Should I take a break

CHAPTER THIRTY THREE
AVRIL
"Don't go to Canada", I repeated the question.
"Avril you know this trip is my life? I can't choose not to go", she replied and I nodded sadly.
"Then do me a favour, spend the night with me you can leave tomorrow morning", I said and she agreed.
I slept curling myself in Jumai's arm, she left really early the next morning... I couldn't help but cry my eyes out when Jumai's flight left the airport.

School has finally resumed, and Chris wasn't paying any attention to me, he was always too busy whenever I approached him.
I was really mad at Chris, it's high time I broke up with him, I didn't sign up for this kind of a relationship.
"Hello", I heard a voice from behind and turned around immediately to see who it was.
"Of course it's you", I said sadly and sighed softly... It was Chris who called.
"Why? You thought it was a ghost? Or are you cheating on me already?" He asked smiling.
"I should be asking you that", I replied and turned my face away. I wasn't overly mad at Chris but I was only a bit sad that he wasn't paying any attention.
"Are you tired of me?" I asked Chris turning to face him.
"Why? Do you want to break up with me?" He asked nonchalantly.
"Wouldn't that be the best? You don't even pay any attention to me and you expect......", Chris placed his hands on my lips gently shutting me up.
"Don't say another word", he said romantically. "Whatever you were blabbering about can be taken care of later", he added and I swallowed hard.
"Chris this is so unfair and you know it", I said sadly and he kissed me passionately... his lips were do sweet whenever he kissed me and I never get tired of it. I wanted the kiss to last forever but it didn't.
He unlocked his lips from mine and walked away.
"Chris!" I called out in anger, I made to follow him but a cold mocking voice stopped me.
"I can see someone is having a couple head ache". I turned around immediately to see who it was and I wasn't surprised that it was Sally.
"What do you want?" I asked her angrily and she smiled to the corner of her lips.
"Are you sure you want to know?" She asked back.
I do not have time for your hide and seek, come out with it or better still leave, I have important things to attend to", I said to her angrily.
"Like settling the lovers quarrel? Come on dear you can do that some other time, why not chill let's have fun together?" She mocked clapping her hands and smiling like she just won a lottery.
"Every couple faces their rough time....."
"Ahan! I can see someone is already getting tensed up", she chipped in.
"You do not have any rights to give relationship advice or to talk about relationships because you have never been in one!" I fired at her starring directly into her eyes.
"Oh! Wow", she exclaimed and I nodded.
"Do you have anything else to say?" I asked and she shook her head, she was obviously ashamed of herself and didn't expect that I would give her such reply. She turned around and walked away.
I stood at the spot watching her until she was out of sight.

Preparations for I and Ariel's birthday had started, Chris was cold and didn't utter a word about my birthday, I really thought he would ask me what I wanted as birthday gift since it was drawing nearer but he didn't ask. He didn't say a word in regards to my upcoming birthday, he rarely spoke to me talk more of talking about my birthday or any gift he'd give to me.
Chris had changed so much recently, he wasn't always like this, he always paid attention to me, he was my super romantic and perfect boyfriend... I was amazed at the recent changes and wondered if Chris was cheating on me.
Jumai had already promised me that she was going to come back before my birthday and I anticipated her return. I craved so much for Jumai's attention, I had missed her so much and couldn't wait for her to come back home.
"Jumai is here!" My personal maid announced jerking me up from my thoughts. I stood up and hurried downstairs super excited.
"Jumai!" I screamed excitedly on sighting Jumai and jumped on her.. I hugged her tightly placing my head on her chest.
"You finally came home. I almost thought you have decides to forsake me", I said sobbing gently.
"Of course not love, you know I will never do that", she replied and pecked my forehead. "Happy big eighteen in advance", she said and pecked my fore head again making me smile like a complete idiot.
"I love you so much dear", I muttered.
"I love you more honey", she replied and I smiled.
"Okay, that's enough can you let her go upstairs now and freshen up or will you continue to profess undying love for each other?" Ariel asked and we both chuckled.
Mom and dad also came downstairs to welcome Jumai, she went upstairs after wards to freshen up. After that she came back down stairs and we had dinner together.
Jumai and I had a lot of catching up to do, I followed her to her room and we talked about almost everything in the world.
"So how about Chris?" She asked me and my happy face immediately changed to a sad one.
"What is the problem?" Jumbo asked holding my hand and playing with my fingers.
"He's been acting strange, he rarely spends time with me, he seldom talks to me in school, he doesn't call and when I do he's in a hurry to end the call. It seems as if though someone is taking his attention", I replied sadly.
"Have you tried talking to him?" Jumai asked.
"What do you think?" I replied.
"I don't know you tell me".
"I did. I tried talking to him but he shoved the discussion aside, he wasn't ready to listen".
"That's really sad, should I talk to him about it? Can I?" I shook my head in disapproval... "I will be fine, if it becomes unbearable you can take a break, you know cool your head or something", she advised and I nodded.
I had already made up my mind, I'd ask Chris for a break or better still call it quit. I only wanted my birthday party and all the stress they'd follow to be over.
