Chapter 48

Ronald's POV
Tyler sent a message and I took the note which read, "K's current location has been investigated and her location belongs to the Chesley property. The witch tribe people said that they do not have K as a member.
But Chesley is the child of a black witch and a werewolf. His mother was a member who was expelled from the witch tribe, so Chesley's identity was a particularly easy thing to find out."
I twisted my fingers delicately around the necklace Charlotte had left behind.
Now I could finally go and get Charlotte back, she must be suffering from K's abuse now.
"Mr. Ronald, is there any more news coming from Charlotte?" Gavin paced anxiously back and forth in front of me.
"Yes, I've located K's place, she's in Wind Pack, under a property belonging to Mr. Chesley."
I grabbed my clothes and headed for the door.
"I'm coming with you to rescue her!" Mr. Gavin hurriedly followed me as he went with us to the door to get the horses.
"Mr. Ronald, where are you going?" Kelly brought a glass of milk, which she tried to pass to me.
"I don't have time for this right now, we've found out where K lives. We need to save Charlotte now."
I finished explaining to her, and I hurriedly mounted my horse and set off for Chesley's place.
Mr. Gavin followed me, and Kelly locked eyes with him and turned her head away, pretending not to see Mr. Gavin sneaking out with me.
"Be safe, Uncle Gavin." Kelly pulled Mr. Gavin back and then handed him a small box.
"Inside are pills and medicinal alcohol that will stop the bleeding. If any of you get hurt, I hope these will help you!"
Kelly whispered to me.
I was surprised at Ms. Kelly's change of heart, and just as I was about to ask her why this was happening, there was a racket around the corner in the hallway.
"You have to go now! Especially Uncle Gavin, he is not allowed to leave here by my father! "
Kelly pushed Mr. Gavin out the door, and I saw an expectant gleam in her eyes."
Mr. Gavin and I got on our horses and sped off.
It had just rained and there were muddy puddles and weeds all along the way.
"Look over there! Why is there a man lying there?" Mr. Gavin raised his hand and pointed to the grass in front of him.
Not far from her, there was a man in a black dress, and it was K!
I hastily picked Charlotte up and carefully examined her wounds.
"Damn, why is there such a deep scar on her wrist." Gavin took out the box Kelly gave us and gave Charlotte all the medicine inside.
I tested her temperature, "She seems to have a fever, I think the wound is infected and inflamed! We need to get her back to the Shadow Pack immediately!"
Gavin pointed to K who was lying on the side, "What about her?"
"Take them back together! We need to interrogate K properly!"
We returned to the Shadow Pack and Kelly came out early to greet us. "Oh my God, why is Charlotte so badly injured? I'll arrange for someone to go get her right away!"
Kelly turned around and told Cathy to take Charlotte into the operating room.
I wanted to go in and stay with Charlotte, but the doctor in charge didn't allow me to go in with her.
"The wound on Miss Charlotte's wrist is too deep and needs to be stitched up! Please carry on waiting patiently outside, please trust us!"
I sat disappointedly at the door of the operating room, and Gavin reassured me, "Don't worry, Charlotte will be fine."
I had to nod my head and put Charlotte's matter aside for the time being.
"You go interrogate K. When Charlotte wakes up, I'll send someone to tell you." Gavin patted my shoulder and said.
"Your attitude towards Charlotte has touched me, and when Miss Charlotte wakes up, I will explain to him that you love her."
I went to K. K. was also very badly injured, especially in her chest, where a piece of skin had been torn off raw. "I think it was bitten off by a wolf." Tyler said to me.
I thought K's wound was very strange, Charlotte was not a character that would like to turn into a wolf and bite people, what she was best at was stabbing people with that dagger of hers, I had never seen her turn into wolf form in all the time I had known her.
"It's possible that K's wounds were inflicted by someone else." I said to Tyler in a low voice.
"I'll have my wolf contact my father's wolf, he's the most intelligent person I've ever met, and if he comes over, K's problem will be solved as well."
Tyler agreed with my proposal.
I contacted my father and he said he would be at Shadow Pack with some guards by the afternoon.
Kelly came running over, "Mr. Ronald, Miss Charlotte's surgery was a complete success!"
I rushed to the hospital room to find her. I pushed open the door and saw Charlotte and Gavin talking.
"How do you feel about your health now, Charlotte?" asked Mr. Gavin.
"I'm mostly able to get my body back to health, and other than my wrists, which are still a little sore, I don't feel like I'm a fragile patient." A smile tugged at the corners of Charlotte's mouth.
I handed her necklace to Gavin, who smiled gratefully at me. "Charlotte, I think you'll be happy to see this now."
Gavin held his hand out to Charlotte, where Kayla's necklace was resting quietly in his hand.
"This is the necklace my mother left me!" Charlotte exclaimed. She hurriedly took the necklace back and then carefully wore it around her neck.
"Thank you, Mr. Gavin, this necklace is very important to me. It's the only thing my mother left me to think about."
"Charlotte, dear..." I suddenly didn't know how to speak and mention to Charlotte that Gavin was her real father.
"Miss Charlotte, your mother had the same lake blue eyes as you, didn't she?" Gavin asked softly. His fists were clenched.
"Yes." Charlotte nodded.
"Your father, do you know who he is?" Gavin asks hesitantly.
"My mother said he died at a very early age. So I have never met him, my father."
Gavin lovingly stroked Charlotte's hair, "Poor child, Charlotte. your father is here now, you can cry as much as you like in my shoulder!"
Charlotte looked at Gavin incredulously, "This can't be, Kayla said my father was long dead..."
Charlotte said: "Let's see, did she once tell you-, if you want to open this necklace, you have to think of happy memories for the necklace to play out the images it holds, right?"
Charlotte covered her mouth, her face was very surprised: "I have not told anyone this, how do you know?"
Mr. Gavin showed an infinite bitter smile, "Charlotte, this necklace was originally given by me to your mother. It was also I who taught her how to use this necklace."
"So, you are my father, Mr. Gavin?"
"You should call me father, you are the daughter of an Alpha, Charlotte, my dear, you are not a wanderer, you are the future Alpha of the Shadow Pack!"
"But right now the Alpha of the Shadow Pack is Mr. Gary." While I was happy for Charlotte to find her father, the current state of Gavin was not easy.
"He doesn't deserve to be Alpha!" a familiar voice came from the doorway, it was my father, Charlie Carson.
"Father! Are you here so soon?" I said in surprise.
My father nodded his head in greeting to me, and he turned his head to Mr. Gavin and scolded him sternly, "You're the one who caused Kayla to be so disappointed! You bastard!"
Mr. Gavin was punched hard in the face by Mr. Charlie.
Not to be outdone, Mr. Gavin wrestled with my father.
"You rude bastard! What the hell are you talking about?"
"For God's sake, Ronald, get them off me!"
Charlotte coughed in bed in agitation as she directed me to separate his father from mine.
"For the love of Kayla, will you guys sit down and talk like adults! Instead of beating each other up like two crazy crows!"
Charlotte's voice wasn't loud, but it was stern. I wouldn't dare tug on my father, who angrily pushed away Mr. Gavin's tight grip on his hand.
"The Alpha of the Blackout Pack is a complete and utter, rude douche! It's just too obvious."
I coughed twice, and I saw Charlotte look at me awkwardly after hearing that.
I shrugged and said to her wordlessly, "I won't take what your father said to heart."
Charlotte then smiled at me reassuringly.
Mr. Gavin glanced at Charlie, who was standing by Charlotte's side with his arms clasped.
Now I finally knew who Charlotte had inherited her habit of thinking with her arms around her.
"Gavin Olsen, Kayla was dumped in the wilderness, and if I hadn't brought her back, Charlotte wouldn't have been able to come into the world at all! "
Charlie waved his fist in anger, his father's forehead bruised with rage.
"Besides, when Kayla was pregnant with Charlotte, she was still weak enough to ask me to take her to the Shadow Pack for a visit. I never thought that day would be your wedding day!"
"Gavin Olsen! You're an asshole!"
Charlie said to Gavin with a frown of confusion.
"That's a load of crap! I've never even been married!" Gavin and Charlie argued.
Charlie and I both froze after hearing this. "What?"
"I was never married at all, my mate has only been Kayla Watson since the beginning. That big wedding belonged to my brother, Gary."
Gavin paused for a second as he continued to explain, "But I had a time when Gary needed me to chase away the rogue legions on the borderline. I promised Kayla that when I returned I would stay with her to raise the baby in peace. But when I returned, Gary told me that Kayla had met with an untimely death, and I was sure I saw Kayla's body!"
The atmosphere in the ward dropped below freezing in a flash, "If we're all right, then only one person is lying."
Charlotte said.
"Gary. it must be Gary who is lying," Gavin replied.
Charlotte wondered, "But why would he do that?"
"And where is your mother now?" Gavin asked.
"Kayla has been dead for five years, and even Charlotte has had to live alone in human society for five years."
Charlie said glumly.
Charlotte coughed twice, "Yes, father. And mother begged Mr. Charlie to take care of me before she died. It seems that mother has a deep misunderstanding about you."
Gavin's face was written with grief and he lowered his head and stopped talking. "I've lost Kayla, forever."
Charlotte hugged her father, "At least you have me, now. Father."
"Miss Charlotte, I'm glad to see you're awake." Kelly walked in with the pills and gauze.
"Kelly thank you." Charlotte said with a smile.
"Charlotte, who really hurt you? Was it K? We've got K in custody, but she's got a lot of serious wounds too."
I explained to Charlotte.
"No! It wasn't K! The killer was Chesley!" stressed Charlotte.
"He had me captured and tried to achieve his goal of wanting to live forever by drinking my blood!"
Charlotte became a little emotional and she had to take two deep breaths so that she was able to say the rest of her words smoothly.
I patted Charlotte's shoulder and reassured her and continued.
"That K, is a puppet that he made. k has no life, you can understand her as a submissive, movable puppet."
"But somehow, K saved me from Chesley. She also disobeyed her master, Chesley's orders. If K hadn't helped me block that fierce attack from Chesley, I might not have survived at all."
