The school's break

CHAPTER TWENTY _ FIVE
AVRIL
Chris didn't say if we were back together or not, I wondered still staring at Chris. What if I was just like other girls he toiled with in the past?
Dad cleared his throat into the mic bringing me back to reality.
"Once again I welcome everyone to my daughter's success party", he started indicating he already gave a speech earlier.
"Jumai had always made me proud from the very first day she set foot into my house, I have never for once regretted having her as my daughter. So since she had made us proud it's time for us to make you proud. No one said anything about it, and I fixed the party today on purpose because it's Jumai's 23rd birthday".
Dad paused as everyone started clapping and cheering... Yes, we all said nothing about the birthday, we all pretended to have forgotten I left out this information on purpose because dad and mom had a surprise planned for Jumai on this day, although we didn't know what it was.
Dad waited for the cheers and words of congratulations and happy birthday that were heard from every angle of the room.
Jumai was smiling gracefully as she sat with all grace and honour in a VIP seat in front of us all. She wore a red flowery gown that covered the entire floor where she sat, Jumai's favourite colour is red and she picked this dress, especially for this occasion. Mom and dad had taken her to the best tailor in California so she could pick a material and select the best style, Jumai didn't choose any style from the calendar she told mom what she wanted and mom drew it for her while the tailor-made the dress.
This reminded me again of Jumai's 18th birthday party, it was the biggest and most colourful event I had ever seen, even more, colourful than this.
Dad gifted Jumai a brand new bike, a gold chain with 2 million dollars and a bracelet with his initials and her name on it.
After the noise in the room had died down dad continued with his speech.
"Jumai told me last week that I had helped her achieve almost all her dreams so I am going to help her achieve all of them right away. Jumai", Dad called and she stood up still smiling.
"These are the documents to your nursing school and your clinic and pharmaceutical. The address and every other information you need to know is right there in the documents, enough staff have also been employed and placed under salary in the Williams group of companies since you will be running a semi-charity organisation and may not be able to raise enough fund to pay them well, everything is already in place all you have to do is resume work at your office tomorrow. You have the right to change whatever you want including the employees since the company belongs to you".
Jumai had already soaked her clothes with tears by the time dad finished talking, the whole crowd cheered and clapped.
I was astonished and I also saw the surprise on Ariel's face. I made up my mind to also make mom and dad proud.
Jumai rushed to dad and hugged him passionately still shedding tears of joy.
Mom also was smiling gracefully, I could see so much happiness on her face and her lips as they moved.

"Thank you so much mom, I never expected all this, thank you so so much mom and dad I love you both so much", Jumai said hugging mom.
She held mom's hand to the stage and stood in between her and dad. She picked up the mic and started.
"Thank you so much everyone for honouring my invitation and gracing this occasion with your irreplaceable presence. I want to thank the best mom and the best dad in this world, what would I have done without them?" Jumai sniffed and mom helped her wipe her face using her face towel.
"Mom, Dad", Jumai said turning to each person as she called their names, she held their hands in hers.
"I love you both so so much and will never trade it for anything else in this world. I will never disappoint you, I will continue to make you proud", Jumai placed the mic on the pulpit.
Mom, Jumai and dad walked down the podium while the crowd cheered and clapped for them.
Refreshments were served with loud music playing in the background.
Jumai's party was graced by dignitaries. senators, top lawyers, governors, ministers, the president's wife and his representative were also in attendance. Although I can't start listing them all to give you an idea of the kind of people who graced the occasion.
I and Ariel couldn't wait for our 18th birthday to finally come.

CHRIS
Things went back to normal as I and Avril were cool once again.
I couldn't forget the look on her face when she asked me about our status.
Avril and Ariel also told me about their plans to find a substance to extract the warewolf blood from ours. I had doubted it'd work for me especially since I have been a warewolf for years, even if it did for Ariel it may not work for me I still had a very strong doubt it'd work at all.
There was one more thing that still baffled me, the people who attacked our school, nothing was said about them, and no one heard any news about them not even from the school authorities... Only a few students gossiped in low tones about the incident and it wasn't mentioned during the assembly and I couldn't help but wonder why.
The final exams would be coming to an end soon and I was sure going to miss Avril. Seeing her every day was a blessing in my life and it also made my Saturdays and Sundays very boring.
Avril and I became the envy of the school. Guys who wanted Avril were jealous of me while the girls who wanted me were jealous of Avril.
Ariel still hasn't given us his blessings yet he didn't stop Avril from seeing me, he just decided to let us off his hook even though he still stared at me with scorn whenever I was with Avril.

We finally wrote the final exams for the term, students were excited some were sad because they were going to miss their friends, especially those who do not visit their school friends.
I had mixed feelings, the break was the best time for me and my friends to practice music without seizing.
Avril walked up to me wearing a sad face, I was packing my bag and getting ready to go to her.
"Hello dear, why are you looking so sad and pale?" I asked Avril and hugged her.
"I am going to miss you so much", Avril replied still hugging me.
"I am going to miss you as well, but I'd visit you often okay?"
"But you can't even visit me every day, I'm still going to get bored without you", Avril replied and pulled away from me slowly. I placed my hands on her waist while she placed hers on my shoulder.
"I will call you every day, we are going to chat on a daily basis and video call is there as well", I said.
"It's still not the same", she replied still wearing a sad face.
I exhaled and placed my palms on her chin
"It's a short break, just 3 weeks and we are back to school, besides we are going to get used to it".
Avril hugged me again more tightly this time, she pulled away slowly and for the first time since we started dating, she kissed me first.
I was really shocked when Avril's lips met mine.
I didn't hesitate to kiss her back, we were both engrossed in the passionate kiss not minding our environment when Sally walked into the classroom clapping her hands.
"Look who we have here", she said smiling devilishly still clapping her hands.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her pulling Avril behind me.
"I am sure you don't hit women because I am here to iron things out with this... This thing you can your girlfriend", Sally said and chuckled.
"You dare not talk to me that way you child of a pig!" Avril fired at her, she let out a loud approach of laughter.
"Don't mind her, do not respond let's just leave", I said calming Avril down.
"Why? You want to run away with your looser girlfriend because you know that she can't win over me?" Sally asked and smiled to the corner of her lip.
"Lame!" She added still grinning.
"Avril let's go", I said and held Avril's right hand dragging her with me out of the class...
We came to a halt forcefully and I turned around to see what made Avril stop. Sally had dragged her and was holding firmly her other hand.
"Where do you think you are going to?" Sally asked wearing scorn. She had this wicked look on her face.
I turned to Avril and she looked up into my eyes... Although Avril is slightly talk I was way taller.
"Where in the hell do you think you are going to?" Sally asked again taking two steps forward.
