Chapter 26
CARLA
He hugged me. I can't get that out of my head since I came back from the jog. He's been acting weird all morning. I suddenly don't understand him anymore.
First, he defended me in front of his sister and ex girlfriend. Then he gives me weird looks and hugs me. He hasn't said a word to me after hugging me. I wanna know what's going through his mind.
Why is he suddenly acting like this and making me so confused?
I came out of the shower wearing the towel as usual. He was seated at the dining table wearing a sleeveless top that shows all his body features.
I wonder how a billionaire like him made time to go to the gym even with all the work cut out for him.
To my surprise, he has the table set for me already.
"Breakfast is served. You wanna change or you wanna have it like this?" He asked, his tone a bit flirty this time.
Great. I already knows what he wants when he is like that. Sadly, my body wants him too.
"You bet I do." I replied seductively.

Jayden went out to some meeting they were holding. I feel bored. I decided to take a stroll, maybe run into Beatrice again.
I feel guilty thinking of her again. I didn't say goodbye to her at the party again, and I still don't know where she is. I don't have her contact information either.
I'll just get it from Jayden later. They're so close, he should have it.
Another guilty conscience flooded my mind, Joyce. I haven't been calling her.
She doesn't call me too. She must be disappointed and offended. I feel like I'm such a bad friend. She would never do this to me if it were to be her.
I decided to call her. She picked up almost immediately.
"Oh you finally decided to call your best friend!!!" She yelled almost breaking my eardrums.
"Joyce calm down. I'm so sorry okay, I've been so busy." I apologized.
I heard her laugh. That's because I mentioned being busy. The trouble I'm going through here is enough for me to be busy.
"Busy?!" She laughed, "Please Carla. You're not the one there on business. Or have you decided to invest your money?"
That's funny. As much as I think about it, it's a great idea. I only don't have any idea of business and what it takes. If only Jayden could help me out.
"A lot has been going on Joyce. From Jayden's ex girlfriend to his sister. I've gotten myself fresh enemies. His sister hates me."
She scoffed, "What? Did you kick their asses? Who does that bitch think she is to judge my bestie so quickly? Do I need to take a leave and come over there?"
I ended up laughing.
"You don't need to Joyce. Jayden... he actually defended me. The way he did it was kinda confusing though, like he wanted to protect me at all costs."
I can imagine her grinning like an idiot now.
"Hmm. You sound so happy. I shouldn't be worried about you then. But if their asses needs kicking, I'm right here." She offered.
"By the way, how are things between you two?"
"Awkward. I feel stranger than before. A feeling I've never experienced before, I don't understand."
"A feeling like you desire to be with him so much that you want him all for yourself?" She asked.
I nodded like she was there. She got it right.
"Yes. Strange huh?"
I heard a giggle. Is she making fun of me or what?
"Bestie. You're falling in love!" She screamed.
What? No!
•••••
I can't get my mind off the conversation I had with Joyce. She tried convincing me that I'm in love but I refused to believe it. How am I supposed to believe that?
I have never fallen in love all these years. Why would I be now? How can I even fall in love in such a short time? It's not possible, I can never fall in love.
"Watch it beautiful." Someone told me.
I realized I bumped into him without knowing, due to my deep thoughts. I recognized him immediately, he's Nelly. Jayden's best friend and the talented designer.
"Um. I'm sorry, I was thinking about something. I didn't notice you." I apologized.
He smiled, revealing his dimples.
"That's not a problem. Are you headed somewhere?"
"No. Taking a stroll to kill the boredom."
He nodded. "Then can I invite you for lunch? I was about to get something."
I can't say no. He is asking so nicely, but everytime I think about Jayden. He might get mad at his friend for having lunch with me. He is always getting the wrong idea so it might be quite a waste to talk to him.
Screw him. I'm going to go. I can't let him take control of my life like he owns me.
"Sure. Let's go." I smiled.
He took my hand in his and led me to the restaurant. We found a private place to seat, and ordered our meals.
"I see why Jay can't take his eyes off you. You are quite a beautiful lady." He complimented me.
I blushed a bit, but hid it quickly.
"I'm not as beautiful as his ex girlfriend. He's got good taste I see." I replied.
He raised a brow amused. Then he smiled like he understood what is happening.
"You want to know about his ex girlfriend right?"
I nodded out of curiosity. Immediately regretting it, because he might see me as a nosy person. He knows the truth about Jay and I right?
"I'll tell you about her. She's the first and only girl he's ever loved. He loved her so much in high school that he could do anything for her. I mean anything." He started.
Sounds like they share a great bond. Feeling like the third wheel already, it's jealousy.
"He'd do anything for Davina until she messed things up. Turns out she never loved him. She was duping him till his last drop of sweat and eventually left him for the other man. That broke Jayden so much, he refused to love again."
Wow. That's why he's so mad at her. I feel bad for him. I guess he must have gone through a tough time at that young age. She did worse things in the past, and she's bold enough to think she can judge me.
"Will you look at that?" I said inwardly.
I suddenly wanna rip her hair off and push her far away from Jayden. She's found out he's rich and came back to do more damage. I don't think she repented. She's a vicious snake.
"You seem to be having troubles with Davina right?" He asked.
I nodded like an idiot.
"I understand you. Jayden has never looked at a woman for this long or kept them at all. There's something special about you that gives him that hope. But then, he's too scared to admit anything. He doesn't want to go through the same thing over again." He explained.
My eyes widened in shock. By any chance, is he saying that Jayden is... No way. I'm just thinking out loud like an idiot. Jayden only wants my body, that's all.
"I don't know what to say." I drank more.
He smiled, "Your eyes are sparkling. It's a good sign you're interested in someone. Is that person my friend?"
My eyes are sparkling? Oh great. Now I have sparkly eyes and it means I'm interested in someone. I'm interested in almost everyone, since I'm shameless right?
I ate up in silence without saying a word. I got up almost immediately after eating with a smile.
"I should head back now. Jayden must be back already." I informed him.
"Now I feel so jealous. Jayden's looking at all this beauty for free. Sounds very unfair." He pouted.
I laughed nervously.
"Um. Please stop flattering me."
"Hm. We'll see later huh? Then you'll tell me who you're interested in. If it's not my friend, I'll be happy to break their heads."
