CHAPTER TWENTY _ THREE
CHRIS
The shouts of joy and happiness have now turned into shouts of pain and fear.
I jerked up from my seat as I heard what seemed like Avril's voice from the back.
I ran towards the direction I heard the shout ignoring my friends' constant calls, they chased after me as they noticed they wouldn't be able to stop me only by shouting.
They wanted to protect me from danger, they thought I was human.
I saw some unknown figures attacking the students, some humans held guns and were taking students forcefully and locking them up in a cave in a brown van that was parked in a corner of the school.
I purposely ran into a crowded corner so they would miss me, I was able to confuse them as I ran towards my lock... I brought out a change of clothes and changed my clothes immediately.
I wore black trousers with black sleeves and a black hoodie.
I covered my face with the cap...
"Arrrhgh.......!" I groaned loudly as I transformed into a warewolf... I felt my claws and fangs grow.
I snarled, tilting my head backwards and then forward.
I rushed outside, some students were already fighting.
I joined in the fight, the unknown figures that looked like giraffes cross breed with tigers seemed to be immortals...
Pistols, wood and even the guns that were taken from the armed human attackers couldn't pierce them or injure them. The battle was a very tough one, they had taken a pretty much number of students into their cave, and women were the top target as only about 3 boys were taken.
I sighted Avril in disguise, only I knew she was the one. I noticed her in one glance, she was fighting with all her strength. She was indeed a great warrior.
I had mountain ash, I went with it anyway and everywhere.
With the help of the mountain Ash, I was able to kill most of the unknown figures... I made them open their mouth and poured the content in.
Most students were injured yet we weren't ready to back down. Some students were also dropping dead as a result of the bullets that were being scattered all over the building.
Most teachers and students found their escape routes while others hid in classes and possibly hideouts, only the brave ones stayed behind to fight.
As I fought I searched for my friends with my eyes, I also stole glances at Avril. I was amazed at her bravery.
I later sighted my friends Andrew and Daniel. Daniel held a gun in his hands backing Andrew who held a machete, the sight was funny yet outstanding. I saw bravery and I was proud of my friends.
I saw one of the unknown figures hit Daniel hard on the neck, Daniel fell to the ground without screaming. I rushed to him, killed the unknown figure and carried Daniel on my shoulder.
I needed to bring him to safety.
I sneaked out of the fighting ground, I got to a safe block still carrying Daniel on my shoulder... One of the rooms caught my attention, it was the school's sick bay.
The door was locked but the key was outside, that was the school's sick bay, the nurse must have left his key behind while running to safety.
I opened the door and took the key as I walked into the office, I closed the door and fixed the key in the keyhole. I turned the key trice... When I was sure we were safe I proceeded to lie to Daniel on a couch in the office.
I lay him faced down...
Daniel's neck was bleeding, he was unconscious.
I opened the freezer and brought out ice, I placed it under his feet.
I rushed back to the first aid box, I cleaned Daniels's neck the best way I could. By this time my eyes were already normal, I no longer had fangs and claws.
He had a deep scratch on his neck, I examined it carefully and exhaled deeply. It was nothing too serious after all.
I did everything I could to revive Daniel but it was proving more difficult than I thought.
My mind flashed back to the fight. 'I hope they are okay, I hope Avril is fine', I thought.
I couldn't leave Daniel alone, I didn't want to, I wasn't sure if it was safe to leave him all by himself, especially in this unconscious state.
After many trials, I was able to revive Daniel...
He shook his fingers, then he coughed gently.
"Shhh", I said placing my pointer on my lips.
"We are save now, you are safe", I added and Daniel smiled weakly.
"Thank you so much", Daniel said.
"Anything for my best friend", I replied and bent over to hug him.
"Where is Andrew?" Daniel asked me.
"He is still on the battlefield being a warrior", I replied and Daniel smiled.
"You have to go back to them, they need you now", Daniel said to me.
"But... But I can't leave you like this", I said.
"They need you more Chris, Avril needs you. I am okay and I am in a safe room. Nothing is going to happen to me" Daniel insisted.
"Are you sure you are okay here?" I asked Daniel.
"Yes please, go to them, go to Avril for I will be fine", he replied.
I made him lie properly on the couch and ran out.

AVRIL
I was getting exhausted, and my energy was draining, but I didn't want to give up. I was happy about one thing we weren't losing.
I didn't kill a single soul during the fight but I gave assistance, I weakened our attackers while other students killed them.
I looked around to ensure Ariel was okay, at first I didn't see him. My heart skipped a bit.
"Ariel", I called out weakly.
I sighted Ariel and exhaled deeply...
"Oh! There he is, thank goodness!" I exclaimed holding my chest. I almost thought he had been captured.
Just then one of the human attackers jumped on Ariel with a machete.. Ariel crashed to the floor with a big thud while the attacker raised his machete to cut off Ariel's head.
"Ariel....!" I screamed and rushed to his rescue.
I scratched his back roughly with my claws, his back started bleeding.
He was still for a moment and fell to the floor, one of the students stabbed him thrice in the belly...
"Ariel, are you okay?" I asked giving him my right hand to use as support.
"Yes, thanks to you", Ariel replied taking my hand.
"My goodness I was scared out of my ass, I thought something bad would happen to you. How will I be able to live without you?" I said.
"I am untouchable, nothing can happen to me", Ariel boasted beating his chest.
"Watch out Ariel!" I heard one of the students scream. I raised my head and saw someone approaching me with a machete.
Ariel dragged me to himself and the attacker fell on his stomach, the knife pierced his stomach shooting out from the back.
"Eeww", I said in disgust at the sight.
I heard Sally's scream, she has been captured by one of the attackers, and she was being dragged roughly towards the cave.
"Sally.......!" I screamed rushing to her rescue.
I had to stop them before they got to the van... I held the attacker and dragged him roughly backwards.
We were both struggling with Sally but I have been able to drag them far away from the van.
I was still trying to rescue Sally when a bullet landed on my arm, I paused for a while and continued dragging Sally, just then another bullet hit my back and I lost balance, I let out a loud shriek.

CHRIS
Getting to the battleground Avril was the first person I searched for but she was nowhere to be found.
The human attackers saw that they were losing the fight and decided to run away... They rushed into their car making attempt to leave with the students.
"Attack them!! Lock the gates!!" Students screamed running after the van with weapons.
I wanted to run towards them when I heard Avril's voice.. she let out a very loud shriek and I turned around to see for myself. I saw Avril falling to the ground, her arm and back were injured and were bleeding heavily.
I wanted to run to Avril when I heard another cry from the other end... The van had already started moving and the students in the cave were crying for help.
I looked in both directions one after another, I was completely confused about what to do.
I can't just let them take away so many students without doing anything to help neither can I risk leaving Avril in that condition.
I stood transfixed at the spot taking turns to stare at both sides... I was completely confused and undecided about what to do.
