Chapter 27

Charlotte's POV
Early the next morning, I rested all night. The clean, soft bed had restored a good part of my energy.
"Miss Charlotte, I've come to bring you breakfast." A soft voice came from the door.
There was a persistent knock on the door
"I'm coming." I stepped forward and opened the door.
A girl in a maid's outfit was at the door, pushing a tray of food.
"Good morning, Miss Charlotte. This is the breakfast that His Highness Ronald ordered me to prepare for you."
She said to me with a smile. I felt her eyes filled with the thought of probing me deeply.
And before I could answer him, she made a smart move and pushed the food cart in.
"You have to at least give me your name, otherwise you're going to look a little rude to me with this behavior."
I said as I stood here in the door frame with my arms clasped, and I looked at her.
"I guess you can call me ViVian. miss Charlotte." She placed her breakfast on the table. I noticed that the look she gave me as she surveyed me wasn't exactly kind.
"Miss Charlotte, Mr. Ronald is the person I respect most. I wish everyone could respect him as much as I do."
Vivian paused for a moment, looking at the clothes on my body and my face as she raised her voice, emphatically.
"If the other person is also a humble slave, I think it is my duty to make her understand what happens when she disrespects Mr. Ronald!"
ViVian stared at me, but she still spoke as if she were singing a gentle song.
I understood that Vivian had a deep hostility towards me. Because I was a bought and paid for slave just like her.
But the difference between me and Vivian is that she cares about Ronald, who to me is nothing but a complete fraud.
"It seems that all of you in the Blackout Pack have the same problem."
I said without the slightest bit of timidity, looking her straight in the eye.
  "What?" She asked.
  "The same arrogance."
ViVian looked like she was irritated by what I said, and she said to me aggressively like a jagged cat with fried hedgehog.
"WELL, Miss Charlotte! I would never have served this damn breakfast to a lowly, stupid woman without Mr. Ronald's orders!"
She dropped her breakfast and pushed the food cart out.
I shrugged indifferently; I wouldn't be in this place for long anyway.
I hadn't forgotten my mother's killer. Only if I had the chance to meet Alpha of the Blackout Pack, I would definitely find a way to kill him.
But truth be told, I was depressed.
I was a little sad when I found out that Ronald was the heir to the Alpha of the Blackout Pack.
If he wasn't the Alpha heir of the Blackout Pack, we could have been a normal couple in love.
But his father is the Alpha of the Black Night Pack, and we are destined to be people who will hurt each other.
But, "He actually told me his name was Tyler!" I said angrily, kicking my bed hard.
"Come on, Ronald, he's a liar." My wolf couldn't agree with me more.
"He actually used his Beta's name to trick me!" I walked back and forth in anger.
"Charlotte, dear. But we tricked him, too." My wolf said to me.
Yes, but I did it because I had to hide my tracks. I'm the one who didn't have to lie to him with a fake name.
"I had to do it, what about him? What can he do even if he uses Ronald's real name as long as he doesn't say he's the Alpha heir of the Dark Pack?"
I was still very angry with Ronald for what he had done.
If he would have said he was the Alpha Heir of the Blackout Pack sooner, I wouldn't have had to suffer at Thomas's place for over a month of abuse at all!
"He betrayed me." I sat on my bed in silence, hunkering my legs together.
I leaned back on my knees and I could clearly hear my heart pounding.
  "Knock, knock, knock."
There was another knock on the door.
"See see see, this must be Vivian coming after you again. charlotte, you really should have killed that damn Alpha sooner!"
My wolf said angrily to me.
I rushed out of bed to answer the door. The knocker seemed to be hitting the fragile board with a hammer again, and the raucous sound made me cover my ears.
I was in such a hurry that I didn't even have time to put on my shoes.
"Stop knocking! I can't keep waiting for you behind the door! ""
I angrily opened the door and scolded the person at the door.
  "WELL, good morning, Miss Charlotte."
It turned out to be Tyler, who was the Beta of the Blackout Pack.
Tyler's face seemed a little embarrassed, but he still maintained his basic manners.
  "Good morning, Tyler."
I put away my anger and smiled at him.
"Mr. Ronald explained to me that he needs you to go to his study Mr. Ronald said that you agreed to discuss things together."
Tyler bent down slightly and made an aisle in the doorway.
I carefully recalled the sentences Ronald whispered in my ear last night.
Yes, I wasn't really asleep at the time. I just didn't know what kind of attitude to use to face the real Ronald.
But I could hear all of what Ronald said.
"Yes, we did agree on that." I nodded my head to Tyler.
"Could you please take me over to Ronald, please." I requested Tyler.
This damn place is like a giant maze. There were identical stone statues and wooden doors everywhere.
The exits took some effort to find, and they were often hidden in the shadows around the corners of the stairs.
I quietly whispered an exclamation. "Geez, the dark pack is really the most powerful pack on this continent. it's evident from the palace's arrangement."
"Charlotte, if you came here alone, I think it would take us a long time to get out."
My wolf exclaimed in amazement, as did I.
What I saw was what my wolf could see so.
"Charlotte, I think we'll have to postpone our plan to assassinate the Alpha of the Dark Pack. ""
Indeed, there are too many places and things in this land that I am not yet familiar with.
If I acted rashly, I wouldn't necessarily be able to succeed.
"I agree. I think I need to familiarize myself with everything about Alpha first."
Tyler suddenly stopped in his tracks and I almost ran into his back.
"Here we are Miss Charlotte." Tyler politely opened the door for me.
"Aren't you coming in with me, Tyler?" I asked him.
Tyler shook his head and explained to me gently, "Mr. Ronald has other things planned for me."
  "Okay." I nodded understandingly.
Ronald's figure was not far from me as I walked into the study.
Behind me Tyler gently closes the door behind him. For a moment, Ronald and I were the only ones left in the study.
I didn't want to be the one to speak first. But Ronald also seems to have no intention to communicate with me.
The atmosphere in the room seemed strangely silent.
I stared boredly at a bouquet of flowers on the table, a bunch of light blue lilies. They were emitting a sweet fragrance.
It was Ronald who finally broke the silence.
"Your name is Charlotte? Is that your real name?" He turned to me and asked, clasping his arms.
"Of course that's Charlotte's real name." My wolf said to me in a mocking tone.
I could feel that my wolf's impression of Ronald was simply awful.
"I don't think I have to lie to you at all, sir." I goaded my shoulders and explained to Ronald.
"If I wanted to, I could have researched what kind of fur your grandparents' grandparents' wolves had."
Ronald sounded like he was angry with me, and he seemed to be threatening me, but I wasn't afraid of him like that at all.
"I know, as long as you like it." I met Ronald's gaze, and he turned his head away unnaturally.
"Were you abducted, or were you kidnapped?" Ronald cross-examined me as if I had committed some crime.
I really didn't have a good feeling about him, so I tried to answer him with as few words as possible.
  "Kidnapped."
"I hope you can answer my question truthfully. You know, this is the Black Night Pack. and I am the heir of Alpha.
I need to know where every slave comes from, because I have to keep the members safe."
His cold tone was like he was dissecting a corpse without any vital signs.
  It irritated me a little.
"You have stressed these things many times. If you want to know more from me, don't keep talking nonsense."
I answered Ronald in the same tone. i managed to make his face look very ugly.
I don't think anyone would have disliked him back like I did in the dark pack.
Ronald's fingers were clutching a pen so hard that it made the tips of his fingers turn white.
"Are your parents still there?" Ronald asked.
"My mother has passed away. I don't know where my father is; maybe he's dead, or maybe he's gone far away. In any case, I don't know."
"Are there any other family members left in your family?"
  "I'm the only one left."
Ronald's writing hand paused for a moment, and he looked up at me.
"And how did you get kidnapped by Thomas?" Ronald continued to cross-examine me, and this time, his tone began to sound less forceful.
"He charmed me and then kidnapped me when I wasn't looking."
"Didn't you think about escaping?" Ronald asked.
"Come on, I couldn't even beat those kidnappers. They could have almost easily crushed my neck."
I'm sorry I spilled the beans. But it was to avenge my mother, and I had to do it.
I couldn't let people know that I knew fighting skills and could heal.
I'd better be able to make them think that I'm just a slave who only pleases people.
Ronald stared at me with his good-looking eyes . He seemed to detect any signs of wrongdoing or lying on my face.
He used to stare at me like this, but his eyes were not so cold.
In Ronald's eyes, I always found a lot of warmth and laughter.
"I need you to help me, to help me understand everything about Thomas."
Ronald said to me in a condescending tone.
I refused Ronald's request without hesitation. I hated it when he spoke to me in that tone of voice.
"I guess I'm just a humble, weak slave. I shouldn't be able to help you in any way. I can't fulfill any of your requests either."
I looked at Ronald with an innocent expression. i spread out my hands, "Mr. Ronald, I don't think I can do it at all."
