Chapter 47
Ronald's POV
Tyler pointed at the mystery man and exclaimed, "Ronald! This guy with the giant scythe is the K I mentioned!"
I looked in the direction of his finger, and the last mystery man was standing not far away.
K ran towards me, but her aim was not me, but Charlotte beside me.
K raised her scythe, and like a giant grim reaper, K's figure loomed over Charlotte's head.
I tried to block K's attack, but she was just too strong. I was kicked away from her, and K knocked my weapon to the ground.
I took a violent attack on my head and all I could feel was a fishy and sweet taste in my mouth. "Damn it!" I spat to the side and a red liquid dripped from the corner of my mouth.
"That's blood!" Charlotte exclaimed.
"We have no choice, Ronald!" she said as she was absolutely immobilized by K's grip.
"Charlotte! No!" I watched as K took Charlotte away, and Charlotte struggled hard, but none of it made any difference.
Like a tornado, K took Charlotte away. Where she left I saw something that seemed to be reflecting.
"What is this?" I picked it up and looked. It turned out to be a pendant that belonged to Charlotte.
"I remember this was left for her by her mother Kalay."
"Yes, but it would be better for us to go back to the Shadow Pack first, because this is the closest place to the Shadow Pack, and we can go and ask for help from Mr. Gary."
Tyler said to me.
I nodded and went back to the Shadow Pack. Gary seemed to be waiting for us in the lobby already.
"Mr. Gary! Charlottebe has been captured by the mysterious people! Please help us!"
Gary stood up in surprise, and he said to Rick, "Tell all the guards to search the Shadow Pack and all the surrounding areas immediately! Don't let that mystery man leave the Shadow Pack! Make sure to find Miss Charlotte in the shortest possible time!"
Gary hurriedly left, but Gavin quietly slipped out from behind the door at that moment.
He looked at me anxiously, "Where did Miss Charlotte go?"
I always disliked Gavin's meddling in Charlotte's affairs, but seeing as Gavin was so concerned about Charlotte.
I could only say to him rather helplessly, "Miss Charlotte was captured by K. We can't find any trace of K yet."
As I was saying that, I took Charlotte's necklace in my hand, which might bring me some comfort and ease my thoughts about Charlotte for a while.
At such a time, Gavin, the madman, actually snatched the necklace away. He held the necklace with a look in his eyes like he was about to explode in a frenzy.
"Where did you find this necklace? Tell me quickly!" Mr. Gavin roared madly.
His eyes were filled with pain.
"This is the necklace that belonged to Charlotte, it was left to her by her mother! Give me back the necklace now!"
I tried to snatch this necklace back from Mr. Gavin's hand, but I didn't expect Mr. Gavin to directly turn into the form of a wolf.
Charlotte's necklace was pressed down by his paws, and I couldn't communicate with Mr. Gavin in a normal human way because he didn't look any different from a madman.
I did what charotte usually does and comforted Mr. Gavin.
"Mr. Gavin, please calm down. This is really Charlotte's and her mother's stuff. Please return it to me, because this necklace is very important to Charlotte."
With my good words, Mr. Gavin finally changed back to his human form. I noticed that he was like a desperate wanderer at this point, his eyes were red, and he looked at the necklace in his hand with a wistful gaze.
"This is the token of my love to Kalay, we had agreed to let my child wear it forever."
By now Mr. Gavin's eyes were no longer as cloudy as before, and he bowed his head as if he was suffering from great pain.
I realized that Mr. Gavin was now awake.
"Mr. Gavin, are you okay?" I asked.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ronald. I have been deceiving you. From the first moment Miss Charlotte met me and saw her special, lake blue eyes, I was guessing that maybe she was my long-lost daughter.
I just never dared to be sure, until today, when I saw this necklace. I dare to be sure that she is my real daughter, an Alpha. and her mother is my most beloved MATE."
I couldn't believe at all what I was hearing right now.
But one thing was certain, and that was that Mr. Gavin had returned to his normal mental state.
"Then I'll hurry and ask Cathy to inform Mr. Gary of the good news that you have returned to health!"
Gavin stopped me, "No. The identity of the madman can help me cover up many truths, if others know that I have returned to normal, then many of my actions will be restricted. So, this matter that I have returned to normal, do not let a third person besides you and me know."
I promised, "Okay, I'll keep it a secret."
Charlotte's POV
I woke up from my coma with an unignorable, sharp pain coming from my wrist.
The pain of being strangled by thick rope came from my body. The coarse twine was rubbing against my delicate skin, and there was no place where it didn't feel hot and painful.
I looked up, my body was tied to a strong, marble table top.
This scene, if to an outsider, I looked like a delicious dish.
A keen sense of smell alerted me to the amount of blood surrounding me, and I opened my eyes as best I could, and I saw that Chesley was on his knees, and he was licking my wrists.
"Mr. Chesley?" I looked in amazement at the horrible man in front of me. My wrist had been slashed open and blood was pouring out.
"You're awake, Miss Charlotte, and I must say, your blood is delicious!"
Chesley's gruff, raspy voice was like a hungry demon in a cave as he whispered in my ear.
"So you did all this!" I suddenly realized that those horrible poisons, those murders that happened in Wind Pack...
"Don't you think it's a little too late to find out the truth?" Chesley licked the remnants of my blood from the corner of his mouth. His expression looked greedy and enjoyable.
"Damn, your blood is simply pure and a million times more delicious than your mother's, no, ten million times more!"
Chesley slapped himself hard, "Sober up! You're drinking this guy's blood now, what am I going to do later?"
I noticed Chesley's split personality talking to himself.
The constant loss of blood caused my body's temperature to drop and my consciousness began to show signs of blurring.
I don't know how long this lasted, but by the time I reacted my eyes became black. I fainted on the top of this platform, but my consciousness was always clear.
"My head is so dizzy..." I tried to struggle, I wanted to run out of this terrible room.
But what awaited me were even stronger chains.
Chesley only dressed my wound briefly, he did not put medicine on the wound on my wrist. So my wrist was still dripping blood like an untightened faucet.
He paced around me anxiously, my wrist wound seemed to have a great attraction to him. He kept looking at my wound and then stuck out his tongue to lick the dripping blood in small bites.
The scene was bizarre and a bit ridiculous, as if he was tasting a delicious snack, eager to eat it in one bite, but feeling very reluctant to do so.
"K!" he called aloud to the darkness behind him, and a woman in a black cloak came out with an expressionless face.
"So this is your subordinate!" I said powerlessly. If I hadn't been injured, I might have been able to beat K. But now I was facing blood loss, and I couldn't even stand up with a clear head.
"K, I need you to keep an eye on Miss Charotte, I'm going to leave here for a while to take care of business inside the Wind Pack."
Chesley sucked up deeply on the side of my wrist as he gritted the back of his teeth and made a squeaking sound.
"Damn, I'd like to eat you right now."
He slammed the door behind him and this empty room. All I could hear was the sound of my heart beating alone. k stood silently to the side, she looked like she was not breathing, not tired, not desiring.
"Like a lifeless puppet, at Chesley's mercy." I smiled mockingly and wondered what happened to Mr. Ronald now. Would they come to my rescue?
I don't know how long it's been; I can't feel the pain in my wrist anymore. Perhaps it was the loss of blood, and my body turned on its defense mode. My consciousness gradually blurred and in a trance I saw K coming towards me...
When I was awake again, I was rescued from that cell. "Who's there?" I looked around and no one else appeared around me except K.
"Did you save me?" I looked at K in confusion.
K was silent.
Her face was still horribly stitched up, but if I took the time to stare at K, I seemed to be able to make out the likeness of a familiar face.
I recalled what Mr. Chesley had said to me, that he should have tasted my mother Kalay's blood as well.
"Have you met my mother, K?" I locked eyes with K. Her eyes suddenly filled with tears, and a surprising number of teardrops slid down the corners of her eyes.
I was just about to wipe the teardrops away for her when K immediately stood up and looked alertly in the west direction.
Mr. Chesley's figure appeared on the horizon, and he soon came to me.
"K, you betrayed me." Chesley's tone was very cold, "but it doesn't matter, I don't need you in my body anymore. Because now I've got a better replacement."
Chesley's gaze slid to me, a look of longing for my blood on his face.
"I won't let you leave me, Charlotte," he grinned at me, licking the corner of his mouth greedily.
K stepped in front of me, her scythe in hand, she looked ready to fight Chesley at any moment.
"K, you betrayed your master. I am much wiser than you, and I can slaughter anything that is in my presence or not, that upsets me or makes me happy, human, bird, animal, werewolf, without meaning to."
Chesley laughed furiously as he stared viciously at K. He began to chant a language I couldn't understand. It seemed to be the language from the witch tribe. Was there some connection between Chesley's identity and the witch tribe?
K covered her head as she fell to her knees and kept banging her head on the ground. chesley was closing in on us and I thought I might just die here today.
