Chapter 41

Charlotte' POV
I took advantage of the moonlight and I finally got a good look at what it looked like. She was a very thin female, very pale, with many stitches on her face, and even on her neck, there was a very deep scar.
Her pupils were gray, as if they were covered with a gray mist.
I met her eyes, perhaps it was my illusion, I felt her body tremble a little inadvertently, then quickly returned to its original state.
I stared into this woman's eyes, and I always felt that she gave me a particularly familiar feeling.
"Charlotte, look at her hands!" Ronald reminded me.
Her hands were greenish in color, which did not look like a living person's hands at all. "She looks like a mindless machine." I said.
She looked like a war machine that couldn't sense exhaustion as she raised her long scythe and attacked us over and over again.
But she moved like a rusty cog, always a step behind our return fire.
"Strange, she never seems to get tired."
Ronald gasped wearily, his movements slowed by the constant fighting. His wounds, even after receiving my treatment, couldn't become like normal in a short time.
I realized that if I continued to engage with this weird guy, both his and my physical strength would be greatly depleted.
I grabbed the dagger with my right hand, then hid a small bomb in the palm of my left hand. It was handed to me by Charlie on my way out.
"Listen, Ronald, I'm going to pretend to attack this guy. I'll hold this guy back for a while. Then you bring the horse when she's not looking and we'll just have to escape. Because this guy is too strong of a fighter for us to take her out quickly."
This bomb had a tear-jerking effect, and Ronald and I planned to drop this bomb on the woman and then just run away quickly.
"Good." Ronald breathed heavily as he nodded towards me.
With the help of the tree trunks around me, I quickly climbed up the nearest trunk. Then holding my breath, I sneak up on the woman and attack.
I leapt forward with agility and plunged my dagger into her back with precision and skill.
To my surprise, she did not let out the scream I had expected. Even a little blood did not show.
It was so surprising that my dagger felt like it was stuck in the ground.
"Charlotte!" ronalad warned me in a loud voice not far away, and I didn't care that much for the moment. I reserve my doubts, then drop the tear bomb at the woman's feet.
A blinding white eye quickly fills the air and I run wildly to Ronald's side. He reached out to me and pulled me onto my horse.
"Sit tight, Charlotte!" Ronald reminded me, then drove his horse away at a furious pace.
The woman's figure grew smaller and smaller in my vision until it was a blurry little black dot.
I sat in Ronald's arms, my mind actually still thinking about the woman from earlier.
"Ronald, I stuck the dagger into her back. But she was like a piece of wood, she didn't react at all."
Ronald said in disbelief, "That's outrageous, how can a person be pierced by a dagger without any pain?"
"Yeah, she's like a dead person..."
Ronald and I were both silent at the mention of this.
"Charlotte, I don't think this person's identity is considered simple, and how did she know that we would pass through Shadow Pack's border forest today."
I thought for a moment and said, "You mean, someone ordered her to come?"
"That's right." Ronald said. "And it's possible that this person is from the slave trade organization."
I nodded my head in agreement.
"Look over there, Charlotte! That's the gates of the Shadow Pack."
I looked in the direction he was pointing, and there appeared to be someone waiting with a torch near the gates.
Ronald took the reins and the horse stopped steadily in front of the gate.
Ronald jumped off his horse first, and then I could hear him negotiating with a few officials at the gate.
"We are from the Black Night Pack," the official said, his tense expression relaxing after hearing the Black Night Pack.
Ronald handed the red-covered document to the tallest-looking official among them.
The officer respectfully took the document, then ordered the guards to open the gates. "Please enter." A Shadow Pack officer on a horse rode ahead of us.
Ronald rolled onto his horse, he hugged me tightly, and we rode together into the Shadow Pack.
It was now completely dark, and there weren't many people on the road. So we could ride our horses a little faster.
We came to the place where the Alpha of Shadow Pack was working.
"Please wait for a while, Alpha will be here in a moment." The officer explained to us.
"Good." I said to him.
The officer stared at me out of breath as he couldn't stop his compliments, "Miss, your beauty is really very special."
I smiled, "Thank you."
"Rick, you're really getting out of line." A mature, low voice came from behind me.
Ronald and I turn around to find out who's speaking.
A tall but thin man walked in through the doorway, his eyes like the deepest ocean in the world, making it impossible to guess what was really going on in his mind. He had a thick beard and his eyes were firm and fierce.
"We are the ones who came from the Darkness Pack. I am Ronald, and she is Charlotte, my fiancée. "Ronald curtsied to him.
"I am the Alpha of the Shadow Pack, Gary Olsen. it is also I who sent the distress message to your Alpha." Gary sat us down in our chairs and began to communicate with us.
"The Darkness Pack is not far from here, how did it take you guys so long to get here? " Gary asked with concern.
"Because we were ambushed by the Mysterons in the border forest." I said.
"What? You guys were ambushed?" Gary stood up in surprise as he said with wide eyes.
"Yes, Ronald was stabbed in the back by a dart she threw out to protect me." I said.
"So that's it, I'll call a doctor to treat Mr. Ronald's wound right away!"
Ronald waved to Rick, who turned around and called a doctor over.
"Thank you, Mr. Gary. I think my wound just needs the bare minimum of disinfection and dressing, and Miss Charlotte has already pulled the dart out for me. So my life is not in danger now."
Ronald gave me a grateful look.
Gary shot me a look of admiration and ogling. "Miss Charlotte is really good at surprising people. You know, there aren't many women in the Pack with excellent medical skills."
"Yes, that's why I'm committed to learning the healing arts." I nodded with a smile.
"Mr. Gary, this is the dart that the mysterious killer left behind." Ronald handed the dart to Gary.
Gary took it with one hand, and the expression on his face didn't look very surprised.
This made me hesitate a little. Why was there no surprise on Gary's face?
Gary took the dart and put it in his hand and looked at it carefully. His brow was furrowed, "No. I've never seen that before. The pattern on this is too strange."
Gary shook his head as he sighed and handed the dart back to Ronald.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ronald, Miss Charlotte, I've never seen a pattern like that before."
Ronald smiled bitterly as he said helplessly, "It's no wonder, that mystery killer is special too. She's like a dead corpse, but yet she can still move freely."
I noticed that Gary's eyes started to flicker when he heard Ronald mention the mystery killer.
I guessed that Gary might know something about the mystery killer. Sure enough, he suddenly stood up and said in a loud voice to us, "Was the mystery killer you saw dressed all in black and carrying a huge scythe?"
I was surprised at Gary's question, "Yes!"
Gary's face showed a helpless look, "It was the one that killed Beta of the Shadow Pack! I thought its purpose was just to kill Beta. who knew it also wanted to kill you guys."
I reminded Gary, "It's not it, it's her. This killer is a female. She had a horrible look. The skin on her face looked like it had been stitched together with numerous stitches.
Gary listened and drew a cold breath.
"Now we are not much safer than we were just now. I'm guessing her intention wasn't to just kill two people and stop." I said.
Ronald nodded, "I think she'll be back. We just don't know what she's up to yet."
Gary stood up, an icy look in his eyes. "I will find her."
"Of course, I think you guys should be in great need of a good rest right now. I'll have someone arrange for you to go to the best hotel, and you'll rest for today. When tomorrow, I will take you to check out Beta's place."
"Good. Thank you, Mr. Gary." Ronald took my hand and we said goodbye to Mr. Gary.
Ronald and I were put into a room.
"Ronald, are you okay?" I said to Ronald, with my hair down, after I finished my shower.
"What? You mean my injury?"
"Yes, I noticed that your injury is still bleeding, it's not healed."
I noticed that Ronald's expression was a little uneasy, and I gently leaned over to my side, then examined the wound on his back.
"Charlotte, the mystery killer's goal was to kill you." Ronald was right. This incident made him look very worried.
"It's okay, I'll wrap it up to protect myself." I dropped a kiss between his eyebrows, hoping it would comfort him.
"Charlotte, I'm afraid I won't be able to protect you one day."
Ronald doesn't look like the same energetic, wide-eyed guy anymore. This made me feel very guilty inside.
"Ronald, look at me!" I held his head and ordered Ronald to look me in the eye.
"You've done a great job today, and it makes me happy that you were even willing to sacrifice your life to save mine, honey. But more than anything, I want us both to be safe. ronald, I will always protect you too!"
"Do you remember when we first met at Wind Pack? That was when I was very badly injured by batty and the others."
"Of course I remember, I was already using my healing powers to heal you at that time." I answered him.
"So that's when you were willing to treat me in this special way." Ronald's tone reveals a thrill that cannot be ignored, and he hugs me so tightly that I can hardly breathe.
Ronald and I were pressed against each other's foreheads, and the warmth of his body came to me in a constant stream. ronald spoke, "Charlotte, you really do keep surprising me. You know, a werewolf with special powers has a high probability of being an Alpha!"
I looked up in surprise, "That's impossible, my mother is just an ordinary werewolf. Although everyone says I look very special, I still think I'm just a relatively lucky ordinary werewolf."
"Charlotte, who else knows about your ability to heal people?" Ronald asked.
I shook my head, "Besides my mother, it's you."
Ronald hugged me tightly, "Lottie, promise me you won't show your powers to anyone other than me. That would just be too dangerous. You don't want to know what they will do to you."
