Chapter 21

CARLA
(Continued)
We walked to the midst of the people, all eyes on us even though they're all acting like they are minding their businesses. They are clearly not. I don't feel too uncomfortable knowing I'm with Jayden at least.
While introducing me to the his partners and associates, I secretly searched around for Beatrice. I haven't seen her all day. I did tell her my suite number, though I don't know hers. I feel so stupid and guilty, she was so nice to me and I didn't bother to know more about her.
If Jayden hadn't taken me away yesterday then I'd know more. We finally left these group of people for another group. Luckily Beatrice is here and she looks lovely.
She's wearing a black dress with very lovely designs. Both her jewelry and accessories are looking great, with the hair and make up. It's obvious her husband is very wealthy too.
"Carla! It's so good to see you!" She smiled happily and hugged me.
"Same here Beatrice. Hello." I reciprocated.
I greeted her husband and the other couple standing with them. Beatrice seems to know a lot of people. I haven't seen Jerry around or Jayden's friend of yesterday. Why am I thinking of them anyway?
"Whoa. I never knew this dress would look this perfect on you. You look like an angel." He said joining us, Jayden's friend.
I smiled nervously, "Um. Thanks. You look good too."
Jayden snorted when I said that. I guess he's jealous I complemented his friend and not him. Whatever.
"Are you saying you made this dress for her?" The other lady asked.
He nodded, "Yes sweetie pie. I did."
I looked at Jayden confused. His friend is a fashion designer?
"Oh wow. Can you make me one too? She's looking gorgeous."
He shrugged, "Fashion design is just a hobby of mine but I'll do it since you're asking."
She squealed excited, "Thank you."
He's quite talented if this is just a hobby for him. Even some great designers can't do this.
"Thank you..."
"Nelly."
"Sorry, Nelly. Thank you. I love the dress, you're very talented. You'll do great in the fashion industry."
He almost choked on his drink when I said that. Did I say something wrong?
"Nelly are you okay?" Beatrice asked.
"Sorry about that. I just remembered something." He said and rushed off.
What's up with him? He looks like I said something I shouldn't have said.
"Babe, I have to go say hi to a few people. I'll be back alright." Jayden pecked me and left.
Beatrice took my hand, "Since our partners are saying hi to everyone, why don't we just find a spot to sit while waiting for them?"
"Sure." I need it. I am already tired of standing and greeting boring people.
We went to a table and sat there. Beatrice gave me all the gists of the night. All the people who came, she told me about them in a funny way that I ended up laughing hard.
"Hey my love. Mr and Mrs Smith wants to see what see you. Can you excuse us a moment Carla?" Damien asked.
I nodded, "Of course. Feel free."
"I'll be right back." Beatrice said getting up.
She followed her husband, I simply took a drink from the waiters and sipped quietly.
"If it isn't the bitch who's flirting around with my man." I heard that familiar annoying voice of yesterday.
She is holding a drink, giving me hateful looks.
"You again?" I scoffed, "Don't you get tired of doing this same thing over and over everyday? You're beginning to look like a desperate housewife."
Her face turned tomato red. Oh dear, she's angry. I'm so scared, note the sarcasm.
"You desperate whore! How dare you say that about me?! I warned you to stay away from-"
"Jayden is my boyfriend and not yours. He never told me about you so stop giving yourself high hopes. If he fucked you for one night, I know he would have paid you well."
She gasped, fuming.
"Jayden is quite a man, I know. He's every woman's dream, it's understandable you're coming back for more. But, don't be so desperate. He is mine."
It felt good to say that. Don't understand why though, but it feels good.
"You damn-" She raised her hand to slap me, was stopped by another hand.
It's Jerry. He's actually here, and he's is looking breathtaking. Why are all the men looking so good tonight?
"Hey let me go!" She yelled trying to free herself.
"Don't even think about touching her." He warned calmly.
"Well this is not over yet! Hmph." She stomped away.
Such a drama queen. Fighting over what is not yours.
"Are you okay?" Jerry asked.
I nodded with a smile, "Yes I am. Thank you very much."
He sat down, "You are most welcome. Who is she anyway? Why was she bothering you?"
"She is a crazy bitch I don't know, she is just jealous of me." I replied.
He accepted, his eyes full of glamour. He is indeed a good looking man, almost every man I have seen this evening is.
"You look amazing by the way. What's your secret to looking this beautiful everyday? I could use it you know."
I giggled, "Stop with the flattery Jerry. I'm just like every other girl in this hall."
His brow raised, he looked around then back to me.
"I don't see every other girl looking like you. Have you noticed they are all looking at you instead?"
How's that possible? He's just flattering me. That's what I thought till I looked around and found most eyes on me. I suddenly don't like the attention I'm getting.
"They must all like the dress. I also think it's very beautiful." I diverted the attention nervously.
"They all actually love the beauty behind the dress. You're stunning." He commented sincerely.
That actually made me blush and a bit uncomfortable. I could only manage a smile. Jerry's doing a great job at making me feel this way which is quite strange from what I had thought.
"What do you think about the party? You don't seem too happy to be here."
How does he seem to know how I feel everytime? He's such a predictive and studious person.
"To be honest, this party is great. But then it's not the kind of party I'm used to. I love being at the club, this is not my taste at all." I whispered carefully.
He chuckled softly.
"I know that already. That's why I guessed you're bored. Would you like to dance? It seems your date won't be coming for you anytime soon. I could use that opportunity to steal you from him." He offered.
I looked around for Jayden, unluckily he's nowhere to be seen.
"So, what do you say? You're free to say no. I won't put you in a spot." He asked again.
Jayden left me to have fun all by himself. He knows I'm not used to these parties and I know no one here. Still he left me alone, I shouldn't let him ruin my night.
"You're right. Let's go dance." I smiled.
He took my hand and led me to the dance floor. A slow music was playing, I put my hand on his shoulder, he held me by my waist. My gaze is now focused on his face, I completely forgot why we're here.
"You're gonna need a new pair of toes." I warned him.
"Don't worry. I'm prepared for anything." He replied confidently.
I am not a good dancer. I might probably crush all his toes by the time we'll be done dancing. But I danced with him anyway, I actually kinda like it. I haven't danced with anyone this way, I love how it feels.
