CHAPTER 58: I DON’T NEED A MISTRESS
~ Gabriel’s POV ~


*RING, RING*
“Hello?” I answered my phone. I don’t recognize the number.
“Hey baby, can we talk?” Mika growled, angry that another woman other than our mate was calling us baby. What the hell!
“Samantha?! Where the fuck are you?!” Why this woman thinks it’s ok to call me on my personal phone is beyond me.
“Calm down! I’m just on vacation. I wanted to talk to you for a minute.” She purred through the phone.
“I don’t have time to talk to you Samantha. What the hell could you possibly want? You should know better than to call and expect to have a casual conversation with me after what you and Preston have done. Why would you turn against your own pack, huh? And what did Preston get out of it? After everything we have done for you. Your parents are worried sick about you. Your crimes are punishable by death!”
“Thane sought out Preston, I don’t know how or why. I guess everyone knows how big of a creep he is. Anyway…Thane offered immortality to anyone willing to help him. Preston is the one who came to me with the idea. He heard me in the hallway talking about Harper and pulled me aside with his idea. I didn’t know that you would get taken also. I did everything because I want you, Gabriel! You and I should be together! Not you and that bitch! It was us first.” Mika, growled in my head. “If you let me come back, we can fix things between us. If you’re still set on keeping your little beggar as a mate, then I promise to be a good little mistress and satisfy you whenever you want.” She said in a low seductive voice. It’s becoming her normal tone with me. I am so sick of this woman!
“You listen here you fucking bitch! No one… and I mean NO ONE gets away with talking about my mate that way. You need to get this through your thick skull, I have no interest in you! I don’t want to be friends, I don’t want to be your Alpha or King, and I certainly don’t want to be your lover! I don’t need a mistress. Harper gives me everything that I need, want, and more! The only thing that I want from you, if for you to come back so I can give you the punishment that you deserve. I don’t expect you to do that voluntarily though, so I am going to enjoy hunting you down and tearing your guts out. It’s going to happen sooner than you think.” She was silent for a moment.
“I see, so you will turn against someone that you have known all your life for that poor excuse of a Luna. I guess Thane will enjoy hearing all of our pack secrets. Good luck getting to me, I’ll be waiting for you next to Thane.” I roared through the phone.
“If you think that motherfucker can keep you safe, then you are dead wrong. That will only give me the satisfaction of killing you both at the same time.” Mika ran his tongue over his teeth, he was ready to taste her blood.

Samantha screamed loudly in anger, then hung up the phone. I mind linked Tanner.
“Hey, tell our men that Samantha is most likely with Thane Kago on his territory. They are not to pursue her or engage unless they find Samantha alone. I don’t want anyone going up against Thane unless I am there to help.”
“How do you know that she could be there?” Tanner asked me.
“Because the stupid bitch thought it would be a good idea to call me. She was trying to seduce her way back into our pack.” Tanner belted out laughing.
“She never was the sharpest tool in the shed. I’ll get in touch with everyone. Kai should be with the trackers right now.”
“Thanks Tanner, Tell Kai to come back to the packhouse and get some rest. I know he has been out most of the day. He left directly after the meeting this morning.” I ended the mind link. I have to try to get in touch with Mona. She may be able to help me locate the creator of the stone.

I have no use for Preston any longer. I need to take out some of my aggression, and he is the perfect candidate. I am tired of that piece of shit breathing. I walk past the guards and through the door. They bow their heads in my direction. I pass several cells and continue to the room at the end of the hallway. I walked in and the smell of burning flesh and rot was stiff in the air. I walked up to the table that Preston is tied down to. His eyes shot open when he heard me walk into the room. He could no longer talk or beg. His mouth was wired shut. I told him he would suffer.
“What Preston? Don’t have anything to say?” I grinned at him. He was trying to move and shift but the leather wolfsbane bindings did their job well. “I have grown tired of you, you're beginning to stink. Don’t worry, Thane Kago will be joining you in hell soon.” I said as I pressed my finger to his temple. He was moaning through the wire binding. I let my claw extend, it slowly pierced through his temple and into his brain. His muffled screaming grew quiet, until he was staring blankly at the ceiling. I listened as his heart slowed and then finally stopped. No one violates or endangers my mate.

I got cleaned up and walked into the dining hall. I haven’t eaten all day, and the smell of dinner was making my mouth water. I wonder if Harper has eaten. I mind linked her.
“Hey baby, have you eaten?”
“No not yet, have you?” she asked me.
“I’m in the dining hall right now. Come down and eat with me.” She giggled.
“Did you mean for that to be a question or a demand?” Ugh.. she is so stubborn. I want to just throw her over my shoulder and show her who’s boss. The problem with that is, she would just turn around and show ME who’s boss. So, I decide to pick and choose my battles wisely. A battle with her is one that I can’t win.
“Of course, it was a question, my love. I would never tell you what to do and expect you to listen.” I said back to her. It’s the truth, she can’t stand to be told what to do. She is so damn sexy, I love how she won’t back down from me.
“Finally, someone is learning how things work around here.” She said through our link. I bring my hand up to rub my face. She is sexy but frustrating!
“Get down here before I come up there and get you, woman!” I said, knowing that I just made a mistake. I didn’t have time to correct myself before she replied.
“Ok, I’ll be down when I am good and ready!” She closed the link. I looked up and saw Kelly and Tanner walking toward me.
“Alpha… King Gabriel, I have a letter for you. It just came through the post today.” Kelly dug around in her bag and pulled out an envelope that was addressed to me.
“Thank you, Kelly.” I took the letter from her and put it in my back pocket. “Hey, can you do me a favor?”
“Sure, what do you need?” Kelly asks me.
“That mate of mine is driving me crazy. I told her to come and eat and now she is refusing to eat!” Tanner’s face took on an I told you so look. “Don’t even start Tanner! Kelly, can you please go and invite her to have dinner with you? Even if you have already eaten, I just need her down here.” Kelly giggled and started up the stairs. Tanner was shifting his weight back and forth. It looked like he had something to say but was holding it back. I sighed.
“Go ahead and say it Tanner! If you have to.” He stopped shifting his weight and threw one arm over my shoulders.
“You know if you would only learn to ask the juggernaut she might comply. It’s all in the way you say it. Instead of saying COME AND EAT, WOMAN! You say… with a soft voice, baby would you like to come and have dinner with me? And instead of saying DO THESE DISHES, WOMAN! You say, Baby, let me do those dishes for you. I want to punch him right now. “You know what don’t call her WOMAN at all. It should always be love, mate, baby, babe, sweetheart, light of my life….” He kept going.
“I get it, TANNER! Don’t you think I already know that? I just like getting her worked up, that's all.” He slapped me on my shoulder. My eyes started following Harper down the stairs. She was laughing and talking with Kelly.
“Maybe don’t wind her up when it comes to eating. That Luna…Queen would starve to death before she would eat AFTER BEING TOLD TO EAT!” Well… I can’t argue with that.

~ Harper’s POV ~

I walked down the stairs with Kelly. Once I got to the bottom, I looked up to find Gabriel grinning at me. OH, I see now. I turned to Kelly.
“Did you trick me into coming down here because of him?” She gave me a guilty look and shrugged her shoulders. Gur…
“Guilty, I am sorry Harper.” She said back to me.
“She had to do it. Gabriel commanded her with his Lycan voice.” Tanner was trying to convince me, but I didn’t believe him for a second.
“Did you command my best friend, Gabriel?” I pointedly asked him. He was trying to get back on my good side, so his reply was that of a brown noser and threw Tanner under the bus.
“No babe, I would never do that. She is your best friend after all.” I looked at Tanner and he took a nervous step backwards. He grabbed Kelly’s hand and quickly walked away like he was afraid of me. Kelly giggled the whole time.


I couldn’t stay mad at Gabriel for long. He is too cute to avoid. I giggled remembering his face when I told him that we were not going to be spending the night together. Mia and Mika were both begging me to reconsider.
