Avril's mind is poisoned.
CHAPTER FIFTY TWO
AVRIL
"It hasn't gotten to that you know", Jumai said as she took the phone gently and romantically from him.
"What do you mean by that? Do you want me to loose my job?" He asked as he stared lustfully at Jumai's lips that she curled to a corner and then she bit her lower lips.
"We don't want any form of trouble, we can keep this between us. Return the kid back to the prison please and act like nothing happened", she said.
I was shocked to my marrows that he did exactly as Jumai had asked without any hesitation.
Ariel, Jumai and I returned to the room disappointed that things didn't go as planned.
"But how did he not eat the food? I thought you served everyone with it?" Ariel asked Jumai.
"I too was shocked, I can remember serving him the same rice. I remember vividly", she defended.
"I will be in my room", Ariel said and stood up.
He had this special signal he usually gave whenever he wanted to speak to me privately and I understood it immediately.
"I will also be in my room", I said.
I stood up and followed after Ariel, Jumai came to lock the door and didn't even give me a good night hug as usual. She was probably to sad, the way things had turned out wasn't fair enough, nobody in her position would be happy.
I followed Ariel to his room and sat on his bed, my ears were itching to hear what he wanted to say.
"Who served the food?" He asked and I giggled, I didn't know why though, I just did.
"We all know it was Jumai who prepared and served the food right?" I replied.
"Good, who knows exactly where the security guard at Chris's post keeps his key?" Ariel asked and I wondered why he was asking too many weird questions, I just had no option than to reply him.
"Jumai and I", I replied and Ariel nodded. "But why all these weird questions?" I asked.
"How do you think the keys to Chris's lock disappeared without trace? Who else knows where it is? Who served the food and why was the security guard left out? Do you think this is a coincidence? Think about it Avril, think about it", Ariel said yet I didn't get where exactly he was driving at, and what exactly he meant.
"Ariel what do you mean?" I asked.
"Can't you read the handwriting on the wall? You can't figure it by yourself?" He asked and I shook my head, I was getting impatient.
"You still need a sooth sayer to tell you? Jumai is not on our side, can't you see that? She hates the werewolf race so much and would never help you out, you think she would help you? Seriously? After what they did to her family? Come on dear you have to open your eyes", Ariel said and I shook my head in disagreement.
"Jumai is not that kind of person, when she was angry with me, she told me and showed it. If she was that bad why haven't she told mom and dad about my identity yet?" I asked.
"She's probably saving the information for a bigger win. Who informed them about where Chris and Tyson met? I saw Jumai locking around your room on that same day. She only apologized to you so she could get closer, she knows it for a fact that she can only hurt you if she is close to you. She feed everyone with the food but had informed the guard specially about our mission, the same Jumai hid the keys", Ariel insisted and I shook my head.
"I don't believe you Ariel", I said.
"Wow! Then do you have another explanation then? Tell me if you do please", he replied. "Some one tell me I'm not crazy", he added.
I placed my hands on my chin and thought it through, looking at it from another perspective, he was actually right.
"Do you really think Jumai would do that?" I asked, Ariel unable to believe Jumai would do such a thing.
"I don't know, I will just give you time to process it, do think about it dear. It'd help for sure", Ariel replied.
I hugged him, kissed him goodnight and returned to my room.
I couldn't sleep after hearing such thing about Jumai. I decided to see Tyson, he was the only one that would be able to help me at this point.
I waited patiently for the morning and went to Tyson's house.
"Good morning Tyson", I greeted on getting to his house and he let me inside the house and shut the door afterwards.
"I want to discuss something important with you Tyson", I said as I settled in his house. He served me a soft drink, I didn't have the appetite to drink anything neither was I thirsty, I decided to go straight to the point and not beat around the bush.
Tyson listened to me carefully and I narrated the whole incident to him.
"Do you really want to know the truth Avril? It is going to hurt but you have to hear it", Tyson said.
"Tell me, I want to hear it", I said.
"Ariel was right, but he hid some useful information from you", Tyson said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Do you know it before now that Ariel doesn't like Chris?" Tyson asked and I nodded.
"How did you know that?" I asked him.
"Isn't it obvious?" Tyson asked and I nodded, he was actually right.
"Jumai and Ariel had planned Chris arrest, they wanted I and Chris to get arrested, I would be dead by now if they had caught me, but I had quickly gone to get water when your parents arrived and took Chris, I asked my friend to help me and track Ariel's phone, he was contacting your parents the whole time, they wanted Chris out of your life. Jumai does not actually have a problem with Chris, her problem is with you and so her hatred for werewolves", Tyson concluded and I was completely shocked.
Their was no need for Tyson to lie to me, plus everything he had just said was obvious, he had a very good point. Jumai and Ariel were working together and then pretending they hated each other. I detested them for putting Chris's life at stake for their own selfish interest.
"Jumai will also call you to tell you it's Ariel, and give you facts. Do not listen to her, they are only trying to confuse you the more so you would not know they are working together. Just make sure not to confront them, find a way to get Chris out without involving them and watch yourself succeed", he concluded.
"What have I done to deserve such heartless siblings?" I asked as tears began to roll down cheeks freely.
Tyson hugged me, he caressed my shoulder softly and placed his head on mine.
I felt so betrayed and was ready to blast Jumai and Ariel immediately I got home, I would not smile with them about this one bit.
"I will just go home", I said calmly to Tyson as I freed myself from his tight embrace.
"You have to be very careful with your siblings, do not confront them to be on a safer side, but do not also involve them in your plans, I am leaving this place also as soon as possible, because I am sure very soon he would bring your parents here to get me", Tyson said and I smiled.
I did smile, but it was only from my lips and not my heart, I was wounded from within. I have never felt so betrayed all my life, it was really hard to believe yet it was true.
I walked into the house and met Jumai and Ariel playing the ludo game and laughing happily, I stopped at the spot and began deliberating, wether or not I should confront them.
