Chapter 24

MADELINE
Finally arrived at the island. My brother didn't do well by refusing to invite me. Anyways, I found my way here. This is a business trip and I needed to be here.
I'm a part of the Romans Group too. I'm also a major shareholder in the company, I deserve to be here. But he didn't invite me, all because he found a stupid girl to go with.
The hotel staff came to collect my bags and led me to my suite. It's quite large and to my taste. I can't wait to see my brother's face when he knows I'm here.
He may be stupid, but I won't let another gold digger get in the way of my plans.
"There's a party going on tonight madam. Would you like me to include your name on the guest list?" The staff asked.
I shook my head, not yet.
"Never mind. I'm not ready yet, I'll go to the next party." I replied.
"As you wish madam. Excuse me." He bowed and walked out.
I have decided to stay indoors all day and only go out when they must have been done with the party. For the meantime, I'll go take a long bath and a nap.

It's very late already. The party should have been almost over by now. I dressed up in casual clothes and went out. I found myself a spot at the poolside to sit.
It would have been great if I didn't have to run into this annoying girl. She's always chasing my brother here and there. After all she did, she thinks my brother's supposed to take him back.
She's not even a staff of the company, how come she's here? Only top businessmen are allowed here. She must be under the influence of someone powerful.
She smiled on seeing me and waved at me. I actually had to look back to be sure I'm the one. Is she suffering from brain damage? Doesn't she realize that I'm the one? Or is there a ghost behind me?
"Hi Madeline. It's so good to see you here." She smiled.
"I know right?" I faked a smile, then my expression changed immediately.
"Stop being so fake. I know you don't like me. Go straight to the point, what do you want?" I asked coldly.
She sighed, showing her innocent sorry face which I never fall for. My brother's the stupid one to fall for all her tricks. I'm not dumb.
"I know you're mad at me Madeline. Considering what I did to your brother and how I treated you the last time. I am so sorry, I was stupid back then. And for the other day, it's the result of a bad mood."
After reading this long note, I still haven't been told the real reason she's trying to be nice.
"You're still not telling me what you want." I reminded her.
She looks worn out, her hair is a bit messy. That's non of my business, I don't care about her.
"I need your help." She finally said.
I burst into a loud laughter. Some passersby thought I was crazy, they'd go crazier if they found out what I'm laughing at.
"I knew it. Girls like you don't turn nice overnight for nothing. There's always a reason behind it. Tell me more." I crossed my arm.
I want to hear her talk, mock her then leave. There's actually no way I'll help her. Help her hurt my brother again? Hell no! No matter what, he's still my brother. I care about him, I only want his wealth.
"Your brother's the issue."
"Hm. Interesting. What did my brother do? Reject you as always?" I mocked.
"I am changed already Madeline. I wish you could just see that and give me another chance. I promise I won't screw up anymore." She begged.
"You still haven't told me what you need me to do. You are wasting my time." I sneered.
"Help me convince him to forgive me. That new girl has to go for him to consider me a little."
I rolled my eyes. She is right about that girl going. I won't let her be with my brother after finding out what she is.
"Are you better than her in any way? You're both gold diggers."
She shook her head.
"No Madeline. I regretted leaning your brother immediately. But when I came back, you people moved away. I tried everything to communicate with you and even told the housekeeper. Please, I am sincere about your brother. Help me please."
She did the unexpected by going down on her knees. I wasn't expecting that. She's right about calling ten years ago, I picked up the phone and told the housekeeper not to call again.
If I had let her meet my brother, could they have been happy now? My brother refused to hook up with any woman since then. He obviously still loves this dubious woman.
She says she is changed. I'd like to see that change if it's possible.
"Get up. You're embarrassing me. Just get up or I won't help you." She looks so pathetic.
She might be a great help to move that slut out of my brother's life after all.
"You should get an oscar in acting. I was quite convinced though. I'll help you."
Her eyes lit with joy, she leaped.
"Really? Thank you so much. I'm going to-"
"On one condition. You do whatever I ask you to do. You need to be obedient if you want my brother to take you back."
Silence.
"What? You weren't expecting me to agree without my own terms. Take it or leave it, I'm out of here." I turned to leave.
"No wait. I was just lost in thoughts. I accept your condition." She pulled me back.
I smirked, "I prefer you to that bitchy slut. I'll help you win my brother over, but you have to do your part. I am not my brother and I can't guarantee his heart will change. But we will work towards that, once we chase that scam girl away."
She nodded in agreement. A slight smile and displeasure on her face. Life's not easy, you don't get everything for free. I have my own plans, I know my brother may not take her back.
But she's much better than that bitch. Though I won't let her hurt him again, I have to comply to her wishes for now. Just to get rid of that bitch.
"I appreciate your help. I won't let you down." She promised.
"I hope you don't mistakenly make a promise you can't keep out of desperation. Or you might lose all your fingers. Just saying." I sounded her a warning.
"No I won't."
Oh you won't. We were kids back then and I couldn't do anything. Now, you'll suffer with your entire family if you do anything stupid again.
"How do we get rid of this girl? I can't stand seeing her with Jayden. She's literally all over him, flaunting herself like she's the biggest thing in the world. I hate her." She said full of hatred.
This girl isn't lucky if she's got someone like me and Davina hating her. She's a gonna. I heard Davina used to be a bad ass bully in high school. Mess with her or her friends and you're a goner.
"I'll see what I can do about that girl. You keep doing whatever you're doing. I will bother my brother about you, then push him to send her away. If it doesn't work, we'll do it the hard way."
She looks relieved. I am beginning to like her. At least for now we've got the same goals, I hope they remain the same though.
She can always change her mind, I'll be right here watching her.
