-"
"You're not someone I'd like to waste my spit on Davina. Not after what you did to my brother years ago. You think I'll just let that slide and let you into his life? Think again miss." I stated rudely.
She smiled again, "I have no idea what you're talking about Madeline. Whatever happened between your brother and I is in the past. I think he should make decisions for himself."
I can't believe the nerve of this girl. She is still bold enough to be rude and talk to me like that! Yet she wants chances with my brother.
"Oh shut up Davina. I know what you're doing and all your schemes. You have no idea who you're up against. You finally heard that my brother is now rich and you want to snake your way into his life again. That's not gonna work when I'm around." I fumed.
"I think your brother should decide on that. Besides this is a private matter between us, I shouldn't be discussing this with you. Mind your business." She made to leave but I pulled her back and gave her a resounding slap.
The nerves of this girl. She has the guts to be rude to me after all she's done? There's not even a sign of remorse on her face.
"You stupid bitch! You don't even feel remorseful after all you did to my brother! After all the harm you caused him! He's able to get back on his feet and bitches like you are hanging around him. I won't let it slide anymore! Stay the hell away from him." I warned and walked away.
I stopped to look at her, she's still holding her face in shock and staying on one spot. A satisfactory smile crossed my face. I hope she got the message.
My driver drove me back home. I met Samantha coming from the kitchen with a tub of ice cream. Samantha is crazy about ice cream and I am worried at this rate she might harm herself with it. It's going to be dangerous to her health if anything happens to her because of ice cream.
"What have I told you about taking ice cream madam?" I asked with a frown.
She pouted, "I just wanted some. I haven't had all day, don't tell mom. Pretty please."
I sighed, "Fine but this is the last time I would let you do this to yourself. I won't be responsible for finding myself in front of mom reporting you next time."
She jumped, "Yay! Thank you!"
I rolled my eyes, "Stop acting like a little teenager dear. It doesn't suit you."
"Stop acting like an old abandoned lady Maddie. It doesn't suit you. Get yourself a boyfriend." She retorted.
I stared at her in shock. Did she just ask me to get a boyfriend? Over what?
"Oh I'm sorry... I didn't mean it like that. It's just a joke Maddie. Don't get mad okay?."
I nodded, "No it's fine. I'll get one when I see the right person. I just haven't found one yet."
She dropped the ice cream tub and sat beside me with a worried face.
"I am so sorry Maddie. You must be really hurt by what I said. I just wanted to make a joke not make fun of you. I always say the same thing to Jay too." She apologized.
"Don't worry about it Sam. I understand you. And about Jay, we need to talk to him. He's going around with a new girl.."
"He's got a girlfriend! Oh wow!" She exclaimed with gladdened eyes.
"Not a girlfriend. But I'm afraid this girl is like Davina. And worse still she's a whore. What would Jayden be doing with a woman like that and letting her into his mansion?"
She shook her head.
"I don't know what to say. But he's my brother and I'll respect whatever decision he takes. He must have seen something in her to want to be with her."
I knew she wouldn't see reasons with me. The only person I can convince now is my mother.
"You're saying this because you don't understand the dangers of life yet. Once you do, you'll realize why we need to protect our brother. He's mature but too naive to see the light. Why is he always after women that would ruin him?"
"I understand everything Maddie. How did you know this anyway? Jayden did not come tell us anything. Have you been stalking him?"
Silence.
"Maddie leave him to live his life. Stop trying to protect him. Whatever decision he makes, let him dwell in it."
I did not say anything else as I made my way up to my room. I will do things my own way.
DAVINA
"It's all set sir. We're good to go." I said to my boss.
"That's good Davina. Keep it up. We must seal the deal with that company and have those shares. Keep me posted on any updates." He said with his grumpy voice and hung up.
I hate to think that this man has had me before. It was a time of ignorance but I still regret it very much. I didn't want to do it, yet I will have remained at the bottom of I didn't do it.
It took me a lot of soaring my hands and selling my body to get to where I am now. I am one of the most trusted employees at the company. But all that's in the past now. My main focus now is to get Jayden to love me again. With him I can have everything I want in the world. Love, care, attention, wealth and happiness.
I was a fool to throw all that away in the past. It hurts me now to know that he is still mad at me. The way he shuns me and gives me less attention is disturbing.
I decided to go home after work, I will be patient. I made sure I found a reason to go on the business trip with Jayden. Though we are not going together. My company's participating through Jayden so I thought I should be there.
But it's mainly because I want to have him back. I'll use this trip as my ticket back into his heart. No matter how he keeps pushing me, I won't stop.
"Well I think you should stop this madness. I'll tell you the truth. You should focus on getting another person not Jayden. He's clearly no longer interested in you." Stacey said breaking my thoughts.
I scoffed, "Come on Stacey. It is not my fault that my boss wants me to go on this business trip. You should understand by now that nature wants us to be together. I mean all this is too much of a coincidence right?"
"Coincidence my foot. I am your best friend and I hate to see you hurt yourself like this. I am warning you now so you don't come crying to me when all this backfires. I won't be there for you anymore." She snapped and walked out.
There's nothing to cry for. I am a very ambitious and I will get what I want. I'll go pack my bags.
