Chapter 40

CARLA
Last night was a bit boring as Jayden fell asleep beside me. I had to cover him up and continued watching the movie. It seems he was very tired from wherever he was coming from and it showed perfectly on his face. He only tried not to act like it to keep me company. I later woke him up to my bedroom. But I did not find him beside me this morning when I woke up.
He sent me a text that he has an emergency at work and he left early to attend to it. He's a very busy man, I understand. I wonder if he had breakfast at all today. So I called him and offered to get him lunch, which he agreed to. Of course, knowing how always jealous Jayden is. I arrived at the huge corporation watching it in awe. I still can't believe my boyfriend owns all of this. It's quite a big achievement for him to have all of this at his age.
I got to the reception and showed her the text from Jayden. She eyed me a bit before directing me to the top floor where his office is. Most people were looking at me strangely, while some men are lusting over me. Just let Jayden see you people doing that.
I managed to get to his office area through the elevator. I stopped in front of his secretary who glared at me. She threw me disgusting and hateful looks like I'm some sort of trash.
"Can I help you?" She asked coldly.
"I'm here to see your boss Miss. Can you tell him I'm here?" I politely replied.
She scoffed, "The nerves sluts like you have to order me around! Just because you are now being fucked and paid by Mr Romans, you feel like you own the world."
I shook my head, "That's way too much. I only asked you to inform your boss I am here. Why are you trying to pick a fight with me over nothing?"
"What is it? Are you gonna cry? Well you may as well get lost and never return bitch! My boss is not available to see people like you." She eyed me.
"What is going on here Fiona?!" Jayden's voice roared from behind us.
I moved close to him and hugged him.
"Hi dear."
"Thanks for coming darling. But what is going on here? Why didn't you come into the office? Are you picking a fight with my secretary?" Jayden asked holding me.
I looked at the Fiona girl whose face has turned red. I gave her a vengeful look, she still glared at me.
"She was picking a fight with me because I told her you were busy sir. I told her to tell me who she is but she refused." The shameless bitch lied.
My eyes widened in shock, "What? Are you now hiring professional liars as your employees? Wow, you've really got the nerves to lie to my face you bitch!"
Jayden looked from me to her, confused. The only person who is making him confused is this secretary.
"Calm down ladies. Can you tell me what really happened?"He asked again.
"You should ask your secretary that. She called me a slut just because I said I wanted to see you." I explained.
He turned to her fiercely, "You did what?!"
"She is a liar sir. I didn't-"
"Don't you have CCTV cameras here? Why don't we check that?" I cut her off folding my arms against my chest.
Her eyes widened in fear, she shook her head because she knows she has been caught already. She went down on her knees holding on to his legs. What a drama queen. One minute she was being all tough and rude, now she's acting like a child.
"What's all this Fiona! Get up immediately! You're suspended for three months!" He yelled angrily.
I gasped, "What?! No!"
Why does he like suspending everyone for every little offense? And when did I become so kind to people who do shit to me? I can't believe I'm changing so much.
He turned to me with a surprised look, "You are defending her?"
"I mean... It's nothing really. She was about to apologise when you came. Let's just go." I held his hand trying to pull him away.
"But..."
"Let's go. You talk too much." I dragged him off to the direction of his office. I looked back at Fiona who didn't look fierce like before, rather she had a grateful look.
He opened the door to his office and led me in. Then he shut the door and pulled me in for a kiss immediately, my bag almost fell from my hand.
"Jayden... This is your work place." I said in between the kiss.
"Who cares? I'm the boss remember?" He replied trying to kiss me while I dodged him.
I went to sit on the couch checking the office out. This place is wow, I mean it shows all over that Jayden has great taste. I wouldn't call this an office, more like a luxury parlor.
"I care. Anyone could come in. Besides I came to give you lunch not for me to become lunch."
He came to sit beside me, "I prefer having you for lunch."
I moved away from him, "Jayden, don't you dare..."
"Oh I will." He cut me off moving close to me till he caged me. He kissed me roughly before I could say anything else. His hands snaked round my body, I felt his hardness throbbing me. The door suddenly barged open making us break apart.
"Aaaaaaah!" The person screamed covering her face.
Jayden rolled his eyes and adjusted his shirt, while I blushed in embarrassment.
"I didn't see anything! I didn't see anything!! Oh gosh! My innocent mind." She cried looking away.
I wanted to laugh but I suppressed my laughter. She is acting really funny. I wonder who she is.
"Stop being a drama queen Samantha." Jayden said pulling me to himself.
She moved closer to us, I saw the resemblance between Jayden and her.
"Meet my sister Samantha. Samantha this is my girlfriend, Carla." He introduced.
She sat down beside me with a wide smile.
"I can't believe this. You're more beautiful than I imagined. Are you an angel? You're so pretty. You should have chosen someone who's as good looking as you are."
"Umm... Thanks a lot Samantha. It's nice to meet you too, you're also very pretty." I said unable to contain the shock. I thought she would be harsh on me like her sister Madeline. She turns out to be much nicer than I thought.
"And what are you insinuating Samantha? I am not worthy of Carla?" Jayden asked with a slight frown.
"No dear brother. Why would I say that? You are the handsomest and most beautiful man I've ever known... But you are not up to her beauty. Face it." She replied with a smirk.
Jayden's face turned red, I broke into a loud laughter unable to hold back any longer. He turned to me with a glare which only made me laugh more, Samantha also joined me in laughing.
"Wow. You both became friends just now and you're ganging up on me? This is why I prefer Madeline." He muttered angrily.
"Ignore my brother. That's how jealous he is. Also ignore Madeline, she and Jayden are both spoilt brats."
"SAMANTHA! One more word from you and I'll send you to Asia!" Jayden threatened glaring at us.
Asia? This is hilarious.
"Empty threats. You're just being jealous." Samantha stuck out her tongue at him.
Jayden came to pull me, "She's mine. You are not allowed to come close to her."
"Huh? She's a female Jayden." I told him.
"So? She is not allowed close to you, period!" He repeated.
Samantha rolled her eyes, they went to the table where I dropped my bag. She walked there and picked the bag, bringing out the lunch in the bag.
"Oh wow. I was about to ask you out for lunch but it seems I'm going to have this one." She licked her lips.
Jayden snatched the box from her, "Hell no Sam! This is mine! My girlfriend made this for me, you should go have lunch elsewhere."
"You're not going to share with me?" Samantha made a baby face.
"No." He replied bluntly.
"Come on, there's enough to go around." I told him.
"I know, but you made it for me. Only I will taste this." He said possessively.
"Please, pretty boy." Samantha pouted in a funny way, I can't help but laugh.
"Fine. You'll only have a little." He gave up, he's being so stingy when the food is enough to go round.
They both had the food, also making me eat with them. I find Samantha very kind and fun to be with. At least not all of his family hate me, that's a relief. She talked about meeting their mother. I don't think I'm ready for that yet. She may not like me, women like that are usually tough.
"What do you think of Samantha?" Jayden asked me after Samantha left for her friend's place.
I shrugged, "She's cute and sweet. Not to mention she's funny too."
He nodded, "Samantha is the angel of the family. She is quite different from Madeline and I. She's a sweet soul, even if she has a lot of issues."
I am confused, "Issues like what?"
"She has a hole in her heart. She was born with it, we have done a lot of surgeries for her. She has one last surgery to do, hopefully that would save her life." He explained.
Whoa. I wasn't expecting that. She looked so healthy and happy that no one would notice she has such a problem. He is right, she is such a sweet soul. My mind drifted to my own problem too.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know, you must be going through a lot." I replied not knowing what to say.
"I love her a lot, I wouldn't be able to bear it if anything happened to her. That's why I'm always trying to protect her. But she's too damn stubborn."
"You are very sweet. You aren't alone in this. She's going to be fine, I'm sure of it. When is her next surgery?"
"Next month. Hopefully, I'll be there for her." He replied.
I nodded, "It's alright."
I can't tell you anything Jayden. It's a secret I'll probably take to my grave. Even my best friend doesn't know anything about it and I hardly think about it. I just want to live my life to fullest. I may be gone in no time, but I will live my life with no regrets.
"What are you thinking about Carla?" He asked me.
"Nothing. I should probably leave now so you can focus on work. We'll talk later okay?"
He frowned, "Why do you have to leave now? We still haven't had our private lunch."
"Jayden! This is your office! What if your sister comes back or better still your mom? We'll talk about this 'lunch' later." I scolded him.
"This is not fair." He pouted.
"I'm sorry." I pecked his lips, "I have to go. I'll be waiting for you at home."
"Fine. See you later." He kissed me again before letting me go. I saw he's still erected and laughed. I left the office after blowing him a kiss. I saw his secretary on my way out.
"I'm sorry." She said making me stop.
"You don't have to." I replied.
"Thank you for saving my job." She said again.
I sighed, "You're welcome." I left her and entered the elevator.
I left the building and boarded a cab back home. Joyce is not back from work yet, I went to my room to lay down. My heart is breaking thinking about what Jayden told me earlier. What will he do if he finds out I also have a hole in my heart? I've done surgery once but it wasn't removed yet. I haven't gone back since then, I gave up.
But now I want to live, for Jayden. I shouldn't give up then.
