Chapter 38

MADELINE
I got back to the mansion and met my mom already waiting for me. I felt a bit scared that Jayden might have told her what happened. I gulped nervously, my little sister also came down at this time.
"What happened to you dear? Are you alright?" Mom asked checking me all over.
"You came back quite early Maddie. Jayden called mom that you were not feeling well. What's wrong with you?" Samantha said.
Jayden told them I wasn't feeling well? He did not tell them what really happened? This is making me more annoyed.
"You look so pale. We should visit the doctor immediately. Why didn't you visit the hospital there?" Mom said looking worried.
"I'm fine mom. I just don't like the weather there. I'll be fine now that I'm back home." I lied.
"But Jayden emphasized that you were so sick. He said you refused to visit the hospital and we should not call you till you get back. You should visit the hospital if you don't feel well." Samantha suggested.
"Seriously mom, I'm so tired. I have to go rest in my room. I will try and visit the doctor if I don't feel better." I replied ignoring my sister. I know she is getting suspicious, she's trouble to deal with sometimes.
"Do you want me to get you anything?"
I shook my head, "There's no need mom. Excuse me."
I rushed out of the living room before mom would insist on seeing the doctor. I got into my room and slammed the door shut. I dropped my bags on the bed holding my head in anger. This is the highest form of embarrassment coming from my brother! He chose to be with a stranger than his own blood and he chased me away.
"I will make you pay for this! I promise you Carla." I gritted my teeth.
I stayed in my room the whole day and only went out for dinner. I need to think of a way to get her out fast. Davina's not doing things the way I expected, she's not even smart. She is supposed to be one step ahead of me since she has more desire to separate them, but she's being an idiot.
I called her and asked her to meet me up. The next day, we met at a secluded spot to avoid any attention. For all I know, my brother could be watching us.
"Hey." She said sitting down in front of me.
"Did he pick up your calls?" I asked her.
"No. I don't think he ever will. What did you tell your mom when you got back?"
"He already told her I fell sick. He even told her I'll be on leave for a month, how kind of him?" I said sarcastically.
She gasped, "Wow. This is the level of anger your brother has. It shows how much influence that bitch has on him. I don't think we'd be able to break them apart."
I nodded, "That may be true. But I am more determined now then ever to break them apart. And that's what I'm going to do. I'll send her packing in no time."
"What do you plan on doing? For all I know, your brother is now being watchful."
"Watch and learn."

I got back home a bit late. I have been going around the whole day trying to get my work done. The living room lights were off. I switched them on only to get a big fright. My sister was seated on the couch looking at me like a ghost.
"What the heck Sammie! You scared me!" I yelled holding my chest.
"Oh I did. I'm sorry big sis. I just thought we needed to talk." She said with no sign of remorse.
I changed my expression to a cold one. She wants to talk and she's being creepy. Besides why not wait till tomorrow, this girl would make me kill her one day.
"What do you want to talk about that you're being so creepy?" I asked her coldly.
"About Jayden, and why you left your business trip so soon." She replied making my heart skip.
"What about Jayden? I thought he already told you why I came back? Why don't you just deal with it?"
She scoffed, "You know I'm not that stupid to believe that lie. I'm not saying mom is stupid for believing you either, but she's too innocent. I called Jayden and he told me everything."
What? Jayden told Samantha everything? Of course, they're buddies and he tells her everything. While I'm always the sister he is distant with.
"So what? I don't regret doing what I did. He's going around with a slut ruining the family's reputation. It would have been much better if he got back with Davina instead of that whore!" I yelled defenseless.
She narrowed her eyes, "What? How could you do that?! And isn't Davina....his ex?"
Samantha is confusing me. Why is she asking me if she knows everything?
"Davina! That bitch who broke his heart! You want him to get back with her? Are you being serious Maddie? How much do you hate Jayden that you want to hurt him like that?" She scolded me.
"I thought you already know everything! Why are you asking me that if you already know?!" I fired back.
She chuckled, "Sis, I tricked you and you fell for it. I have been suspecting something was fishy when Jayden told mom that story. You are sick yet you never looked like it or acted like it. In fact, you looked surprised when we told you yesterday. So I decided to trick you into knowing the truth. I can't believe you'd do this to our brother."
What? She tricked me!
I've been so stupid to believe she called Jayden. Gosh, this girl is so annoying.
"I don't care if you know the truth now. I won't let Jayden be with that gold digging bitch ever. I won't let her come into this family and ruin everything." I fumed.
"The bitch? Jayden is not a child Maddie. He's an adult! Our older brother for pete's sake!"
"Our family reputation matters a lot and if our older brother won't be mature enough to keep it, I'm sorry I can't sit by and watch him ruin it."
She frowned, "Maddie what are you saying?! What has his relationship got to do with public opinion? It's his life and his rules. He has the right to be with whoever he wants to. Whoever makes him happy, you should let him be with. He has been heartbroken for a long time now, when he finally decided to open up you want to stop him. Let him be Maddie, he is not a child!"
"I'm not having this conversation with you Samantha. You are still immature and do not understand anything." I said leaving.
"This is not about the family reputation. This is all about your ambitions Maddie. I know how much you want what Jayden has. You would lose it if he gets married, that's what you're afraid of." She said making me stop.
I didn't turn, "You can think whatever you want. I am not as stupid as you."
"And I'm not as self centered as you are. You only care about yourself! Stop showing all this fake love for Jayden, you don't love him!" She yelled trying to make me feel bad.
I walked out on her and went to my room. I slammed the door shut and groaned in anger. Why has Samantha refuse to understand me? She's just too stupid for my liking. I don't care what she thinks. That won't stop me from doing what I want to do.
JERRY
After my meeting with Carla, I can't help but feel angry. This is the problem I've always had with Jayden Romans right from start. He is always trying to have whatever I want. In the business sector, he always goes after the contracts I plan to have. His company is always competing with mine and bringing out new products to make mine outdated.
To top it all, he hates me for no reason at all. I have never been able to fall in love with any woman until I met Carla. She seems to be perfect in everything, even if her profession is otherwise. She looks too good to be called a slut, I'm also addicted to her. Now he's trying to take her away also. That's the height of it, I won't back down for him this time. Maybe I would if it was someone else not Jayden.
"What are you thinking about Jerry?" I heard Damien ask as he came into the room.
I guess he must have been knocking and no one's giving him a reply.
I turned, "Nothing much. Can I help you?"
He sat down on the couch, "I'm having a hot argument with my wife right now so I decided to give her a break before I lose my mind. I don't understand women seriously, they never appreciate how much you love them. All they do is throw tantrums and get jealous. I'm exhausted."
"You have to be patient with her. She's just trying to protect what you both share." I replied.
He frowned, "You're taking sides with her. I guess you've not been in love before. Of course, I haven't seen you pick interest in any woman since we've met."
I sat down. "That may be true. But I decided to try that and I have been disappointed. Love doesn't always work the right way."
He rubbed his chin playfully, "May I know who this angel in disguise is? It's surprising that someone could make you feel this way."
"Does it matter? She's with another man."
"And you'll give up on her just like that? You won't fight for her at all? Have you told her about this?" He asked.
I nodded, "I did. She refused my offer, I don't see any reason why I should push further."
"Hmm... I wouldn't give up that easily if I were you. You should try and put more effort, maybe she would change her mind. I'm just saying though."
"Perhaps, I will."

I waited for her to come out of the room before pulling her aside. She isn't expecting to see me at all obviously.
"Jerry! What are you doing?" She half yelled.
"I want to see you but it's not possible with you always locking yourself in there." I told her.
I have no idea why I'm doing this though.
"You could have called or texted. What did you want to talk about?" She asked.
"Giving me a chance."
She rolled her eyes, "I thought we already talked about this. I am not joking Jerry, I want to be with Jayden because I love him. I can't do anything about it. Can't you understand?"
"Is it weird that I don't want to? I..."
"What is going on here?" His voice roared through the hallways.
"Jayden..." She called in panic.
What is wrong with her? She's so scared of him now?
"She's talking to me, you're not blind right?" I replied with sarcasm.
He punched me in the face in no time making nose bleed. I wanted to retaliate but Carla stepped in front of us.
"Don't! Don't do this here! Please." She pleaded.
"I'm so sorry Jerry. Are you okay?" She asked checking me.
"I.."
"Yes he is. Now let him go!" Jayden yelled at her.
"Jayden! Stop being so inconsiderate! He's bleeding." She yelled at him.
"It's okay Carla. I'll be fine."
I glared at him and walked away. I'm going to have my revenge on him. That's for sure. He won't get away with what he just did to me.
