She's Not going to Ask
CHAPTER 18: SHE’S NOT GOING TO ASK
~ Gabriel’s POV ~
I left my father’s office and made my way into the dining hall. I picked up a tray and filled it with food. I decided I would have my dinner in my room tonight. I need time to think. Tanner mind linked me asking where I was. Wanting to know if we were going to go for a late evening run. I let him know I wasn’t feeling up to it and I had a lot on my mind. I need to have a meeting with Tanner and my Gamma Kai. Kai has been out of town meeting his family in another pack. I’m sure he’s already heard about all of this. He should be getting back home tomorrow.
I had just sat down at my table in my room when I heard a soft knock on my door.
“Come in, it’s unlocked.” Kelly opened the door and walked into my room.
“Alpha Gabriel I’m here to get your laundry.”
“Sure, Kelly, it’s in the corner. Thank you.” Kelly walked to the corner of my room picking up my laundry basket. She was one of my favorite omegas. She was able to handle just about any task that was thrown her way.
“Alpha Gabriel. Do you have a minute to talk?” Kelly seemed nervous to ask. I didn’t want her to feel that way about talking to me. I wanted her to feel comfortable coming to me with anything.
“Certainly, Kelly come and have a seat. What can I help you with?” Kelly took a seat across from me. She looked uncomfortable but proceeded.
“Alpha Titus told me to make sure that Harper was comfortable and had everything that she needed. I spoke to Harper a few minutes ago. She doesn’t have many clothes. She refuses to take money she hasn’t earned, and I can respect that. She needs things and she’s not going to ask for it. She’s trying to make do until she gets a job. The only thing she really asked for was if she could borrow a dress for the celebration the night of the eclipse. Even still, she asked for something old. Should I approach Alpha Titus and let him know about this?” Kelly’s hands were resting on my table in front of me. She was avoiding eye contact waiting for me to answer her question.
“Kelly, thank you for bringing all of this to my attention. I should have realized that Harper didn’t have any clothing or anything that she needed with her. Please don’t feel nervous to come and speak to me about anything. Don’t worry about Harper’s clothing, I will take care of it all. Do you know her sizes?” Kelly gave me an excited smile.
“Thank you so much alpha. Harper’s been wearing my clothes, so something around my size I think would do. She’s about an inch taller than me.”
I handed Kelly a piece of paper and a pen.
“Kelly, if you could please write down what sizes you think that Harper will need. Shirts, pants, shorts, dresses, shoes, anything you can think of. And leave the rest to me.” Kelly neatly wrote Harper sizes down on the piece of paper that I gave her. She was satisfied with our conversation. She picked up my dirty laundry and exited my room, shutting my bedroom door behind her.
I picked up my cell phone and dialed a number. A lady answered on the other end of the line.
“Hello. Gabriel, how can I help you?” I cleared my throat and prepared to explain to Brenda what I need.
“Hi Brenda, I need a favor from you please. You have my account information. I’m going to text you some sizes. I need you to pick out some designer clothing for a female. And one other thing I need is a nice gown for the celebration. I want to pick it out myself. Just bring a few options to my room when you get the chance. Sometime soon, OK? The price doesn’t matter. Make sure to bring shoes. Add some jewelry and purses. Anything that you think would look good with the clothing that you’re going to be bringing over as well. Thanks, Brenda.” I hung up my phone and went back to eating my dinner. My mind went back to Harper. I let myself get lost in my thoughts of her.
~ Harpers POV~
After dinner I decided to go for a walk around the packhouse. I wanted to learn my way around. I exited from the front packhouse door and followed the sidewalk. The sun had started to go down and a fiery sunset caused a red hue to cover the landscape. I walked along the sidewalk going left from the front door of the packhouse. I passed by the beautiful rose bushes that were situated along the walkway that were in front of the dining hall. I came to the corner of the packhouse and followed the walkway to the left. I was now between a forested area and the packhouse wall.
I continued straight until I came up on the back right corner of the packhouse. This area opened into a large field that I walked through earlier on my way to the training field. I decided to look around. I didn’t get much of a chance during training. The area had a lot of activities. There was a pool with a bar in the middle. A stage area where a band was starting to set up to play for the night. There were lounge chairs placed all around and to the left of the pool was a hot tub. How did I miss all this earlier?
I continued walking by the pool and past the backdoor of the packhouse. Straight ahead there was a large building that wasn’t connected to anything else. It didn’t look restricted, so I opened the door to enter. I walked in and my eyes had to adjust because the lights in here were brighter than outside. I heard the sound of balls dribbling. Oh, this is a gym. Some teenagers were running around in the middle of a basketball game. Above the gym floor was a second-floor landing that you could see up to from the first floor. It’s a game area! How neat, alpha Titus and Luna Mae really do care about this pack if they are willing to splurge on an area like this for the younger wolves. It looks like the space doesn’t go to waste either, it is full of people having a good time. I smiled to myself and exited the building. At the door of the gym, if I turn left, it will lead me back onto the training field if I go far enough down the walkway. I decided to turn right and follow the walkway that went in between the gym and the packhouse.
I walked for a few minutes through what looked like a blocked tunnel that connected the gym to the packhouse. It would remind you of an old-style castle in here. Some doors were lining the walls going into areas of the gym on the right side and the packhouse on the left side. The ceiling was rounded, and the walkway was modern cobblestone. Large chandelier lighting hung from the ceiling every few feet apart. Once I reached the end of the tunnel, the exit was also blocked into the shape of an arch.
I looked ahead and realized that I was walking into a beautiful garden. Soft lighting shined all about exaggerating the colors. It was breathtakingly stunning. I smiled as the sweet smell of perfumed flowers grew stronger. I walked onto the thick green grass that looked freshly groomed. Blocked up flower beds creating a wall holding beautiful flowering bushes of miscellaneous colors that were situated around the perimeter of the garden. More raised flower beds that held tall trees that were professionally shaped were standing in the middle of them. They were constructed everywhere creating a maze-like feel around the garden. At the bottom of the tree trunks there were displays of colorful flowers neatly growing. Some flowers of the same colors were placed together in a swirl type pattern giving the garden a unique look. I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life. I continued to walk through the garden. I passed by bird houses where little baby birds chirped ready to eat. Squirrels and other wildlife patted about playing, unafraid as I walked by them. I came upon the middle of the garden, there was a large water fountain that was illuminated all around. As the water fell, little droplets would mist into the air causing a glittering effect.
