Chapter 13
Ronald's POV
I slammed my fist into his face effortlessly, hoping it would bring him to his senses.
Tom's body fell to the side as I hit him, still mumbling drunkenly. "You selfish bastards..."
I shook my head, "You're just stupid." I said to Tom.
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and stood up holding onto his chair. "Oh! Check it out! So there's a young man here who wants to be in the limelight!"
He instantly changed his face and looked at me ingratiatingly.
"This kind gentleman, would you like to see my daughter, she looks just like her mother and will be a great beauty in a few years."
Tom took advantage of Marry's inattention and he pulled Shelly over, who was so frightened that she kept crying out.
"Hey, Mr. White, please calm down!" Ally had drawn her dagger and held it discreetly in her hand. Her face looked like stone.
Tom ignored Ally's warning, instead his face had an odd look of complacency. He fiddled with shelly's face as if he were showing off the fact that he owned a particularly good quality item.
"Maybe you can buy her for a little money. Just a little bit of money!" Tom was frantically selling me Shelly. I didn't make a sound, and it was clear I didn't want to buy Shelly.
"Tom White! You're crazy! Shelly is your own daughter!" Marry let out a harsh shout as she stared menacingly at tom.
"Don't be stupid, Marry! Do you want Shelly to become like us and live like trash for the rest of her life?"
"I'd rather sell myself than sell my own daughter to be a slave!" Marry's voice got a little choked up as she propped her arms up on the side of the bed and cried as she looked over at her daughter.
An idea came to me, and I shot a wink to Ally.
"Very well!" I began to lie.
I tried to approach Tom slowly, "I don't want to buy an injured slave, so you let Shelly go first. Don't let her get hurt."
Tom looked satisfied with my response as he slowly let go of Shelly.
"I'm looking forward to our deal, sir."
I felt the time pass slowly as I tried to keep my expression as calm as possible.
Seeing that Ally was close to touching Shelly, Tom suddenly grabbed Shelly back again. He looked at us warily, "Do you take me for a fool? What if you get the man but don't pay me?"
I thought my ploy would work on this drunk, but it seems I was wrong.
"I always keep my word, you can count on that." I whispered.
"I don't believe in that. You'd better pay me first, or I can't guarantee if I'll accidentally hurt this little slave!"
Tom picked up a shard of a glass bottle from the floor and put the shard against Shelly's neck.
"Mr. White, if you dare to hurt Shelly, I will absolutely make you pay." Ally's eyes were fixed on the piece of glass as she raised her voice.
"Get out of the way, you hypocritical fool. Women no longer have any useful value other than procreation and entertainment."
"I'll give you a portion of the full payment up front, since I don't have enough money with me right now. If you wish, I will allow you to come home with me to get the money."
Ally's eyes flickered as she looked at me with disbelief, as if she were saying, "What the hell are you talking about? Where did you get the money for him?"
It was clear that I had impressed Tom with my offer, and the tension of the standoff between us was eased.
"Pay with one hand and deliver with the other!"
"Proceed!" I tossed a golden bag of money to Tom, and at the same time, I gave Ally a look that signaled me to hurry up and pull Shelly back.
Tom smiled smugly as he took the money bag and pushed Shelly towards Ally.
Tom's face crossed with a hint of viciousness, and just as Ally took Shelly by the shoulders, he raised a piece of sharp glass and then stabbed Ally's wrist viciously!
If Ally's wrist is cut, she may never be able to help patients with their illnesses.
I couldn't bear the thought of this terrible thing, and without flinching, I instinctively deflected the dangerous shard of glass for Ally.
It happened so briefly that before I could fully react, I heard Marry let out an ear-splitting shout.
"Mr. Tyler! Your hand is hurt!"
Ally realized that my hand was bleeding, and she hurried to stop the bleeding, panicked but still full of sense.
This wound was not a serious matter to me, I had been hurt more seriously than this. But when I saw the look of worry on Ally's face about my wound, my heart began to panic.
Truth be told, I felt a little smug. I can't tell you what kind of emotion it was. That kind of satisfaction is different from the pride after defeating the enemy.
"This wound is not serious at all." I shrugged my shoulders and tried to sound very relaxed and happy.
"Now you need to shut up, Mr. Tyler." Ally is frowning as she dresses me quickly. Her face doesn't look too good.
My wound was taken care of by Ally, but she didn't continue to interact with me. She grabbed her usual dagger and made her way to Tom.
Tom cut Tyler, but he didn't succeed in escaping the place. tom had just reached the door when he was stopped by Ally.
"I told you, you'll pay for what you've done." Ally looked at Tom coldly.
Tom didn't seem to take Ally's threat seriously. tom clutched the money bag in his hand and looked at Ally disdainfully.
"Want to get yourself in trouble? Bitch?"
"Look, I'm not trying to waste time on you. I was going to let you off the hook, but you were too insensitive. I guess I had to teach you some lessons." Ally kept her tone light and then turned to remind me.
She said, "Tyler, do me a favor. Cover Shelly's eyes."
I did as I was told, and then a scream resounded through the not-so-large room.
"Ah! My left hand! " Tom fell straight to the floor in pain, and he kept convulsing.
I watched as Ally used her dagger to cut Tom's left hand off alive. The blood was like an evil flower blooming around Ally.
If another lady had done such a thing, I might have been a little surprised. But when Ally does something like this, I just think that she looks very charming like this.
"Oh my God, I'm going crazy with her!" I silently exclaimed in my mind.
"Get out and don't come back. Or your other hand will end up the same way." Ally laughed mockingly at tom.
Tom picked up his severed left hand and carefully ran away, he even left Tyler's money bag behind.
"Hey Mr. White, you forgot this!" Ally grabbed the money bag and shook it at Tom who was running away. Unfortunately, Tom didn't pay any attention to it; he just kept running.
Ally turned back to me and shrugged helplessly, "He threw it down himself, I had nothing to do with it."
"Yes, it's entirely his responsibility." I replied with a smile.
Ally walked over to Mrs. White's side, she knelt down and said softly, "It's okay now, you don't have to worry about Tom White anymore. And no more fear that he will come after you."
Mrs. White gratefully shook Ally's hand and said, "Thank you, Miss Ally."
Then she turned to me and said, "Thank you very much, Mr. Tyler. Without you, Shelly might not be alive today."
I tried to keep my voice as soft as possible and reassured her, "We just did what we could."
Ally handed me the money bag and winked at me. I think I understood what she was thinking as I pulled out the rest of the money and gave it to Shelly along with the money bag.
Shelly looked at us in surprise and then looked over at Mrs. White. "MAMA?"
I stroked Shelly's hair and said to her gently, "You use this money to go up the river and buy a dry, warm house. Then you can use the rest of the money to pay for Shelly's tuition."
Ally took a thick envelope out of her dress, and she handed it to Mrs. White.
"Marry, here is some money, you guys take this money and leave here and go live in a new place."
Mrs. White refused Ally's envelope at first, but at Ally's request, she accepted this generous offer of help.
"Thank you!"
"You're welcome."
Mrs. White took Shelly's hand and escorted us out of the dilapidated village. The two of them grew smaller and smaller in my sight until they disappeared.
The smile on Ally's face was impossible to hide, and her expression became relaxed. I watched her pleasant touch and my emotions were relaxed.
"Do you think doing this for them is something meaningful?" I asked her casually.
A big smile spread across her face. She gazed at me seriously and said.
"As long as what I do can help them, then there is no doubt that it is meaningful.
The evening sky was covered with a fiery red sunset, and Ally sat by the window with her cheeks in the air and her eyes squinted.
I can see in her eyes the brilliant evening sun in the sky. At this time, her whole aura is full of calm and peaceful. It was completely different from the way she looked when she was lecturing Tom.
"What are you looking at?" I sat next to her and put a jacket on her.
"Don't catch a cold from the wind." I reminded her.
"Oh, thank you, Tyler," she threw a grateful glance at me.
Ally closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Do you smell that fresh scent that comes from the plants as they grow?"
I followed her example and took a deep breath as well. "I didn't smell anything. It's just so strange." I shook my head, I really didn't smell the freshness Ally was talking about.
"But honestly, all I can smell is the freshly baked butterscotch bagels from the bakery downstairs."
I managed to make Ally laugh, and her eyes looked like they were filled with all the stars in the Milky Way. Her gaze was like an ocean beyond my reach, so full of vastness and mystery that I couldn't look away.
"I'm hungry, too. Let's go eat something together. Let's say it's a butter bagel or something." She grinned mischievously at me.
"Now?" I asked.
"It's just about time, Mr. Tyler." Before I could respond, she was pulling me out of the room.
"Come on sir, we need to hurry."
