CHAPTER TWELVE
AVRIL
A big thud was heard as Sally crashed to the floor and sustained an injury as a result of the force I used to push her.
Her ankle was bleeding.
I felt really bad for Sally but she started it, so she got what she deserved.
I looked down at my feet, my socks were torn as a result of the claws I had grown... I immediately raised my fingers to see if I still had claws thank goodness they were gone.
I immediately regretted my actions and bent towards Sally to help her up.
"I am sorry", I said trying to help Sally up but she slapped me.
"What is wrong with you Sally!" I barked at her kneeling beside her. I placed my hand close to the bleeding part.
"Take your filthy hands off me!" She hit my hands off forcefully.
"Why are you being so difficult? Why not put an end to all these?"
"You traitor! You bitch!" She barked hitting my hands off her body.
"You know what Sally, I don't care anymore, I do not...."
Sally didn't let me finish, she spat at my face.
I slapped Sally three times and turned around to leave. Sally pulled my hair and dragged me down.
The whole class started shouting excitedly, some asking us to continue while others tried to separate us.
One of the students ran outside and returned with the discipline master.
The students were shocked to their marrow as it was written all over their faces. This was the first time anyone would see me angry in the five years I'd spent at Young Talents High School.
CHRIS
"I am exhausted", Andrew said and went to sit on a stool.
"Is this how we are going to win?" Daniel asked Andrew who winked at him in return.
Daniel stopped playing the keyboard, closed its lid and walked up to Andrew.
"You're such a lazy ass", Daniel said sitting beside Andrew.
"Just say it, you also want to rest. Stop trying to form the hard guy. Chris is the only one who doesn't need rest", Andrew teased.
"Says who? Chris probably needs rest as well, he is only pretending", Daniel said sarcastically and we all laughed.
I placed my violin on a table close to the Daniels guilter and walked towards the boys. I took my seat as well and smiled broadly facing them both.
"I am not tired neither do I need rest, it's the both of you who do", I said and they laughed.
"Admit it, Chris, you also want to have some rest. You are only pretending, if not why didn't you insist we continue just like other times", Daniel replied.
"Ahan!! Now we caught him. Who knows if he was also pretending all those days", Andrew said.
"That's a lying guy, I am never tired and always ready for anything", Chris said.
The boys laughed heartily at me and I stared at them with scorn.
"Now we caught you and you are mute, you can't even defend yourself," Daniel said mockingly.
I punched him and we started hitting each other.
We laughed heartily.
"Do about Avril, you still haven't said anything to us. You just smile all the time especially when you're talking to her over the phone", Daniel said.
"Can we talk about Avril some other time?" I replied scratching my head.
"No we want to hear about it right away", Daniel insisted placing his hand on my shoulder.
"Uhm.." I shrugged "please some other time", I insisted.
"No no", Daniel and Andrew chorused.
"Yes," I replied.
"No!" They repeated in unison.
Andrew stood up and came to sit beside me placing me in between himself and Andrew... He was seated at the extreme before then. He sat after Daniel.
"Now tell us", he said rubbing his palm together.
"Yes tell us", Daniel replied and joined him in rubbing his palms together.
They were both rubbing their palms together and smiling sheepishly.
"Okay fine", I said.
I cleared my throat, exhaled deeply and began.
"I and Avril have been dating for a while now", I said.
"I knew it!" Daniel exclaimed excitedly.
"Wait so she agreed to date you?" Andrew asked.
"Yea Yea, I told you boys right?" I boasted.
"So you finally stole our girl? Every boy's dream girl", Andrew said pretending to be angry.
I elbowed him and we both laughed.
"I am happy for you", Daniel said and hugged me.
"All I want is to be your best man at your wedding, hurry up and start up the wedding preparations", Andrew said.
"Who said I was going to marry her......."
"Wait what? Do you just want to play with her feelings and dump her like other girls? I should have known. I am sure going to take her from you and make her my wife. I can't let you hurt Avril", Andrew said and I elbowed him.
"That was not what I was about to say. I only said I wasn't going to marry..."
"Hey, Daniel did you hear that?" Andrew asked.
Daniel chuckled and replied, "l did".
"Okay fine let's allow him to finish his statement", Andrew said and punched me gently on my chest.
"I only said I wasn't going to marry her right away, who is talking about marriage right now?" I asked.
Andrew was about to tease me once again when someone walked in to invite me to the principal's office.
I stood up and walked away leaving my friends behind.
AVRIL
"Fighting in school?" My dad asked angrily.
My parents and Sally's parents were invited to the school.
My parents had to take the next available flight back to the States.
I was sad, my parents only travelled for a few weeks and I created such a mess. They showered me with so much love and gave me all I ever asked for but this was what I did in return.
"I am sorry dad", I said sadly lowering my face to the ground.
"You should be, this wasn't how we raised you!" My dad was fired.
I couldn't control myself again as I started sobbing slowly.
The school had dismissed for the day, students had been reduced only a few were left and the ones that had rehearsals.
Chris's parents walked into the office wearing a very angry looks.
'why were they here?' I thought my heart beating continuously.
They exchanged pleasantries with my parents, the Principal Mr Daniel and Suzy's parents Mr and Mrs Andrew.
They took their seats beside Mr and Mrs Andrew.
Chris walked into the office wearing no facial expressions.
"You are glad now, at least we left our business to fix your shit again", Mr Hoffman said to Chris as he walked in.
"It's a good thing, you wouldn't come if it wasn't something wrong", Chris replied angrily.
His father struck him with a deadly look. I felt way too guilty.
"It's all my fault sir, I am sorry", I said turning to Mr Hoffman.
"We all know the consequences of fighting in the school, suspension or expulsion", Mr Daniel began.
"We are sorry", Sally finally spoke up.
I knew Sally wasn't sorry.
"I am sorry", I said giving Sally a glance.
"I don't know why Chris is here, he has no hand in this", I added.
"But you both had a clash in the first place because of him?" Mr Daniel asked.
"It's not because of him, I don't know about Sally, I only retaliated when she hit me. You can ask other students she kept getting on my nerves".
Sally lowered her face without saying a word.
"Now you are mute? You know how your mom and I struggled to get you into this school, you know it very well how your mom and I are struggling to give you the best education yet you go around causing trouble?" Mr Andrew shouted angrily.
"I am so sorry dad", Sally wiped her tears.
Sally's parents weren't exactly wealthy, they struggled really hard to send Sally to school.
"I will have to spare you all, I just want your parents to be aware so that when next something like this repeats itself I'd take action and will not be held responsible", Mr Daniel said.
"Thank you, sir" I and Sally chorused.
"But you will have to work in the fields or clean the school surrounding for a week to serve as a lesson to others that will like to follow your steps", he added.
"My daughter has never touched a chore, she can't work in the fields or clean up anything", my mom pleaded.
"I'd listen to you on only one condition", Mr Daniel said.
"I am ready to do anything", my mom replied.
The environment was getting more heated up. Sally was staring at me with scorn and I didn't care. I felt like a princess being defended by her queen.
I winked at Sally who rolled her eyes at me. Although I didn't know what the principal wanted I knew my mom would do whatever it was to save me the shame and stress.
