Chapter 43

Charlotte's pov
I was being held tightly by this strange man and couldn't move.
Ronald was already very angry next to me, "Damn it, why is he holding you tight?"
"I don't know! I don't even know him!"
I pushed the man away so hard that he looked like a stump had grown on me.
Ronald tried to kick the crazy man away, but because the man was holding me so tightly, Ronald was afraid of hurting me.
"It's okay, Ronald, he wasn't trying to hurt me."
I tried to get this crazy man to stop, so I kept talking to him, "Sir, please calm down! What exactly do you want me to do?"
Ronald shook his head, and he helplessly lowered his fist.
This crazy man slowly let go of me and he looked at me with a growing gleam in his eyes.
"Honey? I missed you so much!" He said numbly.
I suspected I had misheard, "Sir? I don't know you!"
Ronald could no longer calm himself down at this moment, he clenched his fist and swung it hard at the crazy man.
The mad man let out a muffled grunt and he fell to the ground like a broken piece of porcelain.
"Oh my God!"
"Ronald, stop it!"
Ronald still wanted to greet the mad man with a punch to his face. His movement was stopped by me.
"Don't keep punching him!"
I let out a shocked cry as the crazy man fell to the ground , but he didn't feel anger or pain from being punched by Ronald.
"Honey..."
The crazy man was still giggling.
"You bastard! What the hell are you talking about?"
Ronald crouched down in anger as he raised his arm to punch the madman.
"Stop it! Someone will come and take care of him, Ronald! Don't bully him!"
I grabbed Ronald's arm firmly, which made it all he could do to stop.

"Charlotte, this madman is harassing you with his words!" Ronald said to me incomprehensibly.
"I know, but you know, he's a lunatic!" I explained.
But I always stopped Ronald from continuing to bully this lunatic.
"I cannot allow you to bully an unresisting man, Ronald!"
Several maids and servants came from a distance, the head maid with two boxes of medicine in her hands and the manservant behind her with two very thick ropes.
"Miss Charlotte, Mr. Ronald, we are very sorry about this, it was our negligence that allowed Mr. Gavin to sneak out."
A very stout maid bent down and curtsied to Ronald and me.
"I am the maid who takes care of Mr. Gavin exclusively, and my name is Cathy."
"That's nothing, Cathy. but who is this madman anyway?"
Cathy hesitantly made eye contact with her companion, who looked very torn on the subject.
Cathy sighed and said, "This is Gavin Olsen, the last Alpha of the Shadow Pack, who has been mentally ill, so he needs constant care and medication."
Cathy ordered the manservant to trap Gavin's hands and feet, but I stopped him.
"Cathy, can you not tie his hands?" I asked. I couldn't bear to see this madman tied up like an animal waiting to be killed.
Cathy's face showed a look of embarrassment.
"I'm afraid that's not possible, Miss Charlotte. It is our duty to look after Mr. Gavin. If his hands are not tied, he will still sneak out and treat other ladies like he just treated Miss Charlotte."
"Does he often do that to others? Hugging and not letting go and such..."
Ronald looked at Gavin with a disgusted look on his face. gavin kept staring at my face as if he was an innocent child. His eyes were golden and beautiful.
"Yes, but it's the first time I've seen such an emotional state like today."
Cathy said.
I said to Cathy, "I think I can try to take care of Mr. Gavin. He seems to have stabilized after receiving my reassurance. And since I'm a doctor, I think I can be professional enough to take care of him."
Cathy bowed her head, then was silent for a moment.
"All right. But I'm not qualified to decide the final outcome. I think I need to go back and report this request of yours to Mr. Gary."
I nodded, "Okay."
Gavin followed me around, he wasn't very talkative, but he kept smiling at me.
This made Ronald unhappy, he wasn't happy that I was being gawked at so much all the time by a strange madman.
"Charlotte, I hate it when he looks at you like that."
Ronald frowned, he hadn't looked good since we met Gavin today.
"He's a patient, and as a doctor, I can't help but aid a patient, dear. It's my duty, Mr. Ronald."
I explained to Ronald as calmly as I could.
"You were a doctor, that's fine. But you are not anymore, you are now my fiancée, Miss Charlotte."
Ronald raises his voice as the argument between him and me attracts Gavin's attention.
His tugged at my coat and spoke to me carefully.
"Don't be angry, honey."
Gavin's face was extremely pale and his eyes kept blinking in the sunlight.
Gavin whispered to me sheepishly, "Why is he so mad at you, honey?"
Ronald pushed Gavin away, "Get away from Charlotte, you crazy bastard!"
For the first time, I was so angry with Ronald for what he did.
"Ronald, you're being downright cautious! You're just like a stupid, impulsive boar! I hate it when you do that!"
I pulled Gavin behind me, and I looked Ronald straight in the eye, and he turned his head away from looking at me.
"I will not allow you to bully Gavin again until I fully understand his condition, Ronald!" I said to Ronald in a sober, serious voice.
"Yes, I am your fiancée, and I love you."
I paused for a moment I and said in a firm tone. "But before those identities, I was a doctor."
Ronald's gaze fell on me and Ronald looked at me with his eyes half closed. It was as if he wanted to say something else, but he finally turned his back and stopped looking at me.
Cathy jogged over and told me that Gary was coming over later and that he wanted to talk to Miss Charlotte specifically about Gavin's condition.
Five minutes later, Gary hurried into the room.
I noticed that whenever Gavin saw Gary's figure, he would hide behind me with a scared look on his face.
I began to speculate if they were abusing Gavin.
Gary explained to me, "Miss Charlotte, this is my brother, Gavin olsen."
"I know, Cathy and I have talked about this. mr. Gavin his mental state seems downright awful."
Gary draped a shirt over his brother; the nights were always especially cold.
"He lost his mate when he was young and he's been crazy ever since." Gary said.
"Mr. Gavin met us on the road today and he just tugged at Charlotte's coat and wouldn't let go."
Ronald said to Gary.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ronald. I'm sorry for what my brother did to Miss Charlotte. He should have thought of Miss Charlotte as the MATE he once was."
Gary looked sadly at his brother and said, "My brother, he always identifies young women as his MATE."
I understood Gavin's feelings very well, losing the love of one's life can always break one's heart, let alone losing one's mate.
Gavin's eyes became red from emotion and I sympathized with his condition.
"Mr. Gary, I'm a doctor. Mr. Gavin's condition is, in my opinion, curable. So, I ask you to leave Mr. Gavin to me. I always feel a special bond between him and me."
Mr. Gary said to me in surprise, "If that is the case, if Miss Charlotte is willing, that would be great! I will immediately arrange someone to prepare the best medical instruments and rooms for you!"
I hastily waved my hand, "No, Mr. Gary, this disease is not cured by taking medicine. It is a mental illness, and I think what he needs most is understanding and companionship."
I noticed the look of great displeasure on Ronald's face. "Well, Ronald, that's my job. I don't suppose you get jealous with a patient, do you?"
Ronald shrugged, "You're right about everything, dear."
I reassured Mr. Gavin, "Mr. Gavin, I know this is a very difficult time for you. But I don't think you did it on purpose did you?"
I said to him in a gentle, relaxed voice.
Gavin took my hand, and his tears suddenly fell like a raindrop on the back of my hand.
"Mr. Gavin? What's wrong with you?" I asked with concern.
Mr. Gavin said, "Charlotte? Is that your name?"
"Yes, you can call me Charlotte. I am the doctor who is here to take care of your condition."
I knew he was mentally awake now. This was the perfect time to ask him for information.
"Mr. Gavin, how do they usually treat you?" I began to take out the notebook I had with me to make notes.
"They would tie my hands and feet with ropes, and they would make me take a drug that would make my whole body lose strength."
Mr. Gavin pointed to the two boxes on the table. He lowered his head and said to me in a lost voice, "Charlotte, are you going to give me these today too?"
I watched as he looked at me carefully, his eyes all, "Please, I don't want to take this medicine at all."
I nodded to him, "If you're still as cranky and acting outrageous as before, maybe, they'll make you take these pills."
"No! I don't want to take these pills, they'll make me doze off non-stop, constantly."
Gavin covered his eyes, and he looked very anxious.
"But, Mr. Gavin, if you will do what I ask you to say and avoid all inappropriate words and actions. I will certainly not make you take these pills."
I said to Gavin, clasping my arms.
Gavin nodded seriously. "I think I will, Miss Charlotte.
"Now, I think I need you to take a deep breath and go to sleep nicely."
It wasn't very difficult to get Gavin to do what I told him to do. I didn't understand why Cathy was forcing Gavin to do those things.
"Now Mr. Gavin has gone to sleep, and I haven't put him on any medication."
I said to Cathy.
Cathy was a little surprised at my behavior. "Ms. Charlotte, you are the first person, I have never seen, who has been able to put Mr. Gavin to sleep quietly."
I asked, puzzled. "Did you all put him on medication before to make him calm?"
"Yes, Miss Charlotte." Miss Cathy said. The matter of getting Mr. Gavin to take his medication seemed to be a very common thing for her, like drinking water.
"I don't think these drugs are harmless, are they?" I asked.
"Of course they are harmful. However, these measurements are very small. Basically, they won't affect Mr. Gavin's life." Cathy said unconcerned.
"Is this allowed by Mr. Gary? You know, Mr. Gavin was the last Alpha."
I said.
"WELL, Miss Charlotte. All I can say is that Mr. Gavin is not fit to be an Alpha. no one would be better suited to be an Alpha of the Pack than Gary."
Cathy paused and she whispered, in a tone that no one but me would know, "Miss Charlotte, Mr. Gavin is a disgrace to Mr. Gary's family, and besides, we all think so."
"It is already by Mr. Gary's special permission that he is allowed to continue living here. So, Miss Charlotte, don't ask any more questions..."
Cathy her eyes kept dodging when she looked at me, and I thought that maybe that was why she was being weak-minded.
"Okay."
